My first thoughts on this:+ Show Spoiler + Why the FUCK did they feel the need to separate the game browser and the game? I don't like the extra shit in the browser-side client, either. Makes it feel like Facebook or something with the 'Battle Log'. It might be a nice feature for clans, though, especially if they're the kind who aren't serious enough to get their own website, and just lurk on other people's servers.
Movement feels pretty damn weird. I feel bulky and sluggish at times, but that might just be due to my graphics settings, which I have turned down from default. I still don't feel like sprinting does anything useful.
I've played Bad Company 2 for quite a while before this, and I notice that both games are really similar with their ingame interfaces, such as kit customization.
Just like with Call of Duty and BC2, Hardcore or gtfo. I really hate how hitting someone in the chest with an SVD or M11 mod 0 doesn't kill them from ranges you would expect from such a rifle. I decided to be a dick, though, and not leave my spot when the objectives were destroyed at one point. Apparently, being closer to someone means your bullets do more damage, as I was able to one-shot about three people in the chest. Before that, though, I realized that the same bullets can't penetrate through someone's arm. The arm in question was in front of the owner's head, and I had to fire two shots to kill him. Sigh.
After playing Red Orchestra 2, I don't mind bullet drop and travel time, but it feels weird in this game. Maybe this is just because I haven't gotten acclimated to it yet, but I still don't like how it feels.
I find it odd that the game always starts in Windowed mode, requiring alt-enter to bring it to fullscreen. Again, I think this is due to the separation of game and game browser.
The fuck is with flashlights? I can't see a damn thing if one is pointed in my general direction. I would think that most rifles would be difficult to carry if they had a 1000-watt spotlight taped to them, but no. The laser pointers aren't that hard to deal with, though. I think. I was able to shoot someone in the face when they lasered mine from about 15~20 meters away in a well-lit part of a subway station.
Not much else to say for now, besides this: Fuck Origin. EA, Why do you feel the need to make your own digital distribution platform when Steam is even more viable? If I remember correctly, there was a short period of time when BF3 was advertised on Steam for preorder before being removed + refunded. I guess we now know why. And why must all of our names be unique? And why are all the ones I normally use taken?
Final xmas list: Battlefield 3, Skyrim, Diablo 3, Backlit Mechanical Keyboard.

They don't even look like that in game. One of the american classes has full desert camo for example, none of those do. It's great that you can tell them apart but those screenshots aren't even accurate. Shouldn't you have recognized that though?

I strongly dislike Battlelog in its current incarnation: I'm not opposed to it as an idea, but it's clunky and slow atm.
I'm surprised that you think movement is sluggish. Can you elaborate further? In comparison to other FPS games I've played recently (RO2, Blops, MW2), it feels fast and very responsive to me. Sprinting makes you move noticeably faster, particularly if you have the sprint specialization equipped. I love that prone drops you to the ground instantly, instead of a leisurely lying-down animation.
Flashlights: have you ever had a tactical flashlight shone in your direction? I can assure you that the way they're implemented in BF3 is pretty reasonable and realistic. For game reasons, I think it should be toned down maybe 20%, but you certainly can't call it unrealistic.

Those are the character models. Depending on the map that you're playing, characters may have different camouflage textures. The fact that US forces, and particularly Engineer, sometimes have strongly colored desert camo only makes it easier to tell them apart.

I'd just like to say that it's not stupidity, it's a desire to rationalize away their own faults as the game being bad. These people aren't dumb, and it's unfair to call them that. They just need to recognize that being good at games sometimes requires time. Not everyone is capable of immediately distinguishing between teams and that's ok. But don't try to pass it off as the game's fault.

think of flashlights as defiler dark swarm. pretty OP but makes game interesting (even then it isnt OP since its obvious if someone is running around a corner with a flashlight / can be seen from far away)
edit - anyways no offense but as the hyped up complainers whine and leave i imagine the game will be much funner in pugs than it is at the moment

Now, think about what you just implied. You kinda told that guy to go and play 20+ hours of Battlefield 3. Not everyone can dedicate 3 whole days of freetime to gaming. I'd say, on average, a casual gamer would play the game 1-2 hours a day. It would take him around a week to a week and a half to get to your level of playtime. Simply telling someone to "spend some time playing the game and come back" is almost condescending (at least, that's the way it sounded to me).
One is allowed to at least some room to complain when starting a new game. The fact that so many people are complaining about the same thing has to mean something. It's better to try to help resolve people's problems, rather than scoff at someone whose opinion differs from your own.

My opinion on movement might be due to framerate, but I unlocked Sprint+ in the last game I played today, so I didn't test that. It just feels like my soldier is overweight and out of shape(somewhat like me). Yesterday, I played Humans vs Zombies for about 10 straight hours, and I got pretty used to running while holding something in the 5:21 I was a human. HvZ is like tag, except one team can use nerf guns.
As for the flashlight question, no. However, I have a 532nm 30mW laser pointer, and just shined it in my eye to see what it was like for a moment. Can you relate it to that?

Well its not like the soldier himself would be overweight. Full combat gear easily clocks in 40+ pounds. It gets pretty damn tiring walking/running around in that all day.
Don't dilute his question, your example of the laser has no real pertinence to his comment. With respect to the previous poster, i have had a tactical flashlight flashed in my face and its fucking bright. Really can't see shit. Its not like CSS where theres a little white circle, you fucking squint like hell but all you can make out is this white blur. But to answer your question, yes i have had a laser pointer shined in my eye, i regret doing it cause it was a fucking stupid idea. But the amount of vision you lose is approximately equal in practice.

I figured out the difference between the teams because my team has blue triangles on their heads and the others don't or they have orange triangles. I'm sure casual gamers are intelligent enough to figure that out as well
Other than that russians are definitely darker than americans

Pretty much every complaint I've read in this thread is fixable, yet people still say that they wont buy the game. You guys do know the reason why betas exist right? To find bugs and fix them. Everyone here expects this beta to be like CoD4s beta which was essentially a multiplayer preview. This game has bugs, it has problems, but it's all fixable. As long as EA and DICE come through and fix them, I can see myself playing this game far into the future.
