Maybe it's just because the appeal to the game fits me exactly, but I just think that they're is so much to love and appreciate and do despite its flaws that it is easy for me to enjoy. Still haven't played another RPG that can quite live up to it in my experience, and that's just the vanilla version! Don't let the PC gaming master race get you down. The Elder Scrolls games are amazing on PC, console, with mods, and without. Every game has been better than the one before it. Enjoy! Uhm, no, and no. Sorry

Um, I'm sorry but it seems like you're trying to tell me what and how I should feel about things. This is wrong.
I played oblivion on console when it came out, I think it was even my first 360 game. I played that shit for well over 100 hours and I loved it. How can you possibly tell me I'm wrong?
Mods make it a better game, without a doubt. But I have a hard time understanding where this console/nomods HATE comes from........
Hell, I played Fallout 3 and new-vegas on console without mods too. I had a fucking blast.
So please people, try not to throw out your opinions as facts, and remember to just love the games. That's all.

^ I think the hate generally comes from the fact that Bethesda have had to 'dumb down' their games massively to appeal to the console crowds.
Whilst Oblivion was a good game compared to other titles, it fell well short of its potential, and was far inferior to Morrowind.
I guess there is also the feeling that console hardware limitations prevent developers from making the most of modern PC technology.
Not saying any of the above can be proven as facts, just that they are pretty common (and valid) opinions.
Fallout 3 was an improvement over Oblivion so there are signs we're moving back in the right direction. Skyrim will be good for what it is on both platforms I'm sure.

It's not just a dumbing down of the game play, or graphics, but even has a huge impact on the game as a whole including the interface. Many people's complaints with Oblivion include an awkward-as-fuck inventory and menu system that was designed from the ground up for consoles. So if you played it on a console and didn't see any problem, that's because many features were designed specifically for consoles. But if you had to use those menus on a pc, you might agree that it felt not quite right, like something was missing. That's where a lot of basic mods come in; making basic changes to the menu system to adapt the game to the PC. In many ways, modders had to complete the 'port' to pc from console.
Other mods that deal with things like level scaling and content are great too and make it basically a completely different game, but the core of what I think mods bring to TES games on PC is absolutely necessary in order to not feel like you're playing a shitty port of a console game.

Im sure there are MANY of you who don't give a shit about waiting. If you are one of those people like me, here you go.

I got Morrowind without having watched any trailer and I remember when I first walked up to vivec and it started appearing out of the fog of the sucky viewing distance, and it just kept on getting bigger and bigger, I was in awe like never before while playing video games.

I completely agree. I almost want to wait a few months for Skyrim until modders have made a usable PC interface for the game. Every video I've seen of the game's menu system has made me cringe.

As far as I know there is no menu footage for the pc? And yes, the pc has a different menu system.

Yea I stopped watching it too, I zapped everything that involved quests, just watched the gameplay stuff and I find it pretty promising actually. I like the way crafting seems to work.

Holy shit, Seeing him get obliterated by that Frost Troll made me sooo much happier that they have scrapped scaling

Actually this is a console version so quality footage does not fit into that sentence.

I don't really even have a problem with fast traveling or anything else out of convenience most of the time, it's just the amount of inventory space that always gets to me haha. Mods :D!!! That's what is so awesome about these games, you can pretty much decide how you want to play the game and change things to how you want it. You don't even need mods to change your inventory space. If you have a PC, you can just console command it.
It's not really just inventory space that I'm talking about. It's a realistic amount of items. Even with a small amount of inventory space, you could still carry say, either 1 huge sword OR 30 potions.
I guess I'm the only one who it breaks the immersion for.. and yet fast travel and people freezing during dialogue etc doesnt really for me, but does for others :p Oh well.

Nov 11 can't come soon enough... though I still have midterms to tackle.

Relax, he's technically right whether you like it or not. It's a matter of technical specifications. I use a year old laptop and my mobile card is better than the 360 or ps3.
Obviously it's going to look wwaayyyy better on an optimal PC than a console.
|
For people that dont want main quest shit, he gets done with that pretty early on and stops all main quest stuff to just wander around and do random things. My only gripe is he's just so bad at the game.....T_T
But you see all the crafting and such (cept alchemy I think) and some decent combat. After I get through all of it I think I'll be done obsessing over any and all leaked info though.
