Stupid thing to say about something you can choose to run if and when you please lol, you use it only to play skyrim, if your PC is that affected by steam, it for hell sure cant run skyrim. and if your not playing skyrim? Turn it off. Well, it didn't use to be that way back when I tried it, so I suppose that's good to know.

I would say it's a good game, and nothing more. I say this because of two huge problems: 1. Generic dungeons: All of the non-quest related dungeons were completely generic. All loot was random, and there was nothing remarkable about any of them. This contrasts heavily with Morrowind. I still remember that cave near Seyda Need with that Wizard Ring. I also remember some cave with a vampire in it that has a sweet unique bow. 2. Level-scaling of enemies: It's retarded to have bandits wearing daedric armor. On top of that, you never get the feeling that you are getting stronger. Why the hell can you save the day when all the guards are ALWAYS stronger than you? Those two things ruined oblivion for me. Sure, the quests were fun, but exploring was not rewarding at all. You should have tried Oscuros Oblivion Overhaul; it fixed both of those issues and made the game absolutely epic... it was a must have mod. Guess what? Bethesda hired the author of OOO to design the dungeons for Skyrim. This is the sole reason I am buying the game because I know it will be epic just because of this. I didn't realize that the maker of OOO was working on skyrim, now I won't be able to sleep ![]() Yeah, I won't believe that until I have a source =/.

You don't "have" to play Oblivion/Morrowind, because there is very little connection between the different installments of Elder Scrolls, but they were both excellent games (especially with mods). You don't really have a lot of time before Skyrim comes out, but if you ever find yourself bored you can pick up Oblivion on steam for $20 and with proper modding it's still better than the bulk of games coming out nowadays.

Or get Morrowind GOTY for $20 and have a vanilla game that's better than almost all games coming out nowadays, save for the graphics. I seriously recommend TES3 over TES4, you can fall in love with it so easily. It just takes a little getting used to.

I used to dislike steam myself. ![]() Same. When Steam first came out it wasn't great. Now it's awesome. Valve makes great products from the ground up. Steam is fine, except for example when my internet connection died for two weeks and I couldn't play my shiny new Deus Ex 3. That sucked. I really wish there was some option, like in SC2, to 'play offline'.

There's no denying the value of OOO, but it always comes off to me as a little wierd when so many people shit on the game so hard vanilla. In fact, a lot of mods break immersion for me so hard that I generally duck a good amount. I love the TES games just as they are. I'll admit that i've never played with mods (never really had the option), so maybe i'm missing out on a Huge amount of enjoyment, but all I know is that even right now, even playing the console version, that besides Blizzard games, TES is definitely my favorite. Maybe it's just because the appeal to the game fits me exactly, but I just think that they're is so much to love and appreciate and do despite its flaws that it is easy for me to enjoy. Still haven't played another RPG that can quite live up to it in my experience, and that's just the vanilla version! I do wonder what other RPG games have you played.

This way I get to have a shit ton of fun for months, and then install all the fancy mods and play a pretty much 100% new game for 0 additional cost. Also, + Show Spoiler + khajiit have a "claw attack" racial bonus, so I pretty much have to make an unarmed assassin type khajiit now.
