Disable fast travel and edit stamina to high values so you can sprint ingame longer, but you have to run on that thing to do it = exercise while playing :D

Could you recommend any usefull Mods for somebody that just purchased Skyrim?

First things first, go here and download the nexus mod manager. With it you can easily add/remove mods.
Some mods require to be run by a custom exe file, learn how to install this here.
I assume you have all the official dlcs, hearthfire, dawnguard and dragonborn. If not get them.

Now, the mods.

These mods I don't see myself playing ever without. I recommend all of them.

Then it's up to you to dig in and get whatever you like.
Pro tip : search the mods by categories and sort the results out via endorsements. You will find all the great mods ez this way.

Afaik Balanced Magic is no longer being updated and has some issues with parts of the mod not actually changing anything in the game. I personally recommend Mighty Magick; seems to scale pretty well, changes the perks to make more sense, and adds a lot of new spells.

Complete crafting overhaul and Smithing perks overhaul are very good mods but make sure you get Sharlikrans Compatibility versions to help them mix well with a lot of other useful mods like Better Sorting.

Weapons and Armor fixes is now included in the Unofficial Skyrim Patch which I also highly recommend. Fixes all kinds of annoying bugs all over the game.

I wasn't aware Balanced Magic was no longer up to date, I've had it for so long haha. I'll give that Magick one a try, thanks!

I'd still recommend to at least try it. It is amazing how many things you find if you don't fasttravel everywhere. You can still use the cart to get around so you don't have to walk across the whole world.

That system is what I use, Simberto. I played through the game when it was released and made liberal use of fast travel. Now that it's disabled, I discover so many little secrets and dungeons that I had totally missed before. Like that Excalibur reference near Rorikstead (I think?), animal dens with cool stuff, and what have you. I do use the carts if the walking around gets a little tedious, but disabled fast travel is awesome.

Using fast travel doesnt make a whole lot of sense either. Theyve crafted his beautiful unique world to see and explore, and then you use something which makes you see nearly none of it.

Yes, but i found it incredibly hard not to use it when it is enabled. It is always "Hm, i want to get there, just click it, why not". But once it was disabled i was forced to walk and always found new shit in areas i have already walked through 5 times in a row. Problem was that i never arrived where i wanted to go since i am apparently easily distracted.

But that's always the best part about Elder Scrolls game anyways. You load up the game, say "Hey let me get this main/Dark Brotherhood/Thieves' Guild quest done," realize you've been playing for 3 hours and haven't done anything to do with what you originally set out for, because you found some cave or keep or dungeon or quest that took you in a completely different direction.

I recently picked Skyrim back up with the DLC and some select mods, after not having played it since shortly after release with no DLC and no mods. Still having fun!

Haha I have exactly the same thing :D. Having it disabled is really different from not using it indeed, just forcing yourself not to use it kinda breaks immersion in itself imo. Its really great having it turned off.

Three days ago, I booted up Skyrim with the intent of finding Grimsever for Mjoll in Riften. My character was in Morthal, which is very close to Mzinchaleft, the Dwemer ruins where Grimsever is. Not 30 seconds after I began my short hike there, I saw a mudcrab. I'm an Alchemy whore, so I went to cut it down, and I saw a standing stone in the distance that I hadn't discovered yet. I wandered over to it so I could put it on my map and continue to Mzinchaleft, but from the Apprentice Stone, I noticed a few more mudcrabs. Once I'd slaughtered them, I saw a small shack hidden in some nearby woods. Traveling to the shack rewarded me with a corpse of some dude and a now-ownerless dog. I felt bad about just leaving the poor fella there, so I hiked to Solitude to give the doggy a new home in Proudspire.

I haven't gone to Mzinchaleft yet.

This is my story, and yours as well.

One time I was playing a no-deaths no-loading-old-saves character and I accidentally killed him with an arrow. I literally had to stop playing the game for a while.

You bastard! That is most assuredly game-ruining stuff.

Restoration should have a spell that lets you revive a dead companion one time per character for events like those. Not some grotesque, shambling zombie-dog, but just bringing Meeko back to life. I'm sure there's a mod like that somewhere, but having it in vanilla Skyrim would help out the Xbox/PS3 players, and avoid complications for PC players using the console to resurrect.

R.I.P. Meeko~

I think both Dawnguard and Dragonborn are quite good, and are worth the purchases. Hearthfire is fairly lackluster, but I liked the customization involved in the houses, and having a place to put your stuff in places like Morthal and Falkreath can be handy. Content-wise, though, DG and DC smash HF into the ground in terms of new weapons/armor/locations/etc.

Regardless, if you purchase any of the DLC, you ought to get the corresponding "Unofficial Patch" for it, from the Skyrim Nexus. The DLCs are, in typical Bethesda fashion, plagued by bugs, and the Unofficial Patch Project seeks to fix those problems. Even if you want to play an unmodded character, I'd recommend getting the Unofficial Skyrim Patch, as well as the patch for any DLC you might buy.

Yeah there are mods for every bethesda game that you should have even for a non-modded game, the bug fixes and performance tweak mods are too good tp pass up on (and SkyUI in terms of skyrim.)

i like skyui and now i think it is a must, other than that there are a lot of mods, i for one like weather / lightning mod climates of tamriel, some animation mods (jump not bowlegged for example) and stuff like birds of a flock, immersive wildlife (or something like that)

if u need another "kick" t3ndos skyrim redone and frostfall (can be played without frostfall) but adds some fun stuff.

I never noticed until my last play, but dropping items to the ground in towns can lead to hilarity. I dropped a bunch of crap in the middle Riften and like all the NPCs from the market ran over to pick stuff up. Some of them gave them to me and said I dropped something, but one of the merchants actually took an item and another merchant went over to him and told to give the item away, which the first refused and they actually started fighting :D some other merchants joined and they killed one of them.

Something like that happened to me in Riften as well, I tried to drop some armor to give the Homeless people some clothes but Mjoll and Bersei started fighting over it and, of course, Mjoll bashed Bersei's head in in a few seconds.

So I just opened steam and saw that they are releasing this "legendary edition" of Skyrim, which has a few little bonus features like "legendary difficulty" that, as far as I know, are not available in the vanilla game or any of the expansions. Does anyone know if those will be coming the way of us lowly folk who bought the game long ago, or are we out of luck until some enterprising individual adds that stuff in with a mod?
Can someone please explain/how water falls with no rain?
