Just wanted to thank all you guys in this thread for perking my interest in the Elder Scolls series, I plan on getting all of them in the future but just bought Morrowind and Oblivion, gonna start Morrowind tonight. BF3 has been really ticking me off so I'm glad I found something a bit more "constructive" to do game wise in the place of that (and SC2 of course). ♥

The game has gotten to a stage (for me) where I no longer find motivated to continue exploration, despite covering only 40% of the maps, explored less than 15% of dungeons and finished maybe 15% of quests.
I feel I have pretty much seen it all. Even at Master, combat is a breeze. I don't feel the need for any better gear...Landscapes and dungeons are becoming too repetitive
Morrowind was awesome for its unique landscapes in different regions. Skyrim still doesn't quite match it.

I think I did, + Show Spoiler +If you mean the part of the game where you end up in jail and are breaking out with Madanach and his forsworn allies. I did that all when I was getting myself a Thane rank in Markarth. -Pretty funny thing also happened after that, the Jarl asked me to go kill a forsworn leader as a bounty quest. I pretty much slaughtered the man right infront of him, took all his armor in mistake and then just dropped them on the ground, some random Forsworn came to ask me if he could have the armor if I dont need it XD. Then I walked out of the base without anyone even trying to stop me, just mumbling something about "the Rift will be ours once more".

Yeah that's the one I was thinking about. And I love those funny skyrim moments. I had a moment awhile back in Whiterun where on of the Battle-Borns asked me which family I favored. I was hoping this would lead to a quest so I said "Battle-Borns." He said something about how I was smart and walked off. Hoping he'd give me a quest I decided to talk to him again and he said "you've been a good friend to me, that means something" which I found hilarious because I literally met him no more than 30 seconds ago.

Yeah even if you go rescue the Grey-Mane guy (who the Battle-Borns kidnapped) from the Thalmor at Northwatch he'll still tell you what a good friend you've been rofl

There's already a handful of UI mods out. I recently tried out a few and it's a world of difference.
For the people complaning about lack of difficulty on higher levels, just handicap yourself. On my main character I currently don't use enchanting at all. Nor do I roll around in my fully upgraded daedra set, I've downgraded myself to ebon without a helm, only using the helm when it gets real rough.
Enchanting and smithing just makes the game ridicilously easy, nor 'am I a fan of the enchanting system, it's really meh if you ask me. Not to mention the ability to enchant/alchy yourself to better crafting/porffesions..it's just dumb.
That said I haven't played so much lately, but I'm trying out a illusion heavy stealth character at the moment. Tons of fun, but abit clunky as you're not able to tell the level of mobs, so it's hard to know what spells to cast, and when to dual cast.

The crafting system roll around roozy is just as retarded as vanilla morrowind alchemy was which had infinite self scaling as well

Oh man, I'm almost at 100h played and I can say that I rarely enjoy a game so much, there's simply so much stuff to do, to see...I'm really proud of my khajit archer ;___;7.
Also, one question. What's a good way to level up Destruction spells? whenever I try using them on bandits and such I can't seem to kill them at all, it just takes too long and I can't find another way to level it up.
Now for something a little different:

yep their is a mod that changes the name of all the potions so potions that do the same thing are together. I have no idea why this wasn't how they were originally arranged but it makes the game 10% more fun. mod's name is "better sorting" haha.
Im pretty pleased so far, waited to finish my awesome gaming rig, so im only level 20 but having a blast. And i didnt like oblivion but thought fallout 3 was pretty good.

a million items with no visual distinction, resizable windows = windows are not full screen for some reason, information really poorly presented, just not a good interface. Makes skyrim's interface seem brilliant.

I still hate the inventory UI but I got so used to it...
|
I think I may have to start over without using Enchanting/Smithing/Alchemy/Impact/Sneak Sniping... shit's so OP even on Masters, it really takes a lot of the fun out of the game. Anyone else find they have to really limit what they choose so as to not become retardedly powerful? Like my first character, full mage, as soon as you get impact the game is completely broken, not to mention getting 100% destro reduction
|
Anyone else had the problem where a ghost mouse cursor appears in the top left of your screen and the game occasionally minimizes for no reason (probably something to with where the ghost cursor is clicking). Pretty annoying and I cant seem to get rid of it.

I want to duel wield a staff and sword, whats the governing skill for staff damage? or is it just how well i can craft a staff?

I'm afraid that in skyrim you cant use staves* as melee weapons :'(
Unless you mean you want to use its spell then you want to level up destruction as that governs how much damage you can do with a staff. (there are also different kinds of no damage staffs who are problaby under alteration or illusion)
