I read that a lot of people found sneak/archery really easy at the highest difficulty and i would like ask a question. So, I'm level 20 i have the sneak attack bonus from the sneak perk tree but, for me, it's impossible to one-shot mobs like Falmers, Dwarven machines, Bears, etc. What am i doing wrong ? I'm using nightingale equipment ( bow + dress ).

I'm a wood elf as well. I should've probably focussed on archery as elf speciality but i went onehand/block .
An useful tip for those who fight close combat and/or use the fps camera, you can change the FOV in the console. Just open console and type: fov number (i find 110 to be great fov for the first person camera).
I have a question, why does my trap a soul spell not work? I tried it on orcs and thalmor agents so far and each time it said i don't have a gem big enough. WTF? I had greater sould gems and grand sould gem as well.... It pisses me off to always have to spend money on soul gems, they cost a lot.
Humanoids, including dremora, have black souls. Only black soul gems can contain those.
On December 23 2011 17:39 Dante08 wrote: Thanks demonhunter, is it better to use dual daggers or a sword and shield?
Daggers have very short range and even when dual wielded, their attack speed is about the same (if not identical) to a single wielded dagger unless you have the dual wield perks. It would be better to dual wield swords or any other decent length weapon. Dual wielding leaves you hugely vulnerable, and the tradeoff isn't really worth it imo. Notice that I chose the elemental protection perk under block - that's the best way for a non-mage to block magic. The Lord standing stone adds 25% magic resist and 50 armor as well. Dual wielders tend to get owned hard by enemy mages. So, yeah I'd have to say sword and shield.

nothing... unless you can get several sneak attacks you won't kill harder enemies without them charging you. unless you abuse crafting quite a bit. archery is pretty hard until lvl 30 or something, that's what i thought when playing my 2nd char, a 1h+shield "warrior".

you want to dualcast all destruction and restoration spells
put all your main spells in the favorites menu and switch around as needed
except for a few specific situations, if you're casting two entirely different destruction spells, you're doing it wrong
fire = raw damage but harder to aim ice = it's like concussive shells lightning = hitscan but less damage for mana cost
unless previous elder scrolls, there is also no downside to wearing armor as a mage in skyrim, so you should put some perks in one of the armor trees or you will start to have a lot of trouble once you reach late lvl 20s. alteration spells/the mage armor perk are super bad, it ties up all your mana for something that you can just wear
as a sidenote, i really don't understand why the elemental shield spells are gone. alteration is so thin in this game, they had to take a bunch of spells away from illusion to pad the class.
I know you always want to dual cast. What I mean is like say I have firebolt in both hands, but then want to summon a flame atronoch, if I go to put on flame atronoch it will only put it in the left hand, I'll have to equip and unequip a 1 handed weapon to take the firebolt off the right hand to dual cast flame atronoch, and then do the same equip/unequip to put firebolt back on the right hand to dual cast firebolt. Is there a different way of doing that?

Leftclick rightclick it on favorite, it doesnt work with keybindings tho afaik.
Since I can't afford this game (and it probably won't go on Chistmas sale on Steam) do you guys think it'd be worth it to pick up Oblivion and Morrowind on Steam since there so cheap? I've never played an RPG but really want Skyrim so I figured these two would be an obvious choice to get me started on the genre. I know they don't look as good but maybe I could still have a nice time and get to know some of the story etc. Tell me what you think, thanks.

Thank you very much that's gonna make life so much easier! I didn't know you could do that.
-Mage college quests -Bard college quests -Thiefs quild quests -assassins quild quests -companions quests -got 7 of the 8 dragon priests masks, last one remaining comes apparently at the end of the questline. -Got Thane rank everywhere. -Got a home fully decorated in every city. -got married. -Gotten every Daedric artifact. -combined the Guldur amulet. -Won the war for stormcloaks.
Playing kind of a mage kind of charecter with maxed out Illusion, Destruction, Alteration and Conjuration with full dragonscale armor. Also aldready maxed all crafting skills and crafted a gear with 5 pieces of 29% + alchemy and 3 pieces +29% smithing. +184% destruction potions with free cast thunderbolt kills ancient dragon with 3 hits as well as staggers it immobile -.-
If anyone has something that they consider is an essential part of the game then please share =)
Finish "No Stone Unturned". (24/24 Stones of Barenziah + Crown of Barenziah)
After that... find yourself some epic mods?
He missed the blades quests? Also, I hear the companions is werewolf based, consider doing the vampire ones if there are any
yeah I did complete the mainquestline just today. I even took the advice about difficulty and put that up to masters but still was able to kill Alduin before he did anything, also my +100% resistance potions made me immune to all his breathing. -I started gathering the stones of Barenziah, got 19 of them now (had about 16 before), seem pretty randomly located so this will take a while =P -Aela the Huntress came back!! It was exactly like I expected and she just appeared back one day after I was sleeping in my home at solitude and when I woke up she was there..... watching me...... during my sleep. -About the side quests and miscs. I did help a load of ppl, pretty much everyone who I found I just talked with and if they offered a quest I did it during 1 of my periods when I just get rid of all the misc quests. -Also I love doing exploration so I have found and located tons of places. Many times theyre abandoned and the ppl are either lying dead and have a journal telling that theyre about to move out because theyre scared of a nearby dragon, or they have gone to buy cheese or whatever. I like to find out where the said ppl have ended up in or take vengeance on whoever killed them, + Show Spoiler +
1 example is once I just found an alchemists shag where inside it had a journal where it mentioned the alchemist had gone looking for mushrooms! Well, it took me about 2 hours but I finally located the alchemist lying dead in the middle of a river in a small island.
-I think I completely missed the Blades quests tbh yeah, need to do it with my next charecter =( -About Vampire quests, I dunno, I find it kind of annoying to always remember to drink blood even thou it kind of has a lot of advantages as well. I got infected with vampirism during my game more than once, and once I actually became a vampire but I got it cured. -Fun fact about werewolfs, Aela the huntress is the 1 who infected you yes? well, when she saw me become a werewolf she immediately left me as a follower and attacked me...?? -.- I got double crossed =(
-And yeah I did start another charecter, nord female who came from a poor family and was driven into thievery, shes a pickpocket who steals from everyone. A kind of fun path to take after playing charecter who just helped everyone.

the console versions can be had for $40 now but unfortunately the PC is still $50 or more. I would suggest Morrowind out of the 2. But there's also a pretty newish game that came out last year that plays alot like Skyrim (similar fantasy setting and gameplay) called Two Worlds 2 and it's only $20 on steam right now. I highly recommend it!
Thanks for the tips guys, I'm going to get those two previous Elder games and gonna check out Two Worlds 2 as well but since I can't afford that one at this time I will put it on my wishlist for when I have more money. Greenelve how do I get those mods and install them? Also are they safe/widely used for these types of games? Thanks for the help in advance.

If you have say firebolt on each hand and you want to change to dual casted flame atronach, then hit your hotkey for that spell twice. First press will equip the spell in left hand, 2nd in right hand if it was already in left hand.
Haven't found a way to unequip hands with hotkeys, but that you can do with the left/rightclick on favorites menu
Also does it really matter which element you go with? Fire is fun but seems almost impossible to ever hit moving targets with it, feels like that would make it pretty hard to use later on.

Just use the aoe fire one, hit the ground. If you hit a person with it the people behind won't be hit. If you want single target lightning is best, but you can also use ice storm (goes through walls and enemies) to slow them and easier hit them with spells. When I was still under 75 destruction I would dual cast ice storm then dual cast spam firebolt or whatever the aoe one is called.

Skyrim's interface? The interface isn't terrible but if I could choose anything I wanted, the skyrim interface is at the bottom of my list.

Honestly if you have a good enough computer to crank Skyrim, you should be able to get a similar (or at least INCREDIBLY BETTER THAN VANILLA) look out of Morrowind with the graphics overhaul... Assuming you set it up right

If you have it keybinded you could just double tap it so it takes up both hands then tap your firebolt spell to replace one of the hands
