yeah I did complete the mainquestline just today. I even took the advice about difficulty and put that up to masters but still was able to kill Alduin before he did anything, also my +100% resistance potions made me immune to all his breathing. -I started gathering the stones of Barenziah, got 19 of them now (had about 16 before), seem pretty randomly located so this will take a while =P -Aela the Huntress came back!! It was exactly like I expected and she just appeared back one day after I was sleeping in my home at solitude and when I woke up she was there..... watching me...... during my sleep. -About the side quests and miscs. I did help a load of ppl, pretty much everyone who I found I just talked with and if they offered a quest I did it during 1 of my periods when I just get rid of all the misc quests. -Also I love doing exploration so I have found and located tons of places. Many times theyre abandoned and the ppl are either lying dead and have a journal telling that theyre about to move out because theyre scared of a nearby dragon, or they have gone to buy cheese or whatever. I like to find out where the said ppl have ended up in or take vengeance on whoever killed them, + Show Spoiler +
1 example is once I just found an alchemists shag where inside it had a journal where it mentioned the alchemist had gone looking for mushrooms! Well, it took me about 2 hours but I finally located the alchemist lying dead in the middle of a river in a small island.
-I think I completely missed the Blades quests tbh yeah, need to do it with my next charecter =( -About Vampire quests, I dunno, I find it kind of annoying to always remember to drink blood even thou it kind of has a lot of advantages as well. I got infected with vampirism during my game more than once, and once I actually became a vampire but I got it cured. -Fun fact about werewolfs, Aela the huntress is the 1 who infected you yes? well, when she saw me become a werewolf she immediately left me as a follower and attacked me...?? -.- I got double crossed =(
-And yeah I did start another charecter, nord female who came from a poor family and was driven into thievery, shes a pickpocket who steals from everyone. A kind of fun path to take after playing charecter who just helped everyone.
Been playing for a few weeks. I started getting a little too powerful from smithing/alchemy/enchanting abuse so I turned up the difficulty a bit. Finally ran into my first Ancient Dragon (I'm level 47). Turns out those things are pretty strong... It killed me with one ice breath T_T

why would you do all the misc quests during your period?

I believe Ebony>glass, but I haven't seen a single piece of Ebony in stores yet, I found an ebony bow (40 dmg) somewhere.
The top three bow materials, in ascending order of potency, are Glass, Ebony, Daedric.
As far as I can tell, metal ingots sold from Blacksmith vendors scale with your current level. I remember seeing only iron and corundum when I first visited Warmaiden's in Whiterun at level 4; now that I'm at level 46, I regularly find ebony ingots from pretty much all Blacksmiths. Weapons, armor, and arrows also scale with your level, though I don't believe ingredients, potions, food, or miscellaneous items do. I'd need some verification on that.
Ebony started appearing at vendors for me around... I wanna say level 40. If Peanut Butter isn't at or close to that, he can try checking that one Orc-operated mine southeast of Windhelm (Gloombound?). There's a ridiculous amount of ebony there.
Thanks for the info I am only level 25 though, but I am not that concerned about my bow (can still 1-shot almost everything while sneaking). I just hate that the Soul Trap throws lesser souls into my greater soul gems, and since its enchanted to my primary bow, I am kind of stuck with it. Thanks for the info though, I will defiantly be working my pickaxe

hmm I am not abusing smithing/enchanting and I am not using stealth so it is fun and challenging to play an archer on normal difficulty. well as soon as you get the perk that lets you move at normal speed with bow drawn kiting becomes real easy.
I'm not sure multiplayer skyrim would work. I mean, good luck have fun people who want to try it, but really, if TES was suitable for multi, wouldn't it be multi already? Edit: Already as in the 5th installment, esp. since there have been people asking for multi since at least oblivion, maybe morrowind but i didnt hang around forums back then.

The only way i could imagine multiplayer in Skyrim is if the second player took control of the companion you have. Id really like to play as a companion. Everytime the dragonborn would go into a small room, i would block the door, so he cant walk out anymore.
Sorry if this has been asked before. I just started a new character, and want to play it as a pure mage, thinking of going destruction/conjuration/enchanting. Switching between spells for dual wielding seems really clunky, is there a way to unequip the right hand spell and replace it with another without having to equip and unequip a 1 handed weapon? Also is fire lightning or ice better? Or is one not really better than the other? So far it's really fun, my other character that I finished the main quest line on was a 2handed warrior type. Seems like playing with pure magic is harder so far though, but I'm assuming it gets easier later on? I'm around lvl 10 right now.
the difference between the destruction types is kinda situational. It depends a lot on what enemy you face. Though I would say the most versatile school would be fire. It's decent against almost every type of enemy.

you want to dualcast all destruction and restoration spells
put all your main spells in the favorites menu and switch around as needed
except for a few specific situations, if you're casting two entirely different destruction spells, you're doing it wrong
fire = raw damage but harder to aim ice = it's like concussive shells lightning = hitscan but less damage for mana cost
unless previous elder scrolls, there is also no downside to wearing armor as a mage in skyrim, so you should put some perks in one of the armor trees or you will start to have a lot of trouble once you reach late lvl 20s. alteration spells/the mage armor perk are super bad, it ties up all your mana for something that you can just wear
as a sidenote, i really don't understand why the elemental shield spells are gone. alteration is so thin in this game, they had to take a bunch of spells away from illusion to pad the class.

this is wrong. wearing armor makes your spells more expensive

The light armor side of the smithing perk is better for bows than the heavy side of the smithing perks.
How do you figure? Daedric and Ebony are two best materials for weapons and bows are no exception.
