Btw I'm actually curious, to the min/maxers.. Is there a REAL point to abusing the professions to get everything super-maxed? Or is it just for shits and giggles, pushing the limits. I haven't had too much difficulty on Master when I bother to play it, when playing smart. This isn't a "abusing is stupid" question, I'm just genuinely curious if the main motivation is simply pushing the limits. FOR SCIENCE(!), per se. Or fun, lol.
Edit for below + anger on last page: 60+ hrs, no bugs (besides occasional physics glitch, but nothing game-stopping nor any crashes) Don't know why people think it's arrogant to say so, it's just the nature of hardware/software interaction (and modern game production lol)

glad they have their priorities straight instead of fixing the over 500+ bugs listed on their forums.
I'd rather have the creation kit than bug fixes. You can console to fix any situation anyways. The whole magic resist not working is a little absurd, but I'm assuming they'll be fixing that in the patch.
Mods are what make Elder Scrolls worth playing.
not sure if serious, have you seen the list of bugs? Using console to fix some npc/no clip through world can only fix a very small amount of all the bugs plus what about console players. and its seriously immersion breaking when I am doing the last thief guild quest when I enter and find the enemies are a bit tough so i exit to purchase more potions and then having to no clip through a wall on return because the wall is permanently closed if you leave after entering it first without completing the quest.
Well I have 112 hours logged on Skyrim and I've encountered a grand total of one game destroying bug (and reloading an autosave from ~2 minutes before fixed it, although I did spend maybe 30 minutes fiddling with the console to fix it myself unsuccessfully). I might just be a huge outlier or something, but I wasn't expecting a bug free game and I made it through everything I wanted to without much issue. I'm not sure what people are doing to get all these game destroying bugs, but I can't really comment on it cause I haven't had problems. If you broke your own game by messing with the ini file though I laugh at your misery.
Now I've also fallen through mountains I shouldn't have and all kinds of other crazy movement glitches, but those are relatively minor bugs. It's pretty rage inducing to fall through a mountain side and die, but if you're saving often like you should it doesn't matter. Maybe I'm just used to playing buggy elder scroll games so it doesn't bother me. If you played release Morrowind this game looks perfectly polished and if they fixed all the bugs before releasing the game I'd still be waiting to play Morrowind most likely. I can live with a few bugs so I can play the game thanks, especially since I can brute force the console to fix most of them.
I also haven't played at all on the 1.2 patch because I was already done before the patch and heard it got really screwed up.
Because of how armor upgrade works, the less points you spend in smithing the better of a deal you get.
I thought it was the complete opposite.
There's a special set of steel armor that is much stronger than standard steel, but uses the same upgrades. Since the upgrades of your armor are based on your smithing level for a single perk you can have armor that is almost as good as Orc for a single perk. Daedric (as well as Dragon, Ebony, and Dwarven) is better than this armor, but it requires a much larger investment of perks. You can get a set of this armor by + Show Spoiler +
unlocking a follower in Whiterun (by brawling her in an inn) at the start of the game and then tell her to go attack a giant (send her on a suicide mission). Loot the corpse and you've got yourself one of the best sets of armor in the game until you can make yourself some Daedric armor.
Has anyone here been experiencing overwhelming game freezes? It use to only freeze once every couple of hours for me, but now it's freezing around once every 15-30 minutes. Sometimes after it freezes and I restart my xbox it will freeze again on the loading screen. The game is nearly unplayable for me at this point. I love playing it, but I just can't deal with the constant freezing. Does anyone have a solution?

Rumor many pages back said that it had to do with the fact that your save file gets very large as you play farther and farther into the game, and oversight which probably doesn't affect PC at all but could definitely affect consoles? Just a guess, everyone seems to have some of these symptoms
i've encountered a few weird bugs/glitches such as dead giants feet sticking up through the ground, argonian tails stretching 100 ft across the map, bears still running in place after i killed them, my char no longer has a head. I find them more amusing than anything. Had a few crashes but they happened right after autosave so it was np.
My fav glitch I've encountered was when I was on horseback and couldn't find the path to get up the mountain to visit the greybeards, and my horse proceeded to fly me up side of the mountain :D. After i got off the horse it teleported away.

can I resolve the issue by deleting my older save files?
What he said. Elemental fury trumps any dps enchantment you could ever put on something. You could alternatively make two of those and stick Soul Trap on one for general questing and then if you run into issues you can put on the unenchanted one and EF to victory.

Performance issues? I have a 1 year old cheap stationary PC, the game runs just fine IMO.
Oh well, back to Blackreach! (Quite possibly the creepiest place in the game)
I had that one too, Whenever Esbern speaks, the dialogue just immediately zips by because there's no voice. But it's a non-issue in the overall scheme of things.
I also had a minor bug for the horse stable guy in Riften and that chick at the bridge who refuses to talk to me. Apparently it's because I declined to help the guy the first time so I guess I can never complete that quest. It's just a small quest though so not game-breaking by any means.

it's the save file itself that's the problem, not the # of saves you have on your HDD/memory card.
as you play more and accumulate more locations/items/interactions/whatever, your save just gets inevitably larger and there's nothing you can do about that. ps3 users have the same problem too.
Probably already been mentioned, but they're releasing all of the modding tools and setup on Steam in January.
I've never modded before, broke a few Xbox's in my time trying to hardmod Halo 2, but that's beyond the point. Think this might be my first game to try and mod.

Gaaah, that's a bummer. Thanks for the answer though.
I swear my game is completely broken. I die consistently to mages with TWO HITS. Two lighting bolts, dead. I'm level 30, and I didn't do anything dumb like max out smithing. I've got the game on normal difficulty. How am I supposed to beat people who can kill me in two hits that can't even be dodged? Bah it's such a joke.

some mages are hard, i also heard that magic resistance is bugged? You need to get close to the mage and stagger him until he dies. With my 2H thats not too difficult. You cant just run towards them though, because then they actually kite you as if it was some pvp mmo.
Though i had to run from one dragonpriest with a bazillion HP and a rocketlauncher or whatever THAT was.

Poison/Paralysis Tipped Arrows/Slow Time shouts/Summon Flame Atronachs for tanking/Max sneak stuff and sneak around killing people left and right.
There is many ways you can beat them. Thou it's usually the warriors who have the hardest time vs mages.
Woe to you if you meet a dragon priest with a lightning bolt staff (or just uses lightning bolt), firebolts/balls, ice spikes you can at least dodge, lightning bolt, not so much. Stagger it or die huehue
Right, I usually try to stagger them and kill them in a single round.
Otherwise they block about 75% of my spells, completely wasting all of my magic, and 2 shot me. If I manage to run away and burn a couple potions restoring magic and health, and repeat the process, hitting them with roughly 25% of my spells and shouts until they are about 1/4 health, then they proceed to completely heal themselves. I have to repeat the process about 6 times and use up about half my potion inventory, and reload multiple times, all to kill a single fucking mage in a cave somewhere.
I swear mages are completely broken in this game after you reach about level 25. Being able to block all magic, heal themselves completely multiple times, drain your magic, and kill you in two shots is absolutely absurd. From now on when I encounter Invincible Mage, I'm just gonna put the difficulty on novice. Even then, I'm sure I'll get a run for my money.
