I've played 50+ hours on PC, no real bugs to speak of for me. The interface is annoying of course, but I've not had a single crash. I've had frequent crashes. Same here. Been playing on the PC version and I've had countless crashes. Probably once every 2-3 hours on average. That sucks. I've only had 1 in over 50 hours.

On December 01 2011 10:44 daemir wrote: 1. Interraction is limited to just talking to them or attacking. If you fight guards and then sheathe weapons, they might stop beating you and ask you to come nicely. Other than that, you get the occasional remark from people you pass by commenting on what you've done / your skills. No one is in awe of your dragonscale armor that hasn't been seen in a full Age, but if your bounty for a Hold is high enough, guards will attack you on sight.
I constantly have people remarking about my full dragonscale armour. Maybe not as in awe of it as they should be, but they definately comment on it ("Wow, is that real Dragonscale? I've got to get me some of that!" or something). They definatley get surprised if they see you do something completely unexpected, like absorb a soul in front of them for instance. Further you can build up very rudimentary relationships with NPCs. For instance, people may be more forgiving of you commiting minor infractions or they may return items you drop on the floor. Equally they may just pick them up and take them. The interactions are still limitted though, that's true. Some of the interactions with the world do at times feel frustratingly restrictive so in short, whilst I'd say it's a step in the right direction it does still have a way to go.
Edit: A couple of other things, you can over hear conversations as well but I *believe* (been a while) that was in Oblivion too? They can start quests or clue you in to map locations you may not have explored yet or just givey ou something to talk about when you finally do talk to the NPCs. There's a moment in the game where a location is being attacked and if you choose to join in or not actually effects conversation possibilities, without any hint that you're meant to be doing anything - it's more of a fluid situation than in Oblivion I guess is my point. It is still restrictive though, it'd be unfair to leave this post saying anything other than that, even if I am quite happy at the extent they've taken it.

For example even if you had 200 infamy and was a level 50 character with maxed out stats, people wouldn't be afraid of you or anything and just treated you normally. (Infamy decreases disposition towards those with high responsibility. That simply meant they were more likely to attack you rather than be scared of you or anything).
Another example is there is no way to mug people or do so. You can pick pocket but you can't threaten people or so.
Not much of the stuff you're describing really. Some people will comment if you do a cool spell or something like that, but it's not like you're going to walk into a town and they'll all cower at you or something. During certain points in the game the NPC's may recognize you from an earlier questline or something, but really there's not a lot new here. Major improvements from Oblivion would be that the facial graphics are a lot better, the dialogue is better, but the Nords are still voiced by like three people.

Anyone get huge framerate drops in the Markath Prison at certain points?
I played for about 5 hours today without crashing then had 2 within an hour. I think I've crashed about 10-15 times in 22 hours played.

the interactions with NPCs are basically the same, it's just the dialogue is simply more numerous
one thing they did change that honestly i feel is not better at all (but equally bad in a different way) is that most npcs have a specific scripted conversation that they only have with one other specific person
so while you avoid the problem of everyone in the world talking about mudcrabs, on the other hand every time you stop into windhelm, you get to hear the same damn conversation about how the apprentice lost the blacksmith's hammer, shit like that
it makes things pretty interesting on a first playthrough, but there are certain places where you can expect to spend more time than others, particularly around crafting tables, so it gets really repetitive
i'm seriously on the verge of killing farengar secret-fire just so i don't need to listen to his incessant babbling while i'm enchanting stuff
on the positive side, the awkward comments from npcs about your characters strengths is gone, because it's only the guards that complement you, and the guard dialogue is generally quite witty compared to other npcs

Thanks for the answers everyone . Well that is disappointing about the lack of interaction.
I was hoping for additional interaction that is similar to the sims or metal gear solid (for example) in in terms of how you can interact with NPCs.
Oh well. I'll probably get the game eventually though. Just want to wait it out for all the bugs to be fixed, mods to show up, etc.

I haven't made one potion all game - just used what i've found lying around Alchemy is awesome when you use it correctly. Here is a few uses: Health/mana/stamina potions, the obvious thing. Invisibility potion when you're about to die is so incredibly useful. Everybody should carry an invis potion at all times imho. Fortify smithing or enchanting when you're about use those skills. Boosts the effect by quite a lot. Resistance potions when you're facing dragons or hard monsters. Damage health poisons on your weapon is awesome and really cheap to make. Especially on dual wield. Paralyze/slow potions when you're facing extra hard enemies. Cure disease potions are useful when fighting vampires/wild animals with diseases. Put frenzy potion on people with pickpocket is an awesomely fun way of killing people in towns without getting caught. If you are a destruction mage, use weakness to element poisons on your bow and fire a shot before attacking, it does the world of difference. Weakness to element + weakness to magic and then pop a +188% destruction potion.

Also magic resistance affects everybody including you, so if you're one of those guys who love your 70+ magic resistance, you are FUCKED
I suspected as much. Looks like I'm going to have to reforge my daedric armor for me and my companion. My enchantments adding to >100% resist all are now useless and I am sick of spam healing myself and companion every mage encounter.
Any ideas on what my new "survivability" enchantments should be?
I'm thinking heavy armor and health...

Until magic resist works again health is the only way to get mitigation I suppose (even though more health really isn't mitigation).

Anyone have any ideas? Delete them and it should be fine again. At least this was the case for me.
It worked. Thanks a ton!

Attention Mod Users Vals Crafting Meltdown Alpha is broken Val crafting meltdown alpha causes Skyrim to hang on the menu screen without bringing up continue, new game, load, et cetera. If you are having difficulty getting Skyrim to work after 1.2- be sure to disable Vals Crafting Meltdown Alpha. It is likely the cause of your issue. PM me if you still cannot load Skyrim and I'll try and help you troubleshoot it if you cannot figure it out on your own.

Hello everybody. I am currently running no mods on a game that came out 3 weeks ago. Not a single crash or 'crazy bug' has happened to me in 90 hours of play on 2 different characters so far. Crazy, isn't it?
|
Anyone know for sure if resist stacks or not? I'm playing a sword & board char up to level 48 now, I just fought a Elder Dragon... I have some nice enchanted gear and ~120% fire resist, but the dragon's breath could still kill me in 2 hits... with the shield perk I should have about 170% RF. Wondering if my game has a glitch or something =(

Yeah go bethesda -_-;; What the fuck are they doing over there during the testing phase? During the actual QA/Beta phase and testing the patch before rolling it out.. These kinds of things must have come up, no?
I mean.. if they didn't come up then what the hell were they doing to test the game to make sure it worked? I'm pretty sure a backwards flying dragon or resists becoming null would be noticeable. It seems like every time Bethesda releases a game these kinds of things happen and I forget about it after six months when most of the 'major' things are ironed out. Then I love the game and.. slowly.. totally.. forget.
Then surprise new game same story. :/
