Seeing how the high skill potions all sell for a lot of money (in the 1k-2k range), it actually is one of the better quest rewards. The ninroots respawn after 10 days. I collected 15 on my 1st run and went in there later to wrap things up. I also had a lot of unexplored building and the "secret boss" to take care of.

Still don't like the favourite thing... only numbers sucks. Wish i could use my mx518 (i.e. mouse keys) for using spells and potions as well as some easier accessable keys (i very much hate to use 6-8).
The Inventory mod on Skyrimnexus made the game a bit better so far but it still is a pretty terrible UI overall. But that is known ^_^

I picked Skyrim up on PS3 first, but switched to PC after the lag at about 42 hours in made the game unplayable (PS3 only, patch 1.2 fixed most of it for me). I've come to love the favorites menu on both systems, but only after I learned that you must actively manage it to get the best use out of it. If you just put all of your utility spells, pots, and shouts in there, it'll be a mess, so you need to enter each dungeon and think about what you're definitely going to need on the fly and what you don't mind going through some extra menus for. This might help with feeling like you need to use all of the numbers. Have you tried modding your mouse buttons to those higher numbers though? That could be an alternative solution.

Why is it terrible if you have a limited number of skills that you can quickly access? - You can always rebind your skills to fit them to the occasion. - You can bind your mouse keys to 6-8 and use them if you don't like the numbers.
Wohoo all Problems solved

that might be possible, however i won't do it as it would mess up things aside from playing skyrim. will just wait for mods, i'm sure it won't take too long for one to appear.

Spent so much time making potions. Only about 39 alchemy. Fucking thing sucks..

Alchy skill increases depending on the value of your potions afaik. Unlike smithing, where you just spam Iron daggers.
I just noted what potions increased my skill the most and kept buying/picking up those herbs. Then again I sell 90% of my potions. Even on master can't consume enough, I usually do fine with what I find laying around and the odd resist potion vs casters. I also wish that poisoning weapons wasn't that clunky. I'd love to have a keybind Id' press, and poof! Next attack poisoned, without any confirmation or anything. Pausing the game after every slash/arrow fired is abit tedious :l

Just downloaded some texture mods, makes the game looks much better

just max out heavy army and knock people down I'm actually trying this, but with only like 65 armor rating to my gloves I really get beat down if I have lots of guys on me who aren't the basic low level wolf. The higher guys take no damage and really fuck me up. I supposed I need to keep working until I can get over 100 armor rating and high enchanting to enchant gloves/ring with unarmed damage.

lol All of these sound great, where do I get them? What I hate the most (actually I hate the UI most so what I hate second the most :D) is bad humanoid models with low details and clipping and such shit.

Sure it said "PC" on the box and runs just fine, but the controls are totally designed with "console" in mind. Even really old games allow for more spells to be memorized simultaneously and this "time-out to change my mouse1 and mouse2 spells" is annoying. HUGE minus for this and it would have been a reason not to buy it (just like the "only 2 guns at a time" in Duke Nukem Forever). *sigh*
There are sooo many options / spells / skills in the game, but that UI is putting the players in a straightjacket. Dude you can bind anything you want to use frequently on numbers... just open favorite menu, highlight spell/weapon/anything you want to bind and press corresponding number. Press that nimber 1 time --> 1 handed; 2 times ---> 2 hand (if possible) Thanks for the hint ... lets hope it also works for potions (it does). Now I gotta figure out which spells/items are the really necessary ones for those 8 slots.

Surprisingly, unlike its broken counterpart blacksmithing, the type of the potion you make for alchemy affects the xp bar of it. For example, a Restore Health potion will raise it less than a Damage Magicka Regen potion. So if you're grinding, make those instead.

I installed Skyrim yesterday and I'm really really enjoying it, such a beautiful game ^_^. Fuck me though, I only just found out about fast travel now at level 12 after spending 100 years getting back from that high hrothgar place on foot.
