I've made an illusionist/assasin character and using calm on my enemies and just backstabbing them for insta kills in combat, and I was wondering if I could keep this up for the rest of the game.

Is it wise to use heavy armor and magic at all? Im just using robe, hood and other non-armor-type bits right now (lvl 12 since i reset char) You will find pure -destruction robes if you do the mages college questline.

Im working + going to college so I need this free time for other things otherwise i would level more chars myself :/

Might be a silly question, playing on the PC here but I have seen people talking about their horses tanking (mine just runs away) and being able to give items to their followers. how is this done? How do I give commands and or items to followers. Thanks for the help!

Assuming it works the same way in Skyrim as they did in Oblivion: The difficulty slider changes the damage output of yourself and your enemies. At 2nd highest you'll be doing 1/3 the damage you would do in Normal, and your enemies will do 3x the amount of damage to you. The damage that allies take/do is completely unaffected, though.

My old horse mostly ran away but then I got the unique one from dark brotherhood quests and it sometimes seems to fight, not always. Also you need to talk to your followers like you talk to other NPC's and just choose to trade items or give him/her some command, thats all.

You could also get a companion or the only true companion, IMO, Shadowmere, the unkillable horse (unless you kill him ofc) to tank for you. Archery is definitely legit though, I'm playing on Master and though I do dual wield daggers, other half of the time I'm just using Archery and have never hit any real roadblock or anything. Also, yes, if you get all 3 crafts you probably won't be able to specialize in much else. The soft cap is level 50 - you can technically get level 81 or maybe higher but after 50 you start leveling slow as shit (I'm 41 now, about to find out if this is true). So if you plan out a build, you basically only have 50 pts.

On November 17 2011 21:09 Cyro wrote: How big is the difference between light and heavy? I heard Daedric was the best heavy armor, is the dragonscale set the best light or is there another set? heavy armor has greater damage reduction but uses more encumberance and supposedly drains stamina faster as you run. heavy armor is also noiser, which conflicts with sneak light armor takes up practically nothing on encumberance and makes no noise when sneaking, but offers less damage reduction from what i've read, heavy armor is by far the better route if you also want to do smithing as well, because daedric weapons are the best. if you have no interest in smithing, then which route you take is less important

at the very beginning where you must follow hadvar through the caverns and after picking up a weapon for yourself, you can pretty much hack away at hadvar with whichever weapon you chose (greatsword or one handed, even dual wield may work although i haven't tried). your skills will up as will your level at a pretty quick rate, and i was just doing this for fun.. ahah.. until i hit level 5 without much of any real combat. when you're told to sneak and attack the bear you can just take that time to infinitely hit hadvar to near-death (can never really die in case you were curious) while increasing your weapon proficiency... haha sorry if this kind of info was posted already, just thought it was kind of funny how that worked. dont do this when you're both outside though. i made this mistake and he hit me back and so i was sad and ran away + Show Spoiler + only to meet him again in the tavern//house in town

Also, as far as i know, all valve games allow fov changes, althought they do limit it to 90 i think It has to be said that Skyrim allows for much greater changes (180 works for example). But a lot of people suggest that 90-110 is the optimal setting. Give it a try!

On November 17 2011 23:13 ffswowsucks wrote: Search in My Documents / My Games / Skyrim PS: Waiting for more game saves from other people in PM ![]() I got a level 30+ conjurer/blademaster if you're into that. It's an interesting melee char : No armor, summoned weapons, a choice of 2 out of 3 (so far...) undead servants (The Caller, Drela, and an orc battle-mage I can't remember the name, all stocked at the arch-mage's - my dude's - quarter). The focus so far is on Conjuration (maxed, no more perk to put in imo), One-handed (around 70, dual wield and blade crits, need more perks), alteration (70+, need more perks as well) and restoration (around 55 I think, need more perks as well). Some perk and lvl around 50 in destruction, enough to cast dual wield firebolts but it's not the focus of the character. Crafting skills are from 40 for alchemy (I don't ever drink potion) to around 70 in enchant, no perks in any of those. Sneak and illusion barely raised (I thought about going assassin for a while, but meh, not in sneaky mood, I want to roll through master difficulty right now), the rest mostly untouched. I mostly put points in mana so far, and I think it has enough now, especially with a good mana regen. So I advise putting points in health and stamina to make him a better fighter from now on. By the way, if you're interested and want to wait for a soft-capped version of this char, it should happen in a couple of days :D It plays out pretty nicely, and offer a variety of challenges. You can literally let your pets do the whole game for you and enjoy the show or you can let them home in your necropuppet house and get real with dual-wielded summoned blades and the variety of spells to help you survive, which makes for intense fights and quick death in case of mistake. So....ya... that took longer than expected... time to make a TL; DR Not really summing up here, just asking if anyone playing the game with a mage could check something. Happens that whenever I cast any of the elemental cloaks from destruction school, all my summons go bye-bye, and rised people die again. Anyone can confirm this bug or it's on my end ? It's frustrating as a melee/conjurer ><
