have you played the game on a cranked up PC, or are you just saying stuff from the stream you watched that might not have its graphics settings set correctly?

I have the game running. Playing with more config settings. Hardware is i5-2500k and a 5830. I have all of the in game settings maxed out, but that is just draw distance of things.
I dont know what all of these flags are and what values they take. And I have to operate around forced Vsync which is always distracting. Granted, I like how the default settings run at 60 FPS very well.

So, seeing people talk about the specs they will play made me wonder. Can we go totally hybrid? Like Archer/Mage, or Warrior/Mage, Mage/Thief. Or even triple hybrids like thief/mage/assassin?
If yes, what would be the downside of doing this? If I am a thief/mage, can I do the quests of the warrior guild?

The races...they have same stats/properties as in oblivion or is any of them different?
I've no idea what my first char is going to be, magic or physical. I'm not the type that goes middle of the road just feels so weak. I probably Redguard two-hand or high elf destructor

Close the game to your desktop and restart it. Restart the client, and on the splash screen before it loads, go to the options for your graphics. There is where you can set the textures to higher settings.

Skyrim has the worst Menu/Inventory ever! Its on of the worst console-controls in the past 5yrs ...and I don't even mention the textures LOL -.-

It seems like some of the streams haven't installed the game (Xbox 360 version), you have to install the game to your hard drive for the better textures.
Also, not sure why you're going for the console version anyway if you're looking for cutting edge graphics at this point. The hardware itself is pretty old.

Can someone talk about the environment of this game? The scenery, mood, village ect. Does it feel you're part of a living world? How is the NPC's interactions, their schedules and all?

The full modded Oblivion actually looks better than this game. 6 gigs of install space was a really huge red flag. I don't understand why they crammed this entire game onto a single DVD. Unless I am mistaken about all this anyway. How is comparing a mod project 100% focused on making HD textures fair when compared against a game that's been out for hours. I haven't played so I don't know the extent of the truth but you can't compare apples to oranges like that. I think it is fair... Oblivion fully modded is a 5 year old game, even with mods that are made by 1-2 people.. While Skyrim is a brand new AAA title, made by a big studeo
Yeah and I can mod my Morrowind to look way better than stock Oblivion. Oblivion was "cutting edge" at its time, as well.

You can do whatever you want. All those combinations you mentioned are all completely reasonable to play the game with.

It's because of consoles and their outdated hardware.
It doesn't look bad though, it just isn't state of the art.

yeah! I blame the consoles too!
If they would just fix the bugs I would be a happy man

My point was that saying Skyrim doesn't look as good as a mod for a game that some guys spent all their time on SOLELY GRAPHICS is really unfair to Skyrim. I will agree it's not the greatest looking video game of the year, but you can't say that it looks "really bad"

This did not have as big an impact as one might expect. I never expected Crysis 2 hi res textures though.
I will make a completely competent post about this game sometime in the next 12 hours or so. Screenshots and the like. And i might add in some custom .ini fixes for certain things.

Plus in a few months we are gonna have like 50000 graphical mods to update it with to make it look all shiny and new

Community texture packs take a long time to create because they generally have to be rewritten from scratch unless the company makes the original design available.

I think the game looks amazing. It has mediocre graphics, but insane aesthetics if you ask me.
