They basically admit...we make the basic game, you guys can fill in the good stuff and balance it as you please.

With the level of detail I've seen i was expecting 15gigs easy. Even Borderlands was 12gigs 0_o Been reported several times and a lot of anger came out of it. Size on disc does not point at length of game, maybe just variety or texture size, which here may not be an issue either Bethesda said they developed new way of compressing stuff, but that seems odd...

I really tried to like that game multiple times but I just couldn't get past the combat where all you could do is whack your sword in a single way. Well, the core combat gameplay is very similar to that of Oblivion/Morrowind/Fallout where melee attacks consist of normal whacking in addition to some charged power whacking determined by holding down the mouse button and the direction of movement. However, they've done some tweaks to the melee combat system to make it feel different and hopefully a little better. The kill cams/ kill moves are a pretty badass addition to the game that make melee combat a bit more satisfying. Overall sword swinging feels a little bit faster and thus a little bit more kinetic, but this is a tweak at best. Dual wielding has also returned and looks pretty cool. Bows have been tweaked to feel better. Stronger bows taking longer to draw but are actually useful. The spellcasting system is a bit different from that found Oblivion. It seems that you have to dedicate an entire empty hand to a single spell, and you can dual wield multiple spells, with the ability to dual wield the same spell for an increased charge. From what I've seen on livestreams, some or most destruction spells are shot in a stream rather than as projectiles. For example, the basic fire spell is shot as a flamethrower-style rather than as a fireball-style. The basic healing spell heals per second that it is being cast rather than as a lump amount of healing per cast. Overall, it seems that the core concept for combat has been retained, but they've mostly been tweaking to make it feel better than the combat found in previous games. Right now, it seems to be a tweaked Oblivion-esque combat system but done better with better feel and some gimmicks thrown in to make it a bit funner.

I'd also imagine that the pre-load for steam is a encrypted and likely compressed. For example, if you open up any of the .ini or .txt files you get as part of the pre-load they're encoded garble rather than human readable text even though they're almost certainly files meant to store video/audio preferences. I thought they also added stuff like staggering on blows and timed blocking. Also the form spells come out depends on how you cast them (hold -> flame thrower, click -> fireball).

It kinda looks like they've taken what works in their previous games, both in the Elder Scrolls series and Fallout, and just improved on the, which I would say would be a better move than trying to reinvent the wheel. Soooo excited! Yeah, I like the direction they took. I think it was in their newest video "Reaching New Heights"? that they mentioned since they're not trying to make this revolutionary game, like the previous elder scrolls, they could just focus on improving the mechanics and details. Some might not like this direction, but I think it's great just because I think we'll get a really refined game out of this. Now i'm sure there will be some bugs and things people complain about, but I have a feeling this game can easily surpass morrowind and oblivion. Can't believe it's only two days left! I remember first hearing about it and thinking I couldn't wait that long, but it's finally here haha. Ahhhh, the anticipation is killing me. Definitely gonna call gamestop today and make sure my pre-order is all under control, cause I will be absolutely devastated if I can't get it on the first day.

This friday I'll be at my parents for like a week or a few days not sure yet. I will have time to catch my skyrim out of the mail box luckily. I can bring my laptop or computer, my computer is pretty beasty and can probably handle the game on max settings but is anoying to move etc ![]() ![]() And specific information on my laptop: + Show Spoiler + ![]() I should just wait for a week but I am too much of a nerd for that ^^. TLDR: I wonder if my old laptop can run the game well enough to save me the effort of moving my i7 package. Also, not sure if this is possible but can you copy your save from one computer to the other like in oblivion? Please help me out!! ![]()

Systemrequirementslab, right? It's stupid. It basically copy pastes the recommended specs and pastes it to your computer specs, assuming the entire time that you got like a 1900x1200 resolution at the same time. It said I can't run BF3, Borderlands, Crysis, or anything at all -- let alone on low. Yet I run all of those at maxed DX10 settings at 45 FPS no problem. Nonetheless, laptops are dicey. Most can't run jack shit unless you got a $1200-$1500 one that has an actual video card in it. The rule of thumb that I roll with is that if it has a graphics chip, it wont run much stuff out of low if anything though. However, this is not a very graphically intensive game. EDIT: Oh wait, I didn't see the spoiler for your specs. One second EDIT 2: Uh, yeah, that's a bit dicey right there. That processor is ass. I don't have much room to talk, but yeah -- you may be able to run it on super lowest settings and a lower resolution off fullscreen.

I'm getting a ride there just so I can bring my beast of a computer to play and hopefully stream Skyrim. In other words: If you can bring your beastly computer and play it on that - do it. As for save files - I don't see why you shouldn't be able to bring over save files to another computer as with any steam game.

I'm not sure for some games, but I know for a few of my Steam games as well as my non-steam games all saved games are saved in the Documents portion of your Drive. So just because you have Steam doesn't mean your games will be saved on multiple computers. You can, however, get the save files and email them to yourself or put them on a thumb drive and put them in your other computers Documents folder and play the save.
