Yes, yes aaaand... yes.
E: You need it to install the game and start it, though you can play it in offline mode after that (though as previously mentioned in the thread it doesn't always work)
Well that sucks ... I don't want to have to install that program .. I have had alot of issues in the past .. and I already have Origin and many other mandatory launchers .. what happened to the good old days where you got a CD, Installed the game, and just played it...
They've gotten alot better and tbh are better than any other PC platform out there. Not really a big deal IMO
Steam was pretty terrible back in the day when it first launched. Now on the other hand, it´s awesome.
Put it in spoilers just incase anyone doesn't want to know about stuff like this, it's not actually anything to do with the storyline though, just a gameplay "feature".
“You can paralyze people,” says Bryant. “There can be a lady taking a bite of bread, and you can cast ice form on her, have her tip over and fall into a stream. Then the stream has physics, so she goes down river, wakes up, and she still has bread in her hands.
“So now you have this NPC in this crazy state: 'Hey I'm in water. I'm eating. I'm swimming.'
“There's all this crazy stuff you can get to happen in the game.”

Guys im in a bind. I need some freakin help. I WANT THIS GAME FOR PC SO BAD!!! I want access to all the mods and theirs a certain aesthetic pleasentness on a computer you cant get from couch gaming. The problem is my computer is a bit old. It meets the system requirments:
AMD 64x2 4600 dual core 2.4ghz processor 3gig ram Windows xp (yeah i know told you it was old) Nvidia 460gt overclocked edition (newer video card)
My question is this: If you guys were in this situation would you compromise a bit of graphics quality and get in on pc, or would you buy it for console to see it on a 50in plasma, in all its optomized glory? Another question to someone more technologicaly inclined: How bad or good would my system run this game. the processor is my biggest pitfall, but I dont have the money right now to blow on another gaming rig. Please help I know this thread is full of these kinds of posts, but Mine is special, because it pertains to me and my Skyrim!!! :D
the biggest complain for me about the whole series is that the "talking" to npc feels really weird. The voice acting isn't so bad (And looks to be really good in skyrim) but the way they talk to you, ie. just looking at you, no/little body movement really destroy the immersion.

...
I'd plug in my computer to the fucking 50in plasma screen and play it in its optimized glory.
If I was so inclined to play it with a controller, I would use the Controller settings with the PC version as well.

I might by it for PS3 but I'm not sure if I would miss stuff vs the PC version.
High quality textures. Maybe steam integration? The second is a random guess. For all this mod talk... I played them all without mods. Sure you could go further into the world with mods, but it's not like the devs didn't make any world themselves. I respect that you can play with mods and extend the life, but it really does seem overhyped in this thread.
