As a lot of people are putting their thoughts on the ending, I will tell u mine as well:

+ Show Spoiler +
Alright, I am fucking pissed off as everyone else is, like, especially after I have read about Drew's first intentions of the ending, my mind was just blown out the window, as I see absolutely no reason why someone would ever pick a three-color-fest over the dark energy thing Drew was thinking about.

Srsly, the argument that synthetics always rebel against their creators and destroy all organic life is like the most stupid thing I could not even have ever imagined, especially regarding the happenings of Rannoch just before. It just seems so incredibly artificial and not logical, this simply can not be the reason a life form like the Reaper, which stands for pure fucking evil, to exist. You either explain the Reaper with some sick reason, which could have worked in my opinion if BioWare would have used Drew's explanation of a bunch of nations fusing together in an horrible way, just so they would be able to stop the expansion of dark energy. Especially this theory is obviously mentioned in the game before, as this was the intended original plan, if u remember Tali's recruitment in ME2, where she examines a sun which starts dying way too early, which is supposed to be of the dark energy expansion. Why not use that kind of great ideas? It would have made the game much more consistent in it's story telling and way more logical. =/
Or you can just leave the Reapers unexplained, which fits them very well just because of their pure evil presence, the evil u just have to destroy, nothing else, u don't want to understand their motives, just send them to hell.
Well, we have two great possibilities here, what did we get: A star/god/ghost/whatever child, which u saw being killed by a Reaper in the beginning, as a projection for something even fucking bigger than the Reapers are, some frikkin might u don't know anything about, which assumes to have created the Reapers (the real evil) and has motives for this moves, that are simply dumb, irrational, unexplained and artificial. Great, thank you BioWare.

Then regarding the actual ending(s). I will not bore anyone again with the obvious plot holes, like Joker flying away in Normandy, your squad from the final mission being on the Normandy and so on. There is the same problem for me, which is that everything seems just so artificial, especially regarding the EMS. So, let's imagine u take the "correct" ending, right, the one where u destroy the Reapers (Geth, EDI etc.) and everything just fucking explodes. First and foremost, the way war assets direct the ending seems kinda random. So, for example, u take the right ending and u have the absolute minimum of war assets u can have, earth gets vaporized. It's gone, over, everyone on Earth dies, but you know, the Geth die too, so u achieved your goal (-__-). Alright, I can understand it with my huge imagination, u had only a few guys working on the mega weapon, so maybe they weren't to competent and fucked something up badly, so the energy is not directed correctly and everything fucking detonates. I get that, but then, assuming u choose the right ending and have the maximum of war assets and readiness, u still see like at least like the shit is blown out of the citadel, completely fucking nuked away. I don't get the relation, how can Shepard be then on Earth or somewhere in between rubble. Ahh, right, he warped himself on Earth just like my Liara did on the Normandy (-___-).
Synergy is the final step of evolution? Really, BioWare, really? Mr. star/god/ghost/whatever child builds the Reaper, a bunch of ancient machines, that destroy all organic almost completely, as they would otherwise be wiped out by other machines (w/e) but then says all organic life should just fuse together with those bastard machines. WHATTHEFUCK??!! And why do the Mass Relays get destroyed in the Synergy ending, when organic and synthetic life gets fused together? Let them operate like they would, put them on the backs of some mega Elcors, whatever, I don't care, but destroy them? Absolutely nonsensical.
About the Control thing I will not say too much, absolutely not understandable why Shepard needs to die, war assets have the worst influence on this ending and it just sucks as there is nothing special about it (seems funny to say that when talking about the ending(s), lol).

All in all I want to tell my overall perception of Mass Effect 3: I really enjoyed my first playthrough (besides last 20 minutes obviously), the new combat system is very dynamic and simply fun, the first time for me in the Mass Effect series (Vanguard ROCKS in this game) and it got me emotional a couple of times (Mordin's sacrifice, Grunt's heroic action). BUT, and here it comes, I think regarding story telling and character development it was the worst of the series, let me explain. I was loyal to Ashley since the first game, always, never cheated on her, never flirted with someone else. When she finally arrived at the Normandy in ME3, I used to go every fucking mission to her especially, just so I could start the relationship again, AND NOTHING HAPPENED. She was literally the character that wanted to talk the least to me, which broke my heart, srsly. Pretty much all characters talked way less than in the other games on the Normandy. And seriously, when I talk with my crew members, I want to have actual "cutscenes", like it was in every part of the series. In ME3, cutscenes on the Normandy were so rare, the characters just tell you something random, u answer something obvious and that was the dialogue, it is disappointing.

just finished it, as a person who liked the series moderately (never played part 1) and not really up to date with all the lore, the ending was much more satisfying then I expected after hearing all the comments how bad it aparently was.

conclusion: game ends very satisfying for a casual gamer, only problem I had with it is that + Show Spoiler +
when you're finished you return back to the normandy just before you attack the elusive man's base just as if nothing happened, its a real immersion breaker :/

Yeah, for us completionists who had played every title and read every codex...it was a multicolored letdown.

Actually that's quite true. The main disappointment of the ending is actually felt harder the more you are attached or invested to the whole series. Thusly, the main problem with the ending isn't really the fact that it's not a good Disney-style ending, but the lack of closure and appearance of more plotholes and disjointed plots rather than being a fitting ending to the series.

For example, if DA3 is developed to have yet another main character that is not Warden nor Hawke with his/her new set of companions, and Bioware is to pull off an ME3 ending with this hypothetical DA3, the uproar and complaints will be much, much less. People are generally much less invested in DA world compared to ME world due to the way Bioware handled DA2's story, basically creating another side story arc that has minimal connection with the main story arc of DA:O. DA fans can't really feel fully-attached to Warden+companions or Hawke+companions the way ME fans are closely attached with Shepard + squadmates. Not to mention DA2 has other problems of its own too. Kinda ironic really, seeing that DA series is supposed to be more of the traditiona RPG genre when compared to ME series, yet due to how Bioware handled the series, people are less attached to the world.

The more I think about the ending the worse it feels. Everything from Cerberus Base to the end was 'meh...', and everything beyond the beam was 'ehhhh?' and then Anderson died in that 'awwwww...' sort of way and then it just became 'I'm glad Amazon game me a $10 gift card for preordering this thing.'

I've also discovered that letting Marauder Shields kill you a few times feels quite therapeutic given the crap you have to slowmo walk through.

Finall got a Quarian Engineer. Not really sure what im gonna do. Probably gonna do a 6/6/6/4/3 build and see how that works. Cryo -> Incinerate makes for a great damage combo and the turret is just all round good.

Anyone got any exp playin a quarian engi?

I kid you not, that part was probably the hardest in the game on Insanity. If you want to take him down, you need to land every shot right into the head, otherwise he just guns you down. At one point I thought it was impossible to kill him and that I did something wrong.

First of all you should pretty much always max out Fitness on every class to not die in a millisecond on Gold, so I wouldn't recommend 6/6/6/4/3. Writing from school right now, so I can't remember for sure what the optimum setup is, but you should max out the turret with stun/flamethrower etc, in other words all the crowd control. I would also say Cryo is more important than Incinerate. I went 6/6/3/5/6 on mine when I played it for a while I believe. (Or 6/3/6/5/6, don't remember which one is first of Cryo and Incinerate, but Cryo should be the maxed one.)

Then again I don't think Engineer is a very good class, nor do I really enjoy playing it, so I'm not sure I'm the best person to ask, I've only played 1-20 once as a Quarian Engineer so...

Fitness isn't the right choice for *every* class honestly, even on gold. Specificaly for Adepts it's actually useless, anything that one shots you still would and anything that 2 shots you still would. Better to just blow stuff up.

As to Engineer, it's the one class I've really not looked in to properly yet so I don't know.

I'm want to get the black widow so bad but damn these packs suck. Should I always go for the spectre pack and not waste money on anything else? Also, anyone have a solid soldier build? I've been using 6/5/6/5/4 and a 96-mattock, it's pretty okay thus far. Speaking of the mattock, which pack is more likely to get me those upgrades? And finally, what's all the fuss about the drell vanguard? He only has biotic charge + pull which is pretty stupid combo compared to Charge + Nova, imo.

If you want black-rarity weapons (BW, Wraith, Paladin etc.) you pretty much have to buy only Spectre packs for 60K, you have no other choice.
If you want to upgrade weapon mods, buy recruit packs.
If you need more medi-gel + rockets, and AMPs you buy veteran packs.
If you want to level up silver weapons (M13, Mattock, Vindicator, etc.) you buy special veteran packs.

Soldiers sucks ass overall, but I heard the Turian can actually be played and be useful on gold. You max out proxy mines, marksmanship and some other shit and snipe with a shotgun.

Problem with soliders is that they are heavily dependent on weapons, and weapons upgrade incredibly slow. I've been running a Krogan solider with a BW and a Geth Plasma Shotgun with emphasis on survivability(fortification for -DR% and battlemaster for HP/Shields with last talent = 2 melee kills for rage). Works pretty well. You got like -200% cast speed but you won't need it anyway. Your only cast will be fortification once per game. Grenades also useful.

Other problems of soldiers: grenades. Don't restock nearly fast enough to make proper use of them on gold.
I've seen carnage/concussive shot spammers do pretty well as support, but on gold every soldier is reduced to pretty much watching the adepts/engis/infils asses from behind, making sure nothing kills them. Don't expect to shine as soldier.

Oh the irony, as soon as I made that post, my next spectre pack got me a black widow. XD

Edit: Thanks for the clarification Latham. I always loved the soldier class, kinda sucks as he is not that viable on gold runs. If only they gave high damage buffs for the soldier. I haven't unlocked the turian soldier yet, I'm assuming he is also rare and is unlocked by spectre packs?

It's not like X can only be unlocked by buying Y, it's just that Y gives you the highest chance of unlocking X.
It's possible to get a black widow in a veteran pack. But the chances are microscopic. Like winning the lottery. You've got better chance with spectre packs simply, and that's what most people buy.

Most people buy what gives them the highest chance of getting the item they want. Others go for mass veteran packs and also get what they want eventually. There's no right way to do it, just personal preference and a lot of LUCK.

Also: Both turians are uncommon (silver/grey) not rare (gold). Both krogan classes are rare.

The Drell classes are amazing because of cluster grenades, especially against reapers. I don't put any points into pull on my Drell vanguard and only have 3 points in it on my Drell adept. You use your increased mobility to run from ammo box to ammo box picking up more cluster grenades to throw around.

With my Drell vanguard I used to run with the falcon before it got nerfed. Now I run with a shotgun and basically chuck grenades everywhere, using charge whenever my shields go down.
