Just finished it, spoilers in tags:

1) It was the buggiest game I've ever gotten from Bioware: The Citadel maps only updated sometimes, so finding random questgivers was an immense pain, and it just stopped updating certain maps, telling me that Barla Von was still in the commons for example.

Not only that, it would constantly make the ground disappear whenever I tried to get into cover on a corner and would insist that quest objectives that move never do so: (For example: A scientist that you give something to walks away as part of a cutscene, but afterwards the quest marker for him was still there for half of the game.).

2) The controls were terrible. Spacebar controls everything, and that's not the way you want to play a game. They had plenty of buttons to spread out the controls for the PC (E, G, T, C, even Z are acceptable) yet none of them are used and you can't uncouple all the features from Spacebar, merely bind them to a new key (which is suboptimal). I honestly liked the first game better for the controls and hated the Thermal Clip system, but that's just me.

3) The renegade options didn't ever feel like a choice. The goal of the game is to unite the galaxy against the reapers, but the renegade options at every turn involve you bringing harm to sometimes vast quantities of sentient beings. You end up with significantly less people almost any time you make a renegade decision, how are you supposed to beat the game when you alienate half the galaxy?

4) There are too many damn "Walk forward for 5 minutes" scenes in this game. Some to cram exposition in, some for dramatic effect, and some for no damn reason at all: + Show Spoiler +
Dream sequences
.

5) + Show Spoiler +
There is no paragon ending. You have the Illusive man rengade ending, the Anderson renegade ending, and the neutral ending. Where is the option to just simply make the fucking reapers go away so we can enjoy the harmony we seeded throughout the entire game? The entirety of the game is fucking pointless as civilization is completely over as we know it no matter what point you choose. Don't get me started on the Catalyst's immense stupidity and lack of logic that you are unable to point out.

All that said, I had fun, the voice acting was quite good, some of the storylines are incredibly deep, and as long as you follow the Paragon path, they make sense. It's not worth $60 and having the poisonous Origin on your computer, so wait for the price to drop, exclusivity to drop, or a crack so you can get a box copy and activate it without Origin.

I liked all the games to be honest. I think I enjoyed the overall experience of ME3 most, the combat in ME1 was just so bad compared to ME2/3, I think ME1 was a bit to RPGish. Being an RPG isn't a bad thing, I love Dragon Age: Origins for example, but I don't really think it worked for ME1. I also love the multiplayer.

I actually voted ME2 + DLC as my favorite. ME1 had a superior story but somewhat less replayability due to bad combat + idiot AI + Mako (I liked it in the actual missions, just not for exploration). ME3 would > ME2 if not for that ending. Gameplay wise they're pretty similar but ME2's DLC pulls it through. Lair of the Shadow Broker and Overlord were tons of fun.

So for me ME2 > 3 unless they fix 3 with good DLC.

Man, it's really hard for me to pick a favorite game in the series. The game I enjoyed the most and loved the series most while playing was ME2 because I hated the combat and the chore of the RPG elements which had no depth anyway (stupid useless inventory system) in ME1, so when I tried ME2 for the first time, it was pure bliss. That said, the story just lacks focus in ME2, it feels cheap that the whole game is basically "get another pal" missions even though they are generally very well made. ME3... I really don't know. The war asset missions was the shittiest idea ever, I can't believe they went with that, it's the number 1 think I hated with the game and FAR overshadows any problems with the ending. Seriously, you ran around the citadel looking in every corner, just on the offchance that there was a quest to complete. Huge waste of time, made you hate the citadel. I also found the combat less satisfying than in ME2, mainly because of the ridiculously low cooldowns.. I played adept with both sniper and assault rifle, and I could have easily beaten the game using no powers... or I could beat it never firing a shot because you could use powers back-to-back, even with such heavy weapons. That just ruins any feeling of tactics, not that it mattered all that much in ME2 either.

So I'll pick ME2, even though every game had somethings it did better than the others and some things it did worse.

Wow so just finished single player for the first time. See spoilers for my choices, opinions and the like on ending, close to ending stuff, and some multiplayer.

+ Show Spoiler +
Firstly I liked the ending. In a "its a cool concept" kind of way. That being said, it does feel like they try and rob you of an opportunity to fight on. There should have been an option that felt like 100% paragon. On that note, wtf I did not get 100% paragon (could not choose paragon chat option) with illusive man, I used renegade 3 times, to kill udina, kill kai leng, kill illusive man, what can I say, I felt threatened.

Also so the ending I picked was destroy reapers. Apparently that was the renegade ending? Felt like the best ending to me. And shepard breathes in, I was pretty pumped, he's a fucking terminator. Also the game's length wasn't what it had been made out to be, 100% playthrough (admittedly on normal, insanity next) in 21 hours on my first go, and I wasted a lot of time.

Finally some multiplayer thoughts, I am sick of trying to get the carnifex or salarian infiltrator, I have the black widow, I have the asari adept (op), krogan soldier, most shotguns, but am still stuck using the mattock (amazing weapon) and phalanx (good gun) until I either get the salarian or carnifex.

Oh and a bunch of things did make me sad. Last mordin mission anyone? I was like NOOOOO!! And most story missions I found quite good.

Also no real boss fights in the game other than Kai Leng huh? Not that I recall anyway. Oh and for those who care, I romance Tali. Love Tali. Good to sort of get a picture of what she looks like

Also I didn't vote but I would say ME2 and ME3 are both awesome. ME1 was great, but having gone back to it, I didn't enjoy it as much, and playing through ME2 on Insanity was special. So let us see how I feel after I finish ME3 on Insanity with renegade femshep xD

Actually, you did get the "best" ending.

+ Show Spoiler +
There are 3 forms of the destroy reaper ending, only one where Shepard survives. The one where he breathes in at the end is the "best" ending in that you need the most war assets to get it. Personally though, I find the synthesis ending to be the "best" ending in that it produces the best results. No more cycle, no more people dying.

we probably don't need to spoiler tag things anymore. Its well after the launch date for the story.

The price won't drop for the game ever. Its going to stay at the same price forever just like mw3. DLC is going to be expensive and I really don't think that any of it is going to be worth a 1/6th of the game. maybe in a couple years they'll drop 10$ off the price but origin isn't steam and I wouldn't expect any xmas deals coming.

the dream sequences are amazing especially with all the dead people talking to you in them. would have wanted it to play into the ending somehow but hey couldn't expect any better from it. me3 easily is the best of the series and every arc ending was amazing. the way that shepard was breaking slowly as well as other characters was never explored but seeing garrus/tali and joker/EDI

Could you elaborate on why the endings are amazing for you? I understand the indoctrination theory which is the only cool thing I see in it. But other than that, you're left with pretty much no information(even the indoctrination theory isn't confirmed). Not to mention how everything you did in past games meant literally nothing in the end. Just wondering if I'm missing something, or you just prefer to use your imagination to make your own ending?

Also as far as price goes, it is possible to get a sale on amazon at some point. Battlefield 3 was on sale there a couple times despite being origin only.

All three games were about even to me, not sure which was my fav. Voted ME2 + DLC though.
As far as the endings go... well as long as they fix it eventually I'm happy, if they don't... then not so much :/

Just thought I'd chime in and say I finished it some days ago, and I seem to keep finding aspects that bugs me about the ending. After everything that was built up..It's..just not fair.. :<

Aside from that particular trainwreck I had a blast playing ME3. The destination sucked but at least there were tons of fun on the road.

Oh and ohmahgawd spoiler:

If there was one thing the ending succeded in, it was making me feel uncomfortable. Seeing Shepard getting punished like that and then desperately crawling around on the floor, covered in her own blood..damn I can't remember the last time a game made me feel genuinly sad.

As someone who has been vocal about wanting an eding change, I should also add that I actually thought the game was absolutely amazing. Easily some of the most fun I've had in a game in quite some time. The endings were terrible but if I'd stopped playing before that I'd have come away very happy.

Whoa, what an influx of opinions! Very interesting to see the nuances people find important and things they like or don't.

+ Show Spoiler +
For example, I really liked dream sequences, they basically threw me back to the situation on Earth and they didn't take much time or anything. Fast, trivial, yet pleasant filler. I love dramatism, well made dramatism with strong audio track on the background. And these sequences felt exactly so. The track - An End Once and For All - which plays when ending sequence starts is one of my favorites in ME3 OST. Loved Mars (name of the track, plays on Mars, doh), too. Others are mostly good, but only some are memorable.

Yeah, the RED Anderson destroy ending is considered the best one as far as I've seen. Think so myself, too. But destroying compromising Geth and EDI with her sexy body, new-found love interest and awareness increase in the process, made me feel selfish and evil. Is organic life really worth such price? I guess my ending should be Reaper control since I feel this way. Better sacrifice yourself, ensure chance for galactic prosperity and keep "monsters" in check so they can destroy future monsters rather than get almost the same goals by destroying others, who aren't monsters.

@FireSA. Or you could get Paladin straight! :D Btw, the Reaper on Rannoch was a boss fight I would guess. Can't remember anything else either.

Seen people saying to get depressively emotional in some moments. I never felt any urge to tear up or feel sad. I really felt angry in the beginning when the shuttles get blown up by destroyer and kid dies. Same with some moments where civilians are killed, like Citadel or Cerberus missions. Sanctuary made me shake my head in mild anger (not as much at the game as at the fact that this is the human nature, this is what people can do to achieve their goals, even being idealistic.Yet I love this bruality and cruelty is in the game.). Mordin is smart, meticulous and I took his choice with a smile as much as I recall. But of course it was sad in a way since they didn't find a way to do things right without him needing to sacrifice himself in the process.

Monastery mission was great, atmospherically. Mars felt cool. Citadel was really well made. Huerta Memorial Hospital felt super cozy with great view.
Was happy to see and recruit Rachni again. I still feel compelled to them for some reason. Maybe because I play Zerg? But seriously, they are survivors and everything the Queen explained in ME1 made perfect sense to me. Besides that talking through dead bodies, uhh. *shudder*

Not everyone knows this but Morinth is one of the banshees you see in the last mission while defending missiles. Pretty f... creepy. And I love that choice, too bad it's not really anything special, just the same banshee as others but with a name-tag of Morinth.

Oh and I play female Shepard so no love with Tali But she has always been my favorite squad member with Garrus. In ME3 it's EDI + Garrus.

And honestly, for me, the ending from the moment you go for Cerberus base felt lacking. Fleet intro was nice but then Earth was quite boring without music in most fights.

And ASHLEY! Good God... Sexiest female I've seen in games. The things I would do to her. Even when she was laying with bruises in hospital she was more attractive than most of the girls are in real life in their best days. Not even talking about her reciting the verse from Invictus. Beautiful.

And Garrus is defo my love interest while playing as female Shepard Tali or Ashley (in ME3) would be as male interests.

@RA I noticed there wasn't a "Meh, who cares, the rest of the game was freaking awesome" option.

\begin intellectual rant
+ Show Spoiler +
I think that the most important part of the story is the story, not the ending. Stephen King bring this up in his Dark Tower series. He actually tells the reader not to read the ending. Roland's story isn't about the ending, it's about every step that lead to that point. Same thing here. I viewed my final choice in the series as irrelevant. My final decision changes nothing, so who cares? Could the final ending have been better? Sure. Does it matter? No. That's because I place far more importance on every step that lead me to here.

\end intellectual rant

To me, the ending provided closure, saying "You're journey is done." That's the only thing I needed for an ending.

edit: missed a close tag for the rant XD

Also, I think ME1 had the best story, but holy shit did the combat suck. I started playing it again last night with a level 1 character. My weapons, they do nothing. I miss having an assault rifle that can actually hit stuff.

Yeah I restarted playing it after finishing ME3 and the combat is so bad I actually stopped playing it, but now I'm just using Super Geth Gun and Super Armour cheats and skipping the combat for the interesting part of the game.

Does any1 have any good builds for asari adepts? I'm kind of torn on what to skill. Obviously Bubble stasis is a must-have. Then warp+throw for detonations. What about fitness+asari thing-y? I've been going for fitness to get the shields+hp bonus, but the asari skill gives me more damage from my powers. Worth leveling up or ...?

about the pistol: Carnifex is the best I think. But only 8 in chamber + 30 in mag, so very few bullets.

For Asari adepts, max bubble stasis and max warp. From there, it's up to you.You definitely need at least some points in fitness for survivability and I'd max justicar enough to get the level 4 weight/power bonus. I'm currently sitting at level 20 with 19 spare points, and I haven't decided how to spend them. I have warp and stasis maxed, 2 in throw, and 4 in fitness and justicar. I suspect that it's optimal to max out justicar for headshot and weapon damage if you have a carnifex (which I don't yet). As for throw, I hardly ever use it. Most of my biotic explosions come from stasis+warp. The only exception is when there's a big single target that I want to burn down with warp+throw. Even then, I'm not sure that investing more into throw would make a huge difference, particularly on silver and gold.

Heh, but the question is only about the ending. I think most people would admit that overall the game is at least good or decent. First playthrough was quite great (story and atmosphere wise). But if it would be your main choice in such a poll then I'm sorry I didn't think of it. I guess it's my fault due to my personality. I'm too opinionated, I never have "meh" moments myself. Have to make myself say "meh" at some things while feeling precise emotions.

That's chinese wisdom if I'm not mistaken - the road to the goal is more important than the goal itself. Came to learn that on very important occasions in my life, too. So I would agree on that definitely. Hard to always check yourself on that though tho :D

P.S. You forgot to close your intellectual rant!

P.P.S. I'm honestly shocked right now. I was thinking I'm in a deep minority with liking ME1 the most.

Fair enough. I am certainly in the token minority, and I don't know many people who are happy with a "meh" ending.

By the way, by far the best part of the ending:
