My record was swinging for 28, Enlarging my Water Servant that was equipped with fireshrieker and then pumping it a bit. It either eats a guy and gets in for a ton of damage, or eats their whole team or just kills your opponent. I went 5-0 at my prerelease with a G/U deck splashing black for doomblade. Only decent rare that made it into my deck was the 3/3 hexproof guy for 3. The sealed format is horrid. Almost every game I had got into a stalled board state. But I was lucky enough to pull a fireshrieker which breaks stalls nicely when attached to Air Elemental or combined with Enlarge. Also had Opportunity which is amazing. I had a pretty good sideboard though with a bunch of different counterspells and other blue utility spells to choose for each match so it worked out nicely. A lot of people were trying to do tricky shit with auras since M14 seems to be trying to push that theme, only to get utterly (and unsurprisingly) blown out by the multitude of blue bounce (Time Ebb and Disperse) which are both at common. General thoughts for draft after doing the sealed. Green is very strong so it doesn't look like the cards will make it far around the table. Blue and black have some very strong fliers at uncommon which can be backed up by the very potent control suite offered by both the colours. I saw hardly any white so can't really comment on that, someone played a Serra Angel against me but it instantly ate a plummet. Red feels like it might be a colour that is splashed most of the time for the sweet burn but it has a really weak creature base. I have a feeling that unless the stars align you won't be able to draft a good sliver deck. A lot of the slivers are just good dudes on their own, combined with the fact that they no longer buff your opponents slivers, it seems like they will just get picked as solid creatures to include without the potential downside they had in previous blocks. For example the 2/2 for 1G sliver is just a solid bear with occasional upside if you have other slivers, the other 2 drop one which mana fixes is super solid since it makes rainbow mana. There are a few in red which are a bit lacklustre and the rest are at rare so you won't see them too often. The last thing I noticed was that even though it's not a multicolour block, there are a HUGE amount of double mana symbol cards which leads to colour-screw issues more than you would think. I think it may be wise to pick fixing highly, maybe not as high as in DGR draft, but don't completely discount it.

Yea I mentioned it earlier but I definitely noticed this, even though I only went 2 color. I had several ways to mana-fix and needed them all.

I went GW and provided most of the creatures (also some tricks/fixing). My friend went UR for control, tricks, and a bit of unblockable creature damage. He had tons of fun with Wild Ricochet. The team we lost to went on to get first; one had creatures/enchantments and the other was milling. As soon as he could afford it he forced me to mill exactly half of my deck. He had a creature which makes me mill 5 when he comes into play, and allows the opponents to cast an instant or sorcery from the five milled cards... when they saw Enlarge they announced they were casting it even before I finished milling the five cards lol... fortunately I had a fog available. They had that 1 mana 'mill 5' card, and maybe one other thing to mill me pretty quickly. Ironically my partner had an elixir of immortality, but he played it on like turn 1 or 2. If he had known they were milling he could have held it back and try to get them to start milling him (Mr. instants/sorceries) instead of me haha.

I really don't think I wanna hurt the mana base like that. Count gavony like a spell, though, and what do I cut?

I went to a local prerelease this weekend and even though I couldn't do anything with the cards I got I did get a foil Scavenging Ooze which pretty much paid for the event already so I'm happy and just wanted to come here and brag about that plus I've been watching this thread for a while and jonesing for some Magic, and I can finally join the discussion.

Arbor elf is pretty bad in this list unless you run a few basic forests, there are plenty of hands where one of your 8 forests won't show up. Also for the list: have you tested trollhide at all? I'm thinking it might not be great main (seems slow), but I'm not sure.

But I promised myself no Magic Online. And I think without the convenience of literally being able to draft whenever I should be ok. Is Scavenging Ooze that valuable? You get one for buying Duel of the Planeswalkers.

Since the promo one is different from the normal set, the normal foil should cost more. Foils that are eternal playable generally are worth quite a bit. The promo definitely pushes prices down more overall.

Bubling Cauldron, Brindle Boar, Angelic Accord, and Voracious Wurm are no joke, also solemn offering is a card. You can draft WG good stuffs and expect these uncommons to wheel because no one wants them. Going T2 Cauldron, T3 Brindle Boar, T4 Angelic Accord, at pre -release weekend was pretty sweet. My opponent thought I was the worst player ever until I sacced the boar on blocks for an angel on 4. The rest of the game I just slammed dudes and upgraded them to angels while gaining 4 life, with which he just couldn't deal with. In the draft I managed to pick up 3 accords, 3 brindle boars, 2 wurms, and 2 cauldrons. On top of that nifty white sac spell and a pair of pacifisms, a pair of hunt the weaks, and an auramancer. Went 3-0 in the draft. I think this limited format has a lot of room for combo including the red black sac fx archetype. My favorite draft strategy is still UG tempo I think with random green fat and infinite disperse, frost breath, and time ebbs.

I considered playing MTGO, but to play that, you either have to spend a ton of money collecting cards to build decks, or you have to spend a couple dollars every time you enter a drafting tournament. One of my friends told me that planeswalkers is different, and doesn't have all those fees, so I think I'll get that instead. What is the general opinion on planeswalkers here? Should I get it?
