I don't know how turn 2-3 having a -4/-4 isn't reliable for you as esper, especially on the draw. That was for Doom Blade. DW is for specific creatures and 1 drops. WP is for catch-many early on. I don't like the terribleness of the card later on when I am building a deck for the later turns. The specificness of the card WP (and it is specific) when it can kill things something I rather not deal with. Also, it isn't -X/-X, its +X/-X which sometimes is relevant. Edit: As for that Sealed vs. Draft debate, I am not following the arguments for Sealed. I don't see how you are getting more value one way than you would another? If you are hunting for specific cards, then draft since you see more cards and there's always a chance people will pass you things they can't play. Still the card is better than doom blade especially since you are looking to main deck the card. It hits every you're concerned about while you'll feel like a moron hold a doomblade when your opponent goes turn 2 Aristocrat or turn 3 Valroz. Plus it will sit dead in your hand if they drop a sire or any of of the black colored bombs. WP Still should reliably hit 4 toughness creatures up to like turn 4-5 unless you're dumping your hand for 1 for 1 trades. You already posted the list of cards that doom blade can't hit and we went through it already so not going to re-hash that argument. I felt like a moron holding doom blade 2 standard cycles ago too, but that doesn't the card is bad. Plus that match up is so much more even if not tilted in Esper's favor at this point with Ratchet Bombs. So I don't understand why you play a card that is extremely narrow purposefully. It makes zero sense when the alternatives are better. I'm not rehashing an argument I'm fortifying why it doesn't make sense. 2 Standard cycles ago it was bad vs 2 match ups, now it's plain awful without something like go for the throat to back it up. Edit: The inclusion of ratchet bomb doesn't make playing bad cards better. Need the card to kill things before the wrath, and to kill things after the wrath. WP doesn't fulfill that role consistently, not the latter at least. ...I don't even... Edit: So you aren't running 4 Revelation and 3-4 think twice?
4 Revelations is no thanks, there's no time nor space to run 4. I don't even want 4 in the mirrors. Hell, I don't want to see more than 2 in 90% of my matches. Think Twice is currently out right now in testing, I don't like the card as much as others do and I think its quite useless outside of the the control fights, but again, I rather have more proactive spells in any match up right now. I am trying Azorius Charm in its place/role and freeing up the slots for test cards like Essence Scatter.
In either case, I just started testing last night and I am testing the Walkers version first since I don't think you can play a true control deck in this environment as our little removal debate already highlighted if nothing else that there's a diversity in threats. The deck is a lot of 2-ofs since its the start of testing and the SB is slightly dated, need to see if any of the M14 rare cycle creatures work as sideboard.

Running some draft warmups getting ready for tonight. In a terrible P1P1, I got Domestication, and decided to force mill for shits and giggles. Somehow, I ended up with this list:
+ Show Spoiler +10 Island 7 Swamp 2 Child of Night 1 Diabolic Tutor 2 Undead Minotaur 1 Vile Rebirth 2 Archaeomancer 1 Claustrophobia 1 Domestication 1 Essence Scatter 2 Frost Breath 1 Opportunity 2 Tome Scour 2 Traumatize 1 Millstone 1 Staff of the Mind Magus 2 Armored Cancrix
So with basically 4 copies of Traumatize, 2 tome scours, and a Millstone - could this possibly succeed?
I've also been trying Beasts & Slivers as a double tribal. Slivers are interesting enough that I always have to share them, but beasts seem under appreciated. Since they both run R/G, its working out decently so far.
Mono-white is also insane, just splashing for whatever bombs I happen to pick up.

And just like that, I quit limited magic.
Opened BombSlivers.dec in sealed. Proceed to go 3-6 over 4 rounds.
Door of Destinies 2x Sliver Construct Bonescythe Sliver Hive Stirrings Syphon Sliver Battle Sliver Striking Sliver Groundshaker Sliver Megantic Sliver
Lightning Talons Pitchburn Devils Seismic Stomp Deadly Recluse Giant Growth Hunt the Weak Lay of the Land Ranger's guile Rootwalla Verdant Haven Woodborn Behemoth Fireshrieker
8 Forest 5 Mountain 3 Plains 2 Swamp
I never got color screwed, land screwed or flooded, or anything. I don't even know how I lost.
R1 I won 2-0 against a guy who had a bad RG deck. Postgame I helped him rebuild into a B/W lifegain that went undefeated the rest of the night. R2 I lost 0-2 to RB Glass Cannons - Fireshriekers + enchantments. Game 1 He got me down to 1 life before I stabilized with Bonescythe and Syphon, I made it back to 20 life and got him to 4. Then he dealt 21 damage in the air to me with an absurd shiv embrace+fireshrieker after shocking my recluse. G2, on review, there were absolutely no plays I could have made to have won. Extraordinarily frustrating. R3 I lost to RG Ramp/Burn 0-2. R4 I lost 1-2 to a newbie playing UW Pacifism/Claustrophobia.
Every player I played seemed just as confused as I was that I lost when they looked through my deck (we're a pretty friendly LGS). At this point, I'm just saying fuck it, done with limited.

Took 3rd out of ~30 with green/red, using only 3 uncommons(Volcanic Geyser, Shimmering Grotto and Young Pyromancer) and rest commons in my deck. Pulled nothing good with my 6packs, but got a Liliana and Chandra out of my prize packs.

It hasn't been since M11.
The deck looks very bad to me, so I'm not sure why it's surprising that you lost. Slivers are fun, but they've never really been good to build around in limited outside of some very rare cases in Time Spiral block. Unless you stick your +3/+3 sliver, or a +2/+0 sliver and a first strike sliver, you've basically got a pile of unplayables.

This core sets very bland. I think its also very much like M10 with some of the cards they have printed as in its much slower than the previous sets.

I did an m14 6 booster sealed event at my local store. I put together a RG deck:
Creatures (12): Guardian of the Ages, Marauding Maulhorn, Pitchburn Devils, Giant Spider, Brindle Boar x2, Slivers x6 + Show Spoiler [slivers] +Groundshaker, Predatory, Blur, Thorncaster, Manaweft, Striking
Sorceries: Enlarge x2, Act of Treason, Molten Birth, Lay of the Land
Instants: Giant Growth x2, Ranger's Guile, Thunder Strike
Enchantments: Into the Wilds, Trollhide
I went 3-2 and had some fun with the matches. Into the wilds can be very effective, and Guardian of the Ages seems to get funny reactions out of my opponents when I play it. My first loss was match 3 against a guy with several pacifisms and other control-oriented cards which effectively countered my deck, although I did take a game off of him. I got mana screwed and then mana flooded in match 4. Even though I was only running two colors, I found the fixing provided by the manaweft sliver, into the wilds, and Lay of the land very welcome... I would have had serious trouble without them.
Other possibly notable cards from my pool:
Syphon Sliver, Wall of Frost, Tidebinder Mage, Devout Invocation, Bubbling Cauldron + Festering Newt x2
I also picked up the promo card (megantic sliver) and a six card booster pack including Scavenging Ooze (steam)

Is Enlarge just absurd in this format? I haven't touched M14 yet, but it seems like a bomb uncommon.

I can't answer that question directly, but I can say the games where I used both of my enlarges, I won!

It is very good, though it's often a green Chandra's Outrage rather than game winner.
Actually kind of worse, better comparison is a Geth's Verdict with a lot more damage tacked on
