I was looking over my stats, and found some interesting things in there.
DMR: K 187 (38%) D 90 (22%) Spread +97 Ratio 2.08
Sniper: K 48 (10%) D 22 (5%) Spread +26 Ratio 2.18
Needle Rifle: K 44 (9%) D 18 (4%) Spread +26 Ratio 2.44
Then I get to power weapons and I'm negative on all of them, and in all the close-quarters weapons. I think this is interesting because it shows me a few things I need work on, and obviously highlights my strong suits. My strongest game is in mid-to-long range fights. I'm significantly weaker when it comes to close range fighting (melee's especially). Most of all, what this tells me is that I'm not paying enough attention to weapon selection. I'm dying a lot to rockets, shotgun, sword, etc... power weapons. So that means A) I don't have them, and B) no one on my team is timing their spawns and holding those weapons well (it doesn't help that none of the people I regularly play with bother to hold weapons correctly).
My overall K/D ratio is 1.21, which is not good, imo. I'd like to get closer to 2, given that this is all social slayer, etc, that I've played; that means that I'm regularly playing bk's and dying a lot to them.
Imo, it's a good thing to look at to get a quick gauge on what you're doing in games, especially when you're bored at work. Lightrise wins the highest K/D ratio on my f/list with 1.59.

If you're just doing matchmaking by yourself it's not the case that the average guy is like "the sniper should be up about now". It'll only get really serious if you play consistently with the same dudes everyday and they take it as seriously as you do. IE getting put in onyx in arena and trying to get top 5% or something as a team.

Yeah, I understand that. The problem is I DO play with the same people all the time. And they are psuedo-competitive. They're competitive in stupid, petty bullshit like Cr points and stuff. Who has the best armor upgrades, etc, etc. It's fucking stupid, and annoying, but for now it's all I have to play with. I think a couple people I've played with on TL would be good enough to actually play team games with, though.

Why does no one use the Needle Rifle? My spread with it is almost 8.0.
And listen to this: Kr4zy k0r3an and I were playing Doubles Arena earlier on Pinnacle. He got rocks, and I got the shotty. He ended up killing an enemy and himself with a shot, then lagged out. So it was 0-0. I ended up just camping it out and letting the enemies come to me. They would just come one at a time and walk into a grenade or shotgun blast. And then they'd kill me with rocks or something, and teabag like they're MLG pro status. It would have been a 12-12 tie, but I ended up accidentally falling off the map after getting a kill. -_-

Maybe if you were better.. hahaha, jk, jk.
I like the DMR because it's five shots if you know how to use it.

I'd like it more if my aim was more consistent.
|
You ought to practice spacing out your shots. Crouching while shooting also reduces bloom for the DMR.
|
It's like a half second between shots, and it's good enough to reset the bloom and five shot someone. I think people just get too excited with their shots, and act like it's the pistol or BR and unload. That's not how you play with the DMR though.
|
Yeah, I wait about that time between shots. I'm not a noob who just sprays. It's just that my finger messes up or something and I don't get the reticle right on the head.
|
Yeah, I hear you on that. I was on fire with it last night, felt really, really good playing the whole time. Hopefully that same success will continue tonight.
|
Can someone please explain to me what is this bloom people are talking about. I thought bloom was a type of HDR effect how is that affecting my aim? Sorry, this is the first console FPS I've given a crap about.

expected to see some mantoss in here. got utterly disappointed

The bloom is the expansion of the reticle outwardly after each shot. Does that clear things up for you?

SweeTLemonS, for as poorly as you said you were playing last night, I was being pretty retarded too. I need to watch the films still, but from what I remember I was making some pretty poor decisions. I'm sorry that I sucked D:
|
I only really had one good game, and that was the last one, which was largely due to 6 assists from you. I think it's safe to say that neither one of us played very well last night.
|
Yeah...I didn't really have any outstanding games. I only went positive in two, and even in another two. I can't let that happen again.
|
I just looked at the games. I went +1, +1, -6, -3, 0, and +10. Not good overall. That needs to improve drastically.

Even after that practice, my DMR was shaky. I couldn't even pull off my five shot trick.
|
Yeah, I felt the same way. That's fine, though. With more practice we'll get better. I hadn't played any Halo games in about a year prior to starting on Reach, but eventually we'll get back to where I was, and where we'd like to be.
