In BG1, it's like "ok, I want to be a mage" Yay, just left town, begining my journey What, only 7 hp? I guess monsters are really weak right now A wolf, lets fight it~! Wolf Attacks, does 4 damage. WTF?! Thats 60+% of my hp D:

I tried tactics (on insane, because why not, right?), and got bored pretty quick when every fight came down to whether I'd make a save/they'd make a save on key spells. Far too luck-based and reload-heavy for my liking in a lot of cases there :| Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but 'oh, confusion landed, time to reload' x 100 is just rage inducing.

Probably fun to play but not really powerful. I'm playing RIGHT NOW with a shapeshifter with the latest patch installed, and i have a -16 AC with the Greater Werewolf change, and I do about 25 dmg/attack*3attacks/round, plus the spells I could cast if I actually took the time to de-shapeshift, cast the spells (like something of the Archons), and re-shapeshift. I am still level 15, but later in the game, with the "special abilities" you get around level 20, I will be able to change into a fire and an earth elemental, but I don't know how good they are yet. Just saying, but I think the druid shapeshifters are really good.

Last time I played a druid until the end of ToB, I was surprised by how damn powerful theses guys become. I recommand taking a druid with a reduced party. 3 or 4 members, and then, levelling like a b...

Druids get some of the best Summons (Elemental Princes, and earlyer normal Elements) and tons of good spells... It's really just the level hole that makes them bad in SoA for a large part of the game. But the really sad thing is... If you REALLY want to play a caster druid (so not a shapeshifter and do not have installed a fixpack for this)... You best go Ranger --> Cleric. You get all Cleric and Druidspells and some more Weapon points from the first few levels ![]() Btw: If your rolling Human i would no matter what class start with a Berserker (or Kensai depending on your Goal-Class) and just switch to another class asap... You lose nearly no experience but gain much more Hit and Weaponpoints... Thief is also good if you don't want to take one with you (the skills you can use at start are enough for Lockpicking and Find Trap iirc).
