This game is simply amazing.
I wouldn't bother with it unless you have a computer from this millenium though. I've heard lots of people complain about it not running smooth... yes you need a half decent computer.
32 classes that are actually all reasonably balanced, you don't hear local full of XXX class is OP etc etc. They took a lot of "public quest" group ideas from WAR in which giant epic rifts come out of the sky and summon mobs that a group must conquer. These are popping up all over the zone even starter, so you can be in an epic 20 man raid at level 5.
Did I mention the graphics were insane? I run it on everything possibly maxed at 1920 and man... I raided on WoW for about 4 hours last night then went to play Rift... can't even compare.
Anyways, if you have a decent computer and enjoy WoW and or WAR you will definitely love this game. Truly epic, I was very very suprised. 9.5/10

Last straw was last night. Pvp is silly, the cc is out of control. Played a few warfronts and just logged.
I think thats why I got bored at lvl 30 range. Pve became too easy, and the zone allows hostile 50s that can cc u till ur dead in a few seconds. Basically my solo experience ruined. I would normally soldier on but the rez mechanics are totally flawed..

That boss looked like a gear check and don't-stand-in-fire mechanic...at least the players weren't keyboard turning.

Ok, so I cracked down and bought this game yesterday.
I am currently level 23. And have been playing pretty steadily over the last couple days. And I have a few opinions.
Role/Soul System: Amazing, they give any class the freedom to do whatever they want, tank/dps/heal/support. The Soul system is key, and there is so many ways to play every class, switching things up is a nice change of pace sometimes.
Levelling: Standard MMO fare, but the Rift's make a interesting change of pace. Sadly I never had a chance to play when things came live, but even now, with a relatively low amount of people in the 1-9 and 10-19 zones, you can still experience rifts and invasions.
PvP: I just started PvPing at level 18 and levelled to 20 doing nothing but warfronts, I think I won 90% of the games and came close to topping damage/killing blows every game, but that is only 10-19 bracket. Regardless, I had a blast. And if your a competent player, World PvP can really be fun in this game, something i cannot say about the state of WoW since the release of battlegrounds.
The Grind: The thing that kills me about MMO's is the grind, now, I know most MMO's are built around the grind, and thats how they make their money, but I find RIFT offers tons from what I experienced, and I havent been this engaged in a MMO since WoW release. (I've played Age of Conan, Warhammer, Aion, Darkfall, Mortal Online, and LOTRO)
People complain this is a WoW clone, well.. they are basically right, they basically took the WoW formula and added to it. Pretty much the same thing Blizzard did with WoW, using the EQ forumula. They do alot of things right in this game, I don't find myself getting frustrated nearly as often as i have been with previous games.
I am also in another very hyped MMO's beta, and I haven't loaded it up since getting RIFT.
I think RIFT will be the game to play untill GW2 comes out.

Lol wut? PvE is easy for questing, but if u make a mistake you are going to die even in PvE. PvP ... i have pvped from level 10-46 so far and NO ONE, i mean NO ONE, has kept me CCed till i died. when a group of 10 people roll up on you then sure... but thats 10 people casting Control effects on you... no 1 single person can fully control another till they die... sorry it doesnt happan learn to pvp a lil better and stop bitching about things you have no idea of.
In other news:
This game offers a new world, Rifts spawn monsters that require many players interacting together to complete them safely. Some of these rifts are much stronger than others. For those achievement whores this game offers hundreds of hours of running around exploring the world. the Dungeons"expert mode" are intense require thought and control of the monsters within to be successful(something that cannot be said about WoW since the BC raid days)
The PvP system is pretty clean, every soul for each class has a purpose in PvP. some use Control effects, Some are Damage, and some just support every one else.
The Raids are interesting, you have 10 man raids outside in the world, once activated by the 10 people they are locked to it. even if 100 people show up to help them kill the raid monsters only those 10 get the Purples, any one who helped will get Planarite(main currency for special items) and other minor things for helping out. The 20 man raids are so far all indoor and use Rifts unique dynamic world to change what is inside of them, allowing for a smaller zone with much more content than previously in any zone.

I bought this game around five days ago now I'm not hardcore into MMO RPGs but I have a level 25 warrior and I am enjoying it very much so far. You will need a pretty nice rig to the run the game.. my computer is 3-4 years old and on medium I get 20 FPS in towns and 40 FPS in dungeons/world.

A quick review from a shard first cleric:
Leveling - Way to short. Took me like 3 1/2 days to max out. I know they said they did not want to make it a grind...but this is just getting bad. I remember when the norm in MMOs was months and months to hit max level. Now under a week is expectable. Sad times.
Besides the time problem, the quests/story/flow of the zone was nice. They were each different and the rifts were a good way to mix things up. I was to far ahead of the crowd to get to do any invasions when I was leveling but I have gone back and done a few.
Rift/Invasion content - A very innovative and fun mechanic added to the MMO genre. Public groups make this very easy and fun to do. I love going out with a few buddies and stomping some Rifts/Invasion.
My major gripe is the lack of stuff to buy with Planarite (the currecny you get for doing these kinds of things). I have bought pretty much everything (even the pets) from planarite vendors....so it is almost pointless to grind rifts/invasions for me anymore.
Endgame PvE - Like almost every other MMO to come out in recent times...WAY TO EASY. The first 5 of us to hit 50 on my server (Snarebrush) were all PUGs with no real big guild. We easilly PUGed all of the t1 expert dungeons right off the bat. We cleared 2-3 of the t2 dungeons easily with the gear we got from the t1 dungeons. I was healing for these dungeons...and the difficultly level of these things is just laughable.
I have not tried a Raid yet, but my buddy jumped into a PUG and they killed the first boss and almost the second. As always, endgame PvE in this game was designed for everyone to be a winner. Boring!
Endgame PvP - This is usually what I live for in an MMO. When I get sick of the extremely easy/static/boring PvE content, I turn to PvP for a challenge/dynamic gameplay. This game has really let me down in this regard.
Almost all of the healers I know have given up and just rerolled warrior. I am generally the only healer in a BG because the amount of CC/damage put out by everyone else is just insane. I hit rank 3 decently fast and picked up the PvP gear in hopes that I would be ok after that. After getting 5 peices of PvP gear, I entered a WarFront and found that it made almost zero difference. I am still charge stun + titan strike killed by a warrior. (No, standing there stunned while dying is not very fun gameplay...thus why all the healers are quitting)
Sabos also are a major problem. You can use like 3 keys and top damage done/KBs in any warfront. All you do is place 5 charges and blow them up...rinse repeat. Oh...and throw an aoe silence/snare bomb every now and again.
Diminishing Return is a terrible terrible band-aid for a problem that stems from CC in the first place. DR never ever works properly and should not even be required. GIVE CC A LONG COOLDOWN. How hard of an idea is that to grasp? I have said the same thing since day 1 of WoW...and they never got it through their heads. Make the person using CC have to actually think about when to use it...instead of mindlessly spamming it on everyone they see. 12 second duration on an insta cast CC is unacceptable.
After all of that being said...I am still subbed to the game. Unlike 80% of the internet, I am willing to work with something I enjoy to try to make it better. I will not just jump ship when I find one thing I do not like about the game. I will give them my time for a few more patches and continue to add my input. If after some time, they start to pull their head's out of their asses for PvP balance, then I will stick with them for a long time.
Overall - A great game to play while waiting for GW2/SWTOR. I have made some good friends on the game and there is a decent amount of rep grind / pvp grind / rift grind solo content to keep me happy for awhile. I wish they would have taken my idea and made a "hardcore" server (EXP rates cut by 90%) so that I could still be in my favorite part of an MMO (the leveling part).

i was thinking about to give this game a try.. do you really need about 4 days to hit lvl 50?

I've been forcing myself away from this game, it's amazing. I get a kick out of all of these people that are complaining about issues/quitting. This game already feels more put together than wow and it's only been out a few weeks. I can't say much for pvp because I'm just level 31 but I have spent a good amount of time playing and already have a pretty good understanding of how much content there is left for me to explore. The way I'm playing now (semi casually) I can see myself taking 6 months to get into the end game stuff. Every time I log on, I feel like I have so many options. Rifts/invasions always seem to be hard to ignore.
My only gripes so far are that there don't seem to be enough pvp rewards/rift invasion rewards. I've been doing quite a bit of pvp and I've got a giant amount of pvp points banked with nothing to buy. Same with rifts. There are still a lot of things that I can buy but I can see that running dry pretty quickly. I think the artifacts system will keep me occupied for a long time though. There seems to be infinite numbers of collections available.
I am really hoping that this game becomes successful because it blows my mind how good it is and I can see myself playing it for years to come.

Yea, people complaining about lack of things to do at 50 need to stop seeing the game as a 'rush to complete everything' and more as enjoying the experience. WoW has ingrained in people that it's all about the endgame, which I think has hurt the genre as a whole. I'm immensely enjoying leveling up at a very casual pace, spending most of my time in warfronts. I'll probably hit 50 in a month or so, which by then there will be a lot more level 50s, meaning easier to get groups for dungeons and faster queue times.

I liked the game and all, but its just not the game and maybe for me it's because of the typical crowd that play's mmo's(wow Ahole nerds) Got to level 50 very fast, it was pretty easy as me and my brother level'd up together which was way more fun then at 50. The instance's are really pretty easy, inless you get stuck into a terrible group which I found myself getting into more often then not.
It's to easy to be good at this game, as a Starcraft player I apprecaite it when I have something to always do and in this game it's just not there with the ability to macro in ability's into a 1-3 button smash fest. Now yes you can say don't macro everything or anything And i didn't for the longest time, intell I just started to not care about being the #1 dps. And when I macro'd everything in I was still #1 dps a little bit lower then playing straight up, but I didn't have to really do anything and it was a much safer way to play because i didn't have to worry as much about rotations, or ability's that activate from another ability, crit, dodge whatever. PVP sucks when you can macro in all your ability's and still be godlike.
My final opinion as I already cancled my sub is that it's just to easy, sure T2 experts can be hard if you are pugging it, but not really if you got any kind of skill in games and dont back peddel/keyboard turn. Pvp is lame,(reason i mainly tried out pve) they used the same system as wow, which is terrible battlegrounds. World pvp is much more fun, and you don't have to deal with the massive amounts of afk bots in bg's. But you don't get shit for world pvp so then again it's not worth it. I would say if you like to PVE then this game might have a place for you, but don't expect to have your pants blown off by this game cause it will just get old very fast. And once the next mmo pops out this one will die down for sure.

Yeah really, if you hit 50 asap in a brand new game - you're basically just asking to be lonely. I'm level 32 and I haven't even finished the third zone yet. I've been playing casually and just enjoying the entire world/gameplay variety/storyline/etc. I find that this is an awesome single player pve game. I think if you're burning to level 50, maybe you need to take a break from this genre of games because to me that's about the equivalent of getting drunk as fast as possible.

Khaymus pretty much covered it. Oh and pve is easy when ur a necro. Fyi it was a warrior that stunlocked me at the rez. Revive with like a 1/3rd health and get instagibbed by a 50 is kinda a joke. They should let u run to another graveyard and respawn there at least. But whatever I should learn to overcome the 20 lvl gap and not die in the first place right..
But thats beside the point. I quit mainly cause of lvling by pve became utterly boring and warfronts are still a joke. Tbh I find the last 10 lvls grind in AoC to be more bearable than this mindless pve farm/quest grind in rift. Theres just waaay too much repetition in this game.
