Im lvl ~31 ranger atm, do you guys prefer longbow or shortbow? atm I use longbow just because thats generally what i use for mmorpgs, but I hear people arguing that shortbow does more dmg. Im power focused ranger with greatsword and (obviously) longbow, with 50% of traits in power, 25% of traits in precision and 25% in beastmastery. Which bow do you guys prefer and why? And which do you think would be better statistics-wise for me?
Lv 70 Ranger here, I honestly only pull out the longbow mainly to spam the skills, use the 5 AOE when you deem necessary and skill spam bosses then changing back to the shortbow for its autoattack speed and to spam the skills on it as well. Once you get far enough in in your marksmanship trait... I think, you get a trait that allows you to pierce targets, which can double, triple and even quadruple your damage if you are in the correct position. IE target the furthest back enemy and then sit in front of an enemy so you hit both of them. I think.... the damage or at least it seems the tradeoff in speed is made up for in damage, but for this piercing trait, you can get more effectiveness out of it with the shortbow because enemies sometimes move a lot and you want as many shots down range as possible. and with the longbows range I never find it that useful (I've only PVE'ed so far) because if I'm in a good position to snipe then they usually turn invulnerable. I guess you could always initiate with the longbow with 2,3,4, switch to shortbow, 5,4,2 and 3 spam when as you see fit.

Finished the world, 100% completion, cheated a bit on WvW maps by using server xfers >.>''
Anyways...forever stuck on Frostgorge Sound's loading screen, not just me. Wonder what's going on.

Must've been exploring nonstop.
I'm casually lvling while making sure I 100% every zone along the way and I'm 62 with 55% world complete.

does that not mean completing all the hearts? (his 100% exploration)

Yes hearts are included in exploration. He completed every heart, vista, PoI and waypoint.

was super hyped to try out my first dungeon in this game got a group of 5 together and started AC storymode then 2 left in the middle and we couldn't finish it
is this a common problem with trying to do dungeons?

Common problem with MMOs online.
People simply have stuff to do that comes up if the run lasts longer than they thought it would. Most of the time you can finish a whole dungeon without getting replacements but don't surprised if someone ditches you along the way.

Gratz thats quite the accomplishment!!
What did you get for it?
I've only started finishing zones 100% about lvl 30 onwards. It's something i'll get around to eventually (or sooner if the reward is like epic!)

My friend was raging over only missing couple WvW things that our server apparently never seems to have access to for 100% and he didn't want to server transfer.
I'm still stuck around 40%, curse of being employed.

You might not think it, but being employed is a good thing

I got my first character to level 80, with 35% map completion, lol. i've pretty much kept to the Norn area only. i haven't even entered the asura main city yet.
the rewards for getting 100% on a zone are REALLY good, you will get rare/exotics in the higher level areas.

I want to do 100% completion but I am taking abit of a break and the entire Orr zones just scare the hell out of me. So many undead it's like a zombie film. Can't go two steps without walking into more of them.

I'm 75 with about 34% completion too. I can't even remember what most of the zones I've done are called or what they really look like, just flown through them.
I'm about 10 levels ahead of my story now so sort of forcing myself through that to get to 80.
It's funny about PvE for me is that now that I'm not really exploring (I usually have something I want to get done asap to get exp) it's not really very interesting. Once the "goal" of 80 arrives I can see myself wandering around slowly and enjoying it. Not that I'm not enjoying it now, I love maxing out my character (see previous posts by me) but I think once I'm 80 I'm just going to be doing PvP and maybe drop into a few zones if friends need help. In the last week my time has been about 70%/25%/5% in PvP, PvE & WvW respectively.
I think in a few months I'll go back and look at zones when I'm not fed up with pve. I got a bunch of dungeons to do actually, I've only done the first two on story mode. Probably going to ding 80 some time this weekend then just PvP forever. Need to find more Engineer builds. I think I might make a super tanky 8v8 build or something. Could give a support elixirs build a try (I have a third Engineer that I haven't played yet). Haven't actually tried double pistols since launch.

I've got about 70% complete by the time I hit 80. No crafting done though to make up for it.
There are several PoI's/skillpoints etc. that are inaccessible though for me still due to bugged events that block out access.

the rewards for getting 100% on a zone are REALLY good, you will get rare/exotics in the higher level areas. Speaking of rewards after completing some more areas, the loot tables seem wierd. As I got the same level of steam weapon (Charr design) for Ashford (1-15) and Diessa (15-25) id est 26. I stored them for future characters but it's still bothers me.
Are any of you fond of these mini-dungeon like the flame temple in Diessa or the jumping castles ?

what makes my instant skills go on a 3 second cooldown without firing off?
for example i like to magnet pull someone, net them, roll behind them and then launch them with my rifle into my friends, but like 80% of the time my rifle shot doesnt fire and i get a nice 3 second cooldown, making my whole operation useless.

If you get interrupted, for example by a knockback, your skill goes on a short cooldown. If you get knocked down or stunned, all skills go on a cooldown (except for skills that bypass the disable) for the duration of that disable.

Which shouldn't happen with instant skills AT ALL, since you don't need to face the target like cast-timed skills require you to.
Might be a bug imo.
