My apologies for assuming you were with them, drama is fun though. Get amongst it. Since you are not part of AA what are your thoughts on them apparently abandoning your server, are you intending to move yourself? That's not that bad at all compared to some servers lol. The queues are pretty funny at the moment, we've had ~25 people trying to queue at times and some people will get in within 10 minutes, some people take about 2 hours and a few people were queued for about 12-14 hours on Saturday and could not get in.
When I said 30min that was on a good day. It just seems completely random honestly. I'll Q at same time as friend, but the amount of time between us getting into the BG could be 5min or it could be an hour.
I assume AA was the TL guild that started this whole thread? I didn't know they left the server until yesterday when I read this thread.
I don't know, is it free to move servers still? If so maybe, if not then definitely no.
Mostly joined Shiverpeaks because me and my friend wanted a high population server that was going to be good at WvW, that looks to change now. Does anyone know where they went?

Eredans Terrace. It still is free i believe.

I am wondering how this game differs from other MMO like wow besides monthly costs. I've heard it has somewhat different gameplay but Idk. If I were to buy this it might be ny first MMO I play for more than 30 minutes. I usually don't like MMO games but is gw2 worth the investment? Or is it a wow clone?

It's pvp oriented. That alone means it's not a wow clone. There is no gear differential, not a wow clone. There isn't FoTM arena teams. The instances are hard as fuck. There's active dodging. You can change your "skill tree" whenever you want (outside of combat). There's no pvp in the normal area. WvWvW is great. Spvp is great because you don't even have to level to do it. Basically no, it's not a wow clone. it's in its own category and it's great.

I would disagree there is no gear differential at least in WvWvW, in spvp if you are running sub optimal gear or spec that's you're own fault but in wvwvw I'm doing almost 3 times as much damage now that I am level 80 and I'm still running around in level 60-80 gear.
Also arenanet seem to be going out of their way to make it so that there is going to be a gear grind at 80.
That said, levelling in this game is more enjoyable than most other games, it only really feels like a grind on occasion, rather than say WOW where it feels like everything I do I have to kill 50 of everything to get 10 boar eyes 10 bear feet and 12 wolf testicals, because apparently not all animals are made up of animal parts.

Spvp is where the pvp that matters happens though. And all of that gear is standardized. It's all about how you build your character with traits/skills/sigils and such. There is a small difference in wvwvw but with it being zergy as hell it's rare that it really matter. Even if you run up on one person they'll generally run away. That's been my experience so far.

Haha, thems fightin' words.
I keep seeing wvw referred to as the 'casual' battlegrounds. How is it casual, if your guild decides to not play for a night you risk losing a two week battle.
Casual is something you can jump into at any time like sPvP where individual games don't mean a thing.
Spvp will have ratings, WvW gives your server buffs and bragging rights. Both matter, it just depends on what you prefer.
How is spvp actually, are there any good streamers worth watching?

Is there any way for me to check what server i started playing on? Sitting at school, can't login atm

I keep seeing people say that GW2 is pvp oriented but I don't see why people say that. You aren't forced to pvp there aren't any open Zones where you get PK'd while your doing your adventuring/story. There are 2 types of PvP but I don't see how that makes it pvp oriented.

So after defeating the world boss of Sparkfly Fen to respawn, I have to say it was freaking epic. About 100 people fighting the largest npc I've seen yet and it was total chaos. Seven item drop for it too.

I was going to make one (haven't been able to play a lot yet due to time constraints) but people are going nuts about thief being wildly overpowered due to Heartseeker spam + stealth. Apparently sPvP matches are flooded with thieves trying to abuse this mechanic. Is this just typical internet whining or is there a real problem? I like the profession a lot but playing something easy/overpowered isn't very appealing.
Thanks in advance! In 8v8s you'll see a ton of thieves. A lot of the times each team is stacked full of thieves and you will die in under 2 seconds if a good number of them are HS spammers. However 8v8s are pretty much hyper zerging, there's hardly any structure in the first place. In tournaments you will see 1 maybe 2 thieves on each team so it's not that bad. Just solo queue tournaments or with some people, 8v8s are beyond awful. This post pretty much convinced me not to get it. I absolutely hate shit like that. Warhammer had witch elves by the dozens in every battleground. I hated it so much
Just because a bunch of players are using terrible Glass Cannon builds (it will be max two weeks before everyone playing can beat it), it doesn't mean you should skip over the game. It's only been out for a week.
Besides, killing thieves is super easy. It took no time at all to figure them out and beat them. It's such a simple build, when your enemy only presses one key it's super simple to counter. I even beat them on my horrible Power Rifle build (built for silly 8v8 fun) and with the Engineer Bombkit/Flamthrower build it's almost cruel to fight them. It helps that they just dive at you out of nowhere so you don't even need to go looking for kills.
You can easily build more support thieves that control and chip. I'm certain you could build focused on conditions and escapes and chip opponents down in smart trades. There is a lot more to thief than these terrible glass cannon builds. Pistol Whip build is a similar story but bear in mind, most of the people spamming this in 8v8 are awful. I'm not sure I've lost to a team with more than three thieves on it.
Also, 8v8 is not the main gameplay mode. It's weird that it even exists considering tournaments are 5v5, but do not take them seriously. Toy with a build in 8v8 a bit, then fine tune it in 5v5. 8v8 is for fun or glory gains. The zerg is real easy to ignore and counter on every map.
TL;DR - Thieves are really weak when played glass cannon. You can kill them really easily and build your own thief smartly.
Story: + Show Spoiler + I don't know how you can be sad that Tybalt is dead. He hasn't done anything and it was one of the most cliche death scenes in videogame history. The story in this game (I've just retaken Claw Island) is absolute crap so far. One stupid predictable load of tosh to another. It's hardly a personal story, I feel like a temp in the Order of Whispers who is being promoted endlessly for no real reason. Did none of the characters have friends or partners before? I'm totally unqualified for any of this. This Trahearne guy is the main character now and I couldn't give a toss about him. More free exp and items I guess.

PVP oriented doesn't mean forced to PVP. The point is there's no PVE content treadmill at max level, so the endgame IS pvp, because that's the only changing and evolving and consistently challenging content at that point.

Hi guys, I've been playing by myself and it's been pretty boring, what's the best way to find some casual ppl to join a party and play together?
Thanks!

After some more play i really think about stopping playing this (I don't give a fuck about MMO PvP).
Reasons: Combat is boring... Why do all abilities, except the Autoattack, have a (often pretty long) cooldown? I get that this can be good for PvP because it forces you to time your abilities right or be fucked for a long time, but for PvE this is just horrible. Why are there no situational skills whiteout a cooldown? Many skills/traits also seem nearly 100% PvP focused. The options also seem really small... If I look at my Weapon choices I feel really, really limited. Some work obviously better together than others which isn't exactly helping with this feeling. I'm willing to bet that 90% of the people just walk around with 1 singletarget-wpn-combo and 1 AE-wpn-combo.
Pet's (I play Nerco) Pet-AI --> There is none. Pet-Commands --> There are none (well, 1 "spell" for each Pet which for at least 2 of them also sacrifices it leaving you whiteout a pet and a 20-30s cooldown whiteout it... That’s not why I used/wanted to use Pets). Pet-Tanking --> They grab agro REALLY good... Except that the ones I have atm are not designed for Tanking so they die... and die... and die... The Pet that is supposed to attack from long range is in melee 95% of the time (the other 5% is the time it takes a mob to walk up to it). My "Healer" is mostly dieing instantly instead of actually healing me/dmg enemies, this is like that from lvl 1 on and does not get better (except that you get more other Pets which tank before this one does)...
Quests: YAWN.. Run towards Heart --> Start hitting shit around you until you see the bar move and smash "F" to grab stuff that moves your Bar too... Done? On to the next "Heart". Seriously, if I had to pick between WoW 1.0 style quests and this I would take WoW, comparing them to SWTOR or TSW is an insult to these 2 games and "WoW: Cata" is also ahead.... Events are like Multiplayer hearts, which is better but their qualities also varies wildly, some are fun, many are really.. plain.. But they often also complete the Heart next to them, so... More power to events. I just get the feeling that’s it's more important to actually have a ton of people at the event than any individual "decent" play... The Storyquests are decent, but also nothing really special.
Necro: Does not feel very Necroish... I don't see myself playing around with my own lifeforce and the enemies or really cursing and doing "dead"-stuff.. I see myself "spamming" spells/abilities just like any other ranged-wpn-setup class in this gamea with some monster/undead-skinned pets which also could just be reskinned as elementals or whatever else whiteout anyone thinking even for a sec that this does not fit with their abilities... I also probably should not use these Pets because most of them seem to suck.
Partyplay: YOU CAN'T EVEN DO QUESTS "TOGETHER". Well, you can, but grouping does nothing for you. SERIOUSLY?
I am dissapointed.

I would at least try a different character. Necro is really boring IMO. But some of the reasons you named are intentional so it might still not work out for you.
