Assuming this game comes out on Steam in addition to a standard retail release as so many other game do these days should the guild members get the Steam version? This way we all can add and contact each other via Steam, for example if we get the Steam version and someone is on Steam but not in Guild Wars 2 we can easily send them a message if we need their help in a raid or for PvP. What do you guys think? I would imagine it would be decided upon seeing what communication abilities they are offering within the game itself. For example we already know a structured social system is in the works already, because not only are they developing this game around guilds in general, but theyre even developing applications for smartphones such as the iphone and droid that will allow you to contact your buddies online and offline, even when you not at a pc to even use Steam. Think about that for a second and take it in. Theyre expanding the concept of being "involved" in an mmo. Not even steam would compare to it. You could communicate with your guild and friends in-game, anytime, anywhere. They've also answered the question of "what if i dont have a smartphone?" by saying their would be a very easy sign-in on their website that has "facebook" like features so you can chat, message, work your auction house, banks, etc. all from your pc even without being in the game or on a smartphone.

Is it only possible to get the rewards through GW1 and if you don't will it be a pretty big setback? Will those rewards from HoM be achievable by just playing GW2? I'll answer your questions one by one. Is it only possible to get the rewards through GW1 and if you don't will it be a pretty big setback? Yes, you may only obtain them through GW1, but the rewards themselves are not any better than what you find in game stat-wise. Matter of fact, most of the rewards are purely cosmetic. Many if not all players with HOM rewards will simply use them to decorate their existing armor/weapons they found in gw2. Will those rewards from HoM be achievable by just playing GW2? Not sure what you mean, but yes the rewards can only be used in Gw2, and only obtained from gw1.

Was more geared towards if they are a big advantage would you be able to get "even" by only playing GW2.

There would be no advantage at all, besides having a bigger wardrobe to choose from when decorating your character.

This holiday excuse is pretty weak when SWTOR is still releasing stuff weekly.

This holiday excuse is pretty weak when SWTOR is still releasing stuff weekly. Monk has already been more than hinted to be in the game, as for the next profession to be unveiled we'll have to see. And HoM rewards aren't just cosmetic. Some items you unlocked you will get at lv1, some other items will have to be unlocked ingame as you level with special quests. None of the HoM items will last until endgame ofc, but they have slapped on some good stats on a few of them so that the transition won't just be "type /HoM and get your lv1 character's inventory filled with gear".

Don;t take my word for it, go watch some gameplay videos yourself. Clunky animation was just the start.

The answer is a big "no". The developers stated numerous times the rewards will be cosmetic more than anything. Although they do have stats, and are readily available to those who've earned them, they will not overpower or belittle anyone who hasnt played gw1. You will outlevel them early, and from then on use hem as you wish for cosmetic purposes. This is the exact answer I was looking for, thank you. I knew I could find it somewhere but would end up wasting a lot of time knowing that someone out there knew the answer and could help me easily.

Nothing about SWTOR looks good at all except for VA and maybe writing. But I play MP games for PvP so that doesn't interest me too much.

You may get better gear (tho the gear levels with you but it will never be as good as most decent weapon/armor) but those pets will be useful from 1-80 and beyond. I look foward to having the black moa and white raven on my Ranger (black widow is w/e). I'm really curiuos to see the raven abilities since we have no idea what pet type it falls under.
