Didn't play the first one, though had some friends that played it briefly and enjoyed it (though they like to play their games hardcore mode, even if it's self inflicted). So many of their design decisions that I've read about so far seem really good. Before playing any of the mainstream MMOs that used tank/healer/dps (was playing a bit before WoW came out), I played a text MUD (still alive and kicking) that used a health/mana elixir system. Basically you'd buy a ton of elixirs and you can take a "sip" to heal 15-20% or so of your health or mana, which had roughly a 5 second cooldown. While there was a Priest class, it was just a different class. Everybody took care of their own healing, making the game far more dynamic whether it be soloing or PVP. Seeing Guild Wars 2 trying to move away from the "looking for healer" trend is really refreshing. Won't say that I'll play for sure just yet, but definitely gonna keep it on the radar. Couldnt have worded it any better. Im wondering if there will still be the availability of having one class specialize in healing if they still choose however. I know they want to get away from the idea all raids/groups need a healer, but what if groups "choose" to. Im hoping they allow for that. um that deviates from the whole point of not having healing. If one class has the availability to specialize in healing, everyone will choose to have a healer, i mean which group wouldn't want to have a healer? that will negate everything they are trying to accomplish.

Currently up to around 7k hours on the original(with tons of afk time though), and still having fun. Won't be joining in on TL, since I'll be playing with a multitude of people I've played the original with as well. But I think it's really cool to have the TL communtiy peek in there as well.

Even if half of that was AFK that is still stellar dedication I think our TL guild is going to be one of the top guilds in the game.

As with a few others who posted here, if you plan on making your own guild with friends and the like, dont be a stranger, see if you can convince your friends if they dont mind, working with us to join the same server, so that we may establish one heck of an alliance eventually. Anyone that reads and posts at teamliquid.net is "+1" in my book. I know we have the exceptions, but most here are quite the dedicated gamers. Im thankful to have in our guild some of the most hardcore gamers I have ever met. Seriously, I thought I was bad ![]() ![]()

Ive considered playing an mmo, but nother ever really appealed to me. I did enjoy a demo of planetside i had, but not willing to "pay to play". Thought about aion, but naaa. WoW, never. Its a F2P(free 2 play) game so all you have to do is buy the game for about $60 probably one of the best things about guild wars.

Assuming this game comes out on Steam in addition to a standard retail release as so many other game do these days should the guild members get the Steam version? This way we all can add and contact each other via Steam, for example if we get the Steam version and someone is on Steam but not in Guild Wars 2 we can easily send them a message if we need their help in a raid or for PvP. What do you guys think? so far NC Soft never worked together with Steam dont know how oyu got that idea

And to answer the original post. You can add and contact each other for any game in Steam, even if it's not supported by them. If you add a Non-Steam Game to your Library, it'll load the game with the community manager, which you can Shift+Tab to in order to use their messenger.
