Well, good ones still are, but the great thing about the PC right now is that since virtually no games push the boundaries on what high-end PCs can do with a game, most games run on dirt-cheap hardware (at least in min-settings), which means that you can easily assemble a $400 PC from scratch (and you might be able to go a lot lower via ebay or something like that) that runs a game if you're in dire need of something. And since standards hardware-wise don't really change that often it's incredibly easy to just switch out single components as well.

If a lot of people try to log on in that one hour, then the servers should be stressed and they would thus then have a great test for their servers.

Might just be a live bugtesting period where they went, hey might as well allow people in since that'll mean more potential bugs appear than we can cover ourselves.

If you're aiming for that sort of thing then you're playing the game wrong tbh. I never said im aiming for that, and even if i wanted i didnt play enough diablo 3 to afford it . Also i have a question is there any info about late game content ? You said that end game gear and level is reachable in short amount of time, what is the gameplay after u already get it.
Content for lvl 80 will be: WvWvW, sPvP (you don't have to lvl up before here), 3 Dungeons (with 1 story mode and ~3 exploreable modes each), and 3 (I hope I'm correct here) big PvE areas that are build around huge dynamic meta event chains.

My friend will play a warrior and off a guardian. So far I'm thinking thief, as they seem good at solo/duo pve and are good at wvw supply runs. Opinions? I'll plan on having probably an engineer and mesmer for spvp... maybe a necro as well.
I don't like Thief in WvW but maybe I played way to little. For WvW Ranger/Ele/Mesmer/Nekro/Guardian are more viable than the other 3 classes. For PvE I think it doesn't matter, each character fits in very well for duo play, just play what you like the most here.
I for myself will play a lot of PvE and some WvW/sPvP. My chars (first 5 for release, 3 and maybe even more (I can't tell the future) sometime):
1. Human/Guardian (female) 2. Charr/Warrior (male) 3. Asura/Ele (male) 4. Sylvari/Nekro (female) 5. Asura/Thief (male)
//
6. Norn/Ranger (female) 7. ?/Mesmer (?) 8. Charr/Ingineur (male)

In a stress test, they probably want a huge amount of people to log in, but why would anyone bother to update the game and log in to play for 1 hour?

Can't decide between Mesmer and Necromancer atm :<
edit: or even elementalist

i was so sure to roll a mesmer, but im afraid it wont work for all purposes. so my main will be an engineer for pvp, wvw and pve.
i will also roll a mesmer, but only for spvp i think

Does anyone else think the Sylvari race are just... better than the rest? They have so much more customization and look increasable, i swear could make 100 Sylvari characters and they would all be distinct. I wish they'd put the same effort into all the races. Also the norn starting area is so.. meh compared with the others.
I wanna play a classes thats less played than the rest, any idea on which are the least popular classes?

So....go to the others. :D
Sylvari do look neat but I'm also tempted by the Asura.

So far I've decided that my character will either be Asuran, Sylvari, Human, Charr or Norn. It'll then be either a Guardian, Mesmer, Warrior or Ranger.
I'm not very decisive. Damn.

There was a poll on r/gw2 yesterday, and Mesmer/Necro were lowest. Obviously only a small sample size though.
+ Show Spoiler [results] +Warrior (16% - 836) Elementalist (15% - 761) Guardian (14% - 737) Thief (13% - 685) Engineer (12% - 615) Ranger (11% - 560) Mesmer(10% - 531) Necromancer (9% - 492)

Engineer is the least played I think, on some poll it only got 9.5% votes whereas most ( all I think ) are over 10%.

maybe u should buy some charslots from beginning :D

That poll was asking what people plan to play on release, what they're already playing. Engineers not doing too bad. I expected Necromancer ahead of Mesmer though, that surprised me a little.

1st time playing in stress test/beta lol. Is the server I choose going to be permanent or can I choose for real/again once game is released?

you can change once the game is released, after release you need to pay

Don't expect too much from it! It'll probably be 45 minutes of login server :D

Was actually really smooth and had no problems logging in. Was a little confused why people decided to spend 50% of their time beating on gates in WvW though.
