never played GW1 and i havent read much about GW2.. that being said, could someone direct me to a post explaining the leveling system and how it relates to PvP? The part im confused about is this: are you able to buy the game and on day 1 instantly be max level just for PvP? Or will you have to level up first through pve/pvp? please explain it as if you were talking to a 6 year old, thanks!

If you want to play 5v5 organised PvP you will be able to fully equip your character with level 80 gear and skills/traits. The only advantage veteran players will have over you besides experience is the fact that they look better. You will also be able to hop into WvWvW instantly, leveled up to 80 as well, but your gear will suck. It will have the basic stats of level 80 gear (armor, damage etc.) but it won't gain any other stat bonusses like actual level 80 gear. You also won't have the same number of skills and trait points available to you.

![]() Kind souls with MMO resumes, tell me will this game get ruined by a cash shop in your opinion? From what I gather so far that's what happens to MMOs, crazy hype, great game when it starts out, you get addicted, then they try to get you to pay ten times more to stay competitive, correct?

This is not a game where you pay to stay competitive. Most of the cash options are like boosts or cosmetic stuff as far as I can tell. For pve, everyone will basically have access to same gear as far as I understand it, with some cosmetic differences for those that spend $ or grind a lot. PvP everyone is on same level, so no $ involved there.

I would be very suprised to see if arena net put anything on there that gave purchasers an advantage over non purchasers in pvp or in any significant form of pve (ie endgame or high end crafting). On the flipside, gems can be converted into gold which will allow anyone to use real money to purchase gear or items. Still i'm confident that anyone who needs to do that to stay level in their chosen area of the game will fall behind in the long run, in all the mmo's i've played with a cash shop the best players i've seen are those that could do just as well without it.

I'm not sure how I feel about there being no monk/cleric class that sets you apart as a healer. A warrior being able to heal for instance? Seems like I'm missing something.

I definitely see staff guardian and water attunement elementalist as arguably the best healers. You do realize this is a game being balanced around there being no healer or tank class/spec, right? That the most reliable way to survive is to dodge damage manually or use your extraordinarily powerful self heal. Yes there are healing spells, but they are extremely inconsequential and generally serve far greater purposes than being a healing spell and generally provide other bonus' or damage. There is damage and support. Every class can support in their own way. Guardians mitigate, rangers debuff enemies and buff allies for instance, engineers are the kings of boons, thieves are the best offensive supports (poison/traps), Warriors give massive crit/damage/stability modifiers and have multiple ways of instant rallying their teammates, etc. Also warrior has no weapon/skill that can heal others. Please don't say factually wrong information. On July 30 2012 07:39 Agnosthar wrote: I missed out on playing the beta weekends. As I said before, it's a game based around DPS and Support. Warriors may not dish out massive healing but they give huge damage bonus' to their allies and can also give them Stability (knockdown/stun/snare/etc. resistance). You have to look into it yourself a bit, but every single class has a way to support in their own way according to your playstyle. The best way to describe it is to say every class in this game is a Hybrid, in WoW terms. Everyone can take up a decent amount of damage and deal a little out and support a little too. However, according to your playstyle/traits/weapons you can choose to mitigate more damage for your team / apply more buffs, or be able to do more condition damage, or what have you. You'll also find there is no actual threat system in this game. It's basically whoever is the closest is taking the boss' attention. This allows for people to constantly cycle in and out and trade blows. In terms of how this works for boss' like The Shatterer, where it's a giant ass dragon and there's 60 people fighting him -- most of those huge ass world boss' work around more indirect (ie: summoning mobs) or AoE damage.

I'll accept apology in written form or email, whichever you prefer. Maybe you should stop acting like an elitist prick, I said weapons/skills not traits. Some professions are better than other at healing(not support), your vague post doesnt answer anything. How was my post vague. I gave a specific item to look at. In the traitline 'Tactics', under Sigil XI, you gain an ability that whenever you place down a Banner (you have like a gajillion of them) they give regeneration to your allies (I believe this also applies when you pick it up and put it back down, but that has a lengthy animation so it couldn't be that OP, not to mention you'd probably just die doing this but I digress) You asked me to show you where they had a healing spell. Incidentally, EVERY banner skill is a healing spell if you trait into that support traitline. Also, please don't argue semantics. It's a poor mans game that is only played by the truly desperate. You said "warrior has no weapon/skill that can heal others", not only do warriors have up to FOUR healing skills if they trait in Tactics, but you were implying that warriors just could not heal other people -- which is even more wrong. I said you were wrong, you asked for evidence, I provided that evidence, and now you're throwing a shitfit about how I'm an elitist and how I'm nitpicking and how I'm vague or something like that. So please, for the rest of us all: Stop. Some professions are better than other at healing Of course they are. I've said this in about 3 posts on this page alone, you see! I even said it in my initial response post to you. Perhaps you should take the time to read that again. I specifically stated that every class supports in a different way. Some are more defensive mitigation, some provide boons, some provide offensive conditions and it all boils down to playstyle. I never said some professions were not better at providing healing spells than others. I said that they were incredibly inconsequential and that ANet devs have said, and we have seen firsthand, that the ultimate way to fight is to dodge damage and to heal yourself. (not support This is working under the pretense that healing is not support. Which it is. It's just not the star of the show. ![]()

Warriors AoE heal for 1k using utility shouts with a final trait in the tactics or discipline tree. You can equip up to 3 shouts and you can raise the amount healed by using a clerics amulet and gem which bumps it up to about 2k each x 3 = 6k aoe healing on a 25 second cool down; 20 seconds if you get the trait that reduces shout cool downs. Also a trait allows banner to grant AoE regeneration and you can equip up to 4 banners (3 utility 1 elite) and cycle between them to keep regeneration up permanently.
