Aaaanyways, think I'll just try to roll face on keyboard with ele until I know wtf is going on. That's actually my guild (I was probably the W/E in that match) and if you're just starting out, pressure builds like that will be a bit harder to play, especially with how powerful party healing is right now. I'd recommend trying out the spike build that's being run currently instead as it's easier and has more defense (the one with 2 wars, 2 eles, 1 mesmer, 3 monks). You can probably find it being run on obs too as it's a pretty common build. ^_^ In terms of what's easiest to play in these builds, the necro is sort of an easy to learn hard to master type of thing, and yeah eles aren't too terribly hard to learn. Warrior isn't that hard either if it's in a spike build but it's a bit harder to be good in pressure builds like the 3 warrior one being run currently.
Hehehe what are the odds. I guess my main concern is finding a guild thats bad enough to accept a completely new player, but good enough to want to learn, play real builds etc.

Do what angra tells you he's definitely a way better caller and frontliner than me... Although I disagree on 3 warriors being hard(er) to play than a standard build.

Well, normally I'd agree that 3 warrior is super easy pressure, but with how the healers boon/heal party flaggers are these days, it's ridiculously hard to actually pressure (with any pressure builds, not only 3 war).. 3 war builds are played way more as just a flagger pushing build these days. :p If you don't pressure their flagger you aren't ever going to pressure them at all, it's pretty silly haha.

The game with the dual paras was pretty funny as everyone just stood around doing nothing at all, then someone just instantly died. Like there wasn't even any movement of the hp bar just full - gone.

Makes sense if I were in their position. Well just respect what they asked and move on.
I hopped on last night to see how the PVP was going in Gw1. And it seems not much has changed as far as the Mesmers and Monks.
I miss the old GW pvp days, and WoW world pvp for that matter.

Did they ever fix the WoWarding "bug" 50% block my ass one time I tested it with a friend and it blocked 85% attacks over 15 minutes of trials spamming it whenever it was up...

I believe they did. It got pretty bad and common at one point. Then everyone stopped hearing about it. Though I dont have any patch notes to confirm it.

So, the admins specifically said no to naming teams Team Liquid in their forum?

Please read the topic in full. this was brought up numerous times.
Back to the discussion: Does anyone know how the pvp in aion turned out? Did the grinding and such get any better? Or is it the same end game nonsense as before.

This sounds amazing. Since I planned to get the game anyway I'd really like to be in the guild. Only played GW1 briefly though, so I'll be very nooby at the start.

I liked the whole idea of flying, what I didnt like was nearly finishing someone with my assassin and then having them take off, pop a flight speed potion, and run out of view.

sign me up for the guild please, handle will probably be Sesmc, if the member aint full yet~

My problem with the way they handled flying was that you couldn't effectively use it to do anything, the combat wouldn't change at all except for the passive class bonus you'd gain, but your movement was extremely impaired by flight time lasting too little and just the clunky mess that controlling your movements would become.
It was basically only an offensive cooldown which had more downsides than upsides, and they didn't make anywhere near enough use of situational modifiers to single skills (such as giving more attacks while flying or while diving/floating different effects). I'm glad that we're getting that in GW2 tho.

it was a gimmicky thing in reality. They could have done so much with it though. Like the developers for GW2 said however, "We dont like the idea of flying as it removes you from the atmosphere and hard work put into the game, and over time dulls the entire scope of what the world consists of".

That is true, unlimited flying would have led players to find unlimited glitches and non-released in-game areas, other than forcing the developers to think of at least a couple dozens eastern eggs to put in
Btw I haven't said anything about myself joining, I hope I won't sound offensive but when the game releases I'll check if I can jump on some oldschoolers' bandwagon and get an early lead in the PvP scene, if that doesn't work out or if not enough oldschoolers will pick up GW2 (not likely at all) I'd be more than glad to join a TL-based guild.
IF the servers aren't split ofc, bear in mind that servers were completely separate with like 3 passes per account to change continent servers until after EotN. And that included guilds too.

Fully understandable.
Even glitches aside, the problem with flight is that some areas simply dont work with it. Like in Aion where only certain areas were "fly" zones, for no apparent reason mind you. Like your about to take off then poof, cant fly through that archway. Its like they didnt feel like adding those easter eggs and eye-candy or didnt have the budget for it, so were going to make you land for this part of the journey. No lore behind it.

Yeah, the fly zones in Aion annoyed me. I hope that if something like that has to happen in GW2 then they will have at least some kind of lore behind it...

Seriously, this was 3 posts ago? And from the very person you answered to? AND you didn't even bother to read that?
