No, I haven't. I just don't like passing judgment on that stuff until I get into it, as in really get into it. It doesn't matter who or what tells me. It could be the best PvP system there is and I wouldn't care until I do it myself. Still nobody answered my question about PvE which is what will make me want to log on in the first place ![]() Im trying my best to search, but ive been through the thread twice now and havent seen a question from you. :/

Would you tell this to someone who wanted to start playing BW? Not as much, for GW everyone just stopped playing during the year after Anet's announcement of the removal of cash prices on monthly tournaments. Later GvG got revolutionized down to its core thanks to PvErs complaining about mechanics, which led to unskilled bads taking 1 monthly tournament, following which Anet decided to just plain remove the turning point mechanic of GvG. Also the fact that Anet was openly supporting their flagship guild by making patches to the game that would suit their style, giving them inside info on them and releasing them on one case even on the night before the tournament. Also they had their position restored in a monthly tournament where they had been eliminated in the preliminaries, and they then proceeded to win the MAT. Idk how the metagame is right now, I think I opened obs a few months ago to see a ranged-physical metagame with the return of a very old-school midliners, pure dom mesmers and no physical support, with a few BS ele here and there, but seeing the few names that were left I can easily confirm that you'll only be playing terribads who have been playing for 5ish years and sucking horribly until everyone left. Whelp, sure missed the boat on that one. All HA groups require rank 6+ (at the VERY least), and I can't imagine the guild requirements to be any less strict (rank 6 is too strict, but there's no way to start from 0 right now. You're never going to get any fame with a random group of baddies). Anyone here still play PvP in this game?

Still just don't play HA, it's always been all about gimmicks and it won't make you good in any way. Try checking a few GvGs out, with the amount of terribads around it's going to be very easy once you get a decent group to get at least a poop cape.

The fact that you could see the rank 10-12s blush behind their keyboards when you would walk among with champ3 on was hilarious tho, always made me chuckle. EDIT: just wondering, how many dragons are there out there now? I remember when the first shared account got it the emote was datamined like a week before and Anet actually had to rush and make the skin because it wasn't even in the game yet, now that I think about it they might have thrown out a dedicated patch for it. srs bsns.

On September 17 2010 15:11 Adeny wrote: Figured HA would be a decent place to start at the very least, learn how to be less terribad. Anyways what would be the easiest build to play in GvG? Might as well start there while I familiarize myself with the general tactics/etc. Axe warrior seems pretty easy just look for stances and whirling them, but hammer seems to be quite a hassle. My main is warrior but I can unlock anything so w/e \o/ (a feature I really like). No clue what's being played right now sorry. If you or your friends consider yourself retarded then go ahead and play an ele, the best eles of all times could barely operate a keyboard without drooling all over themselves, I think at some point DF replaced lemmings with a trained monkey, but nobody ever noticed because they didn't get to hear that the monkey didn't have an asian accent. But actually for professions it's always been something along this line: Warrior: Either you're the caller, and you direct your team or you're the 2nd warrior, and you're pretty much like robin. You'll be yelled at if you veil->kd the 2nd monk, so be prepared for it. Linebackers haven't existed since factions and I don't think anything like that is likely to have made its return. You simply don't start your GvG career as the caller, period. Warriors are extremely hard to manage in gvg mostly because you'll have to have energy and rage stored up for your spikes, and that means having 6 strikes every 5 seconds, which isnt manageable even on a dummy. Getting your skill priorities up is the true skill that you need to have, and it's not easy at all. To close the frontline I should add dervs and sins but they're just gimmicky, if you're a HB hero and the metagame allows for some sort of full 5/3 or some Glad style 4/4 split then go ahead and play one, same if they fuck up a derv elite again go ahead and play an OP scythe sin or derv, just follow the metagame and load up a standard build. The derv is always a 2nd warrior in spirit, you won't call shit and go where your boss tells you. Ranger: you must have lower-than-average ping if you're going to play american although iirc the way ranger is played right now has changed a lot, if they are still running melandrus rangers all you have to learn is to keep poison on 4 targets up constantly and to make sure to get the effects from your ult on each cast. Interrupts are less important on rangers right now, still that doesn't make interrupting 3/4 sec cast skills from less than recurvebow range less of your job. Especially key stuff such as aegis or hex removals if you're running a hex team. Mesmer: LOL yeah... unless mesmers go illu or gay pressure hexes don't play one. Eles: if you can read this you're overqualified, play a harder class. Also don't flag. You need vent experience and map awareness for that. It's actually quite hard even if you're playing a retarded profession. Necros: did they ever make them playable? If so w/e they're probably hex spammers so read the ele part. Except you're not actually immortal so be kind of careful. Paragons: uhh.. chuck spears, do little damage, get no glory? Yeah the skirt-wearing freaks have never seen the spotlight since the 1st week of NF. Monks: Heal, prot, die a lot. Like the goalkeeper in football, if the opposing team scores a goal it's not only your fault, but it is something you are to be blamed with regardless. You need to be able to manage 5 weapon sets switching constantly from skill to skill and with the interface only supporting 4 sets you have to keep your inventory open, which gives you 0 screen awareness most of the times. Don't start by playing one. Ritus: retarded easy class, except once you cast any ash spell you drop the skill and you might end up like the biggest moron on earth. You'll see what I mean... General tips for frontliners are to fake your movements when going to spike a target, often by going to someone near your target but looking the other way, make sure to get adren whenever you can. General tips for midliners include strafing a ton to dodge flatbow ranger autoattacks and suddenly strafing to a side if you see a warrior coming your way to allow your backline to distinguish who the guy is actually targeting. I could spend a whole day instructing people on how to determine if a dom mesmer is making you his bitch but it's a dead game, why bother.

Babysteps! Do tons of arenas, warriors have always been viable, just think of yourself as a carry from DotA, fragile, with the need of a team on his back but then you'll be able to get your combos perfectly down in your mind. Target shutdown is something every warrior should learn, learning to queue your bulls->whatever interrupt you kids use these days on an axe warrior is needed, also if people still use shock axes learning to differentiate bulls from shock is crucial, as is making your target move when you want him to. GW PvP has always been about mindgames as well as quick skill usage selection. It's not going to be easy, not at all.

The W/rt is the backup flagger, hammer warriors often do that mostly because they are the only other character in the team whose speed increase is on-demand. Cripshot rangers are lame and boring, their stuff can't get dodged but they're there for the cripple spam, tbh I'd have run a melandru's ranger there. I'll take a wild guess and say that the necro is blood, since the last rework i witnessed they turned them into something like 1 energy nukers which is meh, basically you have tons of little damage spells costing nothing that you can't spike or pressure with, seems like a faceroll build. Flagger monks are boring and lame. Also WoH is the lamest spell to ever get reworked, srsly LoD was so much better for tactics and positioning.

Anyways, you should come play so you can teach me to be not terrible at this game... ![]() No way I want nothing to do with the bads that still pollute my friends list... Plus I only have my 3rd account left which I used for pve, I think I have rank4 arena and no champion points, I was thinking about lending it to you but then I remembered I have literally nothing on it, it's not even UAX. Btw I guess paragons got buffed somehow somewhere, I think I mentioned that a few posts ago, but the game has just changed radically and would take anyone a lot to get back on. Also saying ladder numbers means nothing, I heard from Jatt that they were just carrying some newb guilds up for money and with all the old guilds polluting the ladder with their spots being sold for gold ladder position means nothing. Just tell me a couple player names from each team and I'll most likely have some trash to talk about them. Unless they are scrubs without a personality, and I hear the EotN wave has quite a few of those. Basically the nerds who stayed are those who were too bad to make it when good players were aroing.

Mo/W restore conditions Mo/W WoH Mo/E WoH Aaaanyways, think I'll just try to roll face on keyboard with ele until I know wtf is going on. That's actually my guild (I was probably the W/E in that match) and if you're just starting out, pressure builds like that will be a bit harder to play, especially with how powerful party healing is right now. I'd recommend trying out the spike build that's being run currently instead as it's easier and has more defense (the one with 2 wars, 2 eles, 1 mesmer, 3 monks). You can probably find it being run on obs too as it's a pretty common build. ^_^ In terms of what's easiest to play in these builds, the necro is sort of an easy to learn hard to master type of thing, and yeah eles aren't too terribly hard to learn. Warrior isn't that hard either if it's in a spike build but it's a bit harder to be good in pressure builds like the 3 warrior one being run currently.
