For PvP? Probably not, you'll be stuck doing random arenas, it's impossible to find a guild for GvG or groups for HA with no experience.

When Gw2 comes out. I'm pretty positive that will change.

I hear that you can get exclusive items for Guild Wars 2 in Guild Wars Eye of the North, are any of them worth it? Guild Wars (2) itself isn't an item based MMO. In that regard, I don't think the in-game items will be worth it. I think the more your GW1 character accomplished, the more rewards you get in GW2. I might have made that up, though. As for the experience, I would totally buy GW. It's fun, even if you're soloing. If you have a few friends that play frequently, the game is a total blast. Theres enough content in the game to keep you busy whether you're playing casually or hardcore. The learning curve isn't too high until you get competitive in team & guild arenas. If you do plan on buying it, make sure you grab Eye Of The North & Nightfall. Those two campaigns are really really fun. Factions not so much.

I'm experienced at WoW end game raiding and up to 2300 arena. And I played GW (before any expansions) but mostly just did the missions.

I personally think there is other newer mmos that are better at the moment. Especially in the pvp department. When Gw2 comes out. I'm pretty positive that will change. Yes but Guild Wars has no monthly upkeep. For $11 I get Prophecies and Eye of The North. A WOW gamecard cost $15.

EotN is like the holy grail when it comes to end-game content. It adds so much, keeps you interested for a long time, and has a pretty sweet story + skills + new features. As for professions, the Dervish from nightfall and assassin from factions are really fun to play with. The ritualist is pretty much a must have if you plan on doing high level content (computer controlled ritualist!), but i wouldn't personally play a ritualist / paragon. They are slightly boring. It takes a lot of hours completing the PvE portion of the game, and that is still pretty fun. I doubt you'll have fun in the PvP department because the learning curve is so high.

If you're planning to pve you most likely won't even have heroes available (idk if they let you use the eotn ones without nf) and leveling in prophecies is a fucking nightmare. As for pvp you will be gimping whoever you're playing with by not being able to purchase certain skills.

You could probably find it even cheaper during one of those steam sales that go on. I saw the guild wars trilogy go for 7.99 during the major sale they had last month. Remember, black friday is coming soon. So who knows.

Another great video explaining a LOT of the most often asked questions. Felt it was worth posting for those just discovering this game.

Didn't even consider gw2 since I didn't really like gw1 but then again I got factions which I'm told was the worst expansion. Are there beta signups for this yet?
