Healers playing a more offensive/CC/support/sustain role instead of lifebots is a fun concept, and makes healing in PvP much more interesting. To that end, consider the support role in LoL. Most supporters in LoL can burst heal for about 1/4 of someone's HP, maybe twice or three times per teamfight. That isn't much at all. But they provide valuable buffs, debuffs, disables, stuns etc. That is actually a more enjoyable healing model than just keeping people alive indefinitely. Healbotting a random scrub who doesn't put out enough dps to get kills is REALLY frustrating for a skilled healer who is PUGing. I'd have no problem playing a support role without much direct healing as long as there was cool, active mitigation (as you described above). That's actually kind of awesome. I can imagine playing support and throwing around spell reflects and shit on my teammates right as the opposing team tries to burst them. Cool. The support roles were cornerstones of defense even in GW1 as soon as ours antiwars and antimages started losing the battle with they respective counterparts, no matter how good your monks were you started dieing. GW2 looks like takes the same principle while mergin the healers & supporters into one role. I just hope that when equally good teams meet it will be the same exciting fight when you try to disable each other for 5 minutes unable to kill anything until one small interupt lands on important spell disabling a part of your defence that cascades into a bunch of other deaths until you stabilize again.

I was wondering if the distinction between the two guilds is more about playtime and experience in previous games or if it is more about how you approach the game. Personally I am probably a bit too green to join a competitive guild since I haven't played in guilds that have competitive PvP/PvE. On the other hand though, I personally put in a ton of hours solo and make sure that I have a deep understanding of the game, character roles, mechanics and strategy to complete the task at hand. What I'm ultimately trying to ask, is where should I apply if I have the dedication of D1 or D2 but still don't have the experience of being in a competitive guild to make the cut?
