Just an update to everyone who has been out of the loop. We've completely redesigned the Team Legacy website to focus more on the PvP discussion and guides rather than just the guild.

Cut back to the OP. We founded this TL-based guild a long time ago, with the help of many staff mods, coders, and design artists from Team Liquid, along with the other founding community members. Along the way we picked up a lot of competitive like-minded members from around the web as well. We introduced them to Team Liquid as fast as we did our own "Team Legacy" site and they were impressed to say the least. I still find it hard to believe that so many new faces have never even heard of TL, or even seen a proper E-Sports scene. It's my personal mission to change that as well as bring the better Liquid community members on. Granted not everyone in TL is a role model, but since the beginning we focused on grabbing the best of the best for the guild.

Interviews with SC2 progamers, publications in the mass media, and many interviews with ourselves further, we've made quite a name, a respected one at that. We've discussed and started working out affiliate/sponsor plans with a few notable gaming brands, as to initiate the relationships needed to put forth a true competitive 5-man team consisting of our best players. To be honest, the market for sponsorships, especially those that are based on a game not even released yet, are harsh. It's the foundations and guidelines set forth by the companies that matter, and we're well on our way.

We're careful not to get ahead of ourselves, but we definitely have the support structure to start finishing products that were simply ideas over a year ago.

If you are a community member of Team Liquid and still wish to join the guild, you will find the recruitment forum moved to the general "Guild Recruitment" forum. It's important to note that beta is less than 2 months away, and we have to start closing the doors to our comrades here at TL and abroad as to prevent a zerg-fest. If you've put if off awhile, consider throwing an app in now. The guild is far more of a melting pot than it was when we started with just Team Liquid members, so keep that in mind. But if you have the drive to do something great in GW2, we hope you can join your fellow idra worshippers and terran haters. You can even help us convert the noobs to becoming full fledged Team Liquid fans <3

Over a year ago, this thread was simply an idea from my wife and I who both love watching Day9 and chatting with other TLers. Thanks for great last year and a half. We've come a long way.

Ey, um, I was interested in joining/making a tl guild for gw2. So I was glad when I first read this post.
I headed over to your lovely site only to find that's it's a "hardcore" guild, that shows in both the reqruitment method and the expectations from the members.
Can't you make another division perhaps for more casual players?
I'm still interested in playing with fellow tlers without going hardcore.

We're in the process of doing that right now literally. We recently had a meeting to give us the understanding (via poll) that we're going to be having a lot of friends/family/casuals playing with us. We don't want to leave them out for the sake of elitism or being "hardcore". It just isn't right.

Check back with this thread soon Steveling.

I've never been so hyped for a game. Feel sort of stupid but it looks so good. Every design choice, at least on paper, sounds amazing. God I can't wait for WvWvW. I've missed DAoC RvR so much. Hope they do it right =)

Oh that's cool! I applied for the guild a while back but didn't have credentials >> and I've been holding off on applying even for D2 because I think it's likely that schoolwork will keep me from being as active or competitive as I'd like.

Woah awesome mate!!!!!!! <3
This can also help the more advanced divisions since you can pick up on promising talent from the casual pool.
And it doesn't hurt to have a nice zerg party in WvWvW going from keep to keep killing and(mostly) getting killed, xP.

Great little message/video he put together.

I especially like the part where he mentioned the NDA "what it covers is not all that interesting anyway".

I still have a couple questions about this game before I get it. Is it like GW1's all instanced or is there Open world type play. There are moments where it sounds like it is Open world but then I watch another video which states it will be mostly instances.. So confused

Show me a video where it says it will be mostly instanced.

GW2 is nothing like GW1. It's completely open world, other than your personal instance and of course dungeons and The Mists (World vs World vs World area and ranked PvP area). Go read up on the game a bit, jah?

There! The personal instances and dungeons. I am just wondering how big of a role are they going to play in the game? Is this where the majority of the end game content or is there Open World bosses where you will see groups fighting for control?

The World vs World vs World Area, I see that the speculation is 500 person PvP event every two weeks. (This is an insanly awesome idea, I have to give major props to them for that.) The problem I see occurring is the fact that if it is only every two weeks, that means that it is not up 24/7, which leads me to wonder is there other OWPvP in the game or is the rest 10v10 max only. (After reading up on the Mists, the only other PvP info I could find was called "Hot-spot" which you joing battleground/arena type games and or tournments).

I'm not saying I have all the information, I am just trying to figure everything I can about the game. I know it is still quite early and there isn't even an Open Beta yet so there could be new eye opening information about all this.

To answer your question, I have been reading up on it but I thought maybe some TL members would have some more insight in the game design since I never played GW1. Sorry if I didn't clarify what I already knew.

Awesome to hear! I too would like to be in the casual division of the guild. I've been trying to stay away from this game to help keep the wait seem shorter, but since it looks like they are starting their marketing push I cannot stay away any longer.

I'm really looking forward to Guild Wars 2. I didn't know what Guild Wars was until my friend showed me a trailer of it a week ago. The graphics are amazing and the game play mechanics seem interesting. Hopefully it comes out soon this year, though I heard beta testing just started very recently.

Alright guys, I'm sneaking this in to all the TLers that would be interested in joining the more relaxed guild that just formed, before I post it anywhere else.

Keep in mind most of the hardcore community members from Team Liquid joined the more serious main guild, but for the longest time a lot of you guys have said that you don't really have the credentials/experience to play in a hardcore 4 night-a-week raiding environment, so here you go.

Legacy Vanguard
http://teamlegacy.net/forum/185-legacy-vanguard-recruitment/

^ This is the forum, please read the two stickies before posting. In terms of referrals, we use a very simple process to make sure your not a complete asshat, please understand. Chances are you know someone in the main guild already, and worst case scenario, all you have to do is hop on TS and get to know some people. We play League consistently every single night, as well as Starcraft 2 (obviously) and currently Guild Wars 1. We're not talking 6-10 people, there is usually never less than 30-40 online, a large portion of those members who would love to talk your head off about SC2 and E-Sports. Surely you'll meet someone you can click with.

We just don't want to open this guild to the masses of trolls and jerks that do plague the corners of this great community. We spent a lot of time over the last year and a half (since this thread started) weeding out the best TLers from the worst, and the single referral you need/earn will give everyone already in Vanguard peace of mind with a good first impression.

So there you have it. Beta is weeks away, hopefully you can join us. This guild is a zero requirement have-fun alternative to the far more serious TL guild. We still will not use the "Team Liquid" name for reasons everyone agreed to multiple times throughout this thread. Not that it would hurt anything, we just don't feel it's right.

See you guys there.

I really would like to join the guild but as a graduate student, I find myself only be able to play a couple of hours per week. Still, I really like the environment in Team Liquid's forums (not counting those that are found in Live Report Threads) and would like to join the guild that has a similar atmosphere when Guild Wars 2 comes out. Would you accept a really casual player like me?

Thanks!!!

Noone will ever match Team Liquid. In regards to Guild Wars 2 however, any current member can tell you we try to (in spirit). We heavily moderate our forums (which have become enormously popular due to our gaming guides) and share laughs about all of the latest SC2 E-Sports action.

So if that answers your question, I'm glad. Keep in mind however that many guilds will not outright accept a stranger. Any guild that simply says "join us, no requirements" is probably a guild you should stay away from.

In terms of Legacy, and its casual counter-part "Vanguard", we at least need to meet you in TS a few times, perhaps shoot up a few SC2 games while jamming to this epic song.

In the end we really only created our own forums due to the immense forum structure that the Team Liquid staff in their right mind would never implement here. This is a SC2 board, not MMORPG.com.

Hopefully I'll see you around TS Veldril.

I'm soooooo keen for this game to come out, moreso than D3. Competitive PvP will just be super legit.

Really hope it gets an Oceanic based server though ;o

Ah, fair enough. Let me tackle this then.

Your personal instance will be where your accomplishments are shown and shit, and where your personal story is done. Your personal story will not by any means be the "main" focus of development, it's there though to do because, we hope, it's really fucking interesting and whatnot as you decide how things start out in character creation. Yes, there are open world boss' and whatnot. That is the main focus of the game, Dynamic Events. Everything is done in an open world, with open boss', open quests, everything. It's nothing like GW1 whatsoever. That's not to say GW1 was bad, not at all, but it's not at all like it.

To read up more on Dynamic Events and open world boss' and shit, read this:

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/dynamic-events/dynamic-events-overview/

And this is a level 15 boss:

Note that this was like, a year ago and no one knew anything what was going on so it's not very interesting -- the point of the video is to show the scale of the stuff you'll be fighting, right from the get go however.

And you are misinterpreting what WvWvW is. The battles last a full two weeks. The area where WvWvW is split into 4 separate zones, where each one can hold 500 total people each. Since there are 3 worlds fighting, that leads to roughly 666v666v666 total fighting max at any given time. The matches last, as I said, for two full weeks and then reset and start over with new worlds after two weeks. You are fighting for absolutely enormous keeps, or doing guerrilla warfare with a small group taking out supply lines and fighting for points and shit.
