I don't play seasons. I stopped last November and am just picking the game up again. It seems like there are multiple decently working builds per class even if one eventually outshines everything in the end. I'm using my old marauder set to farm for the new stuff and it's still working decently even though it's not on par at the top end.

Not many people realize that D2 became a 'who can code a better bot routine' for the real end game while running 2-3 accounts hehe

The game is exponentially better than it has ever been though so I'm hopeful it will continue to improve. :D I donno how possible that is tho. Something is always going to be the best and the very edge (in this case GRifts) will always gravitate towards that best. I would guess there is probably enough variety for the average player.

Just hit level 70 in HC but compared to the characters I played in the previous seasons (Monk, Barb and WD) the crusader feels slow & weak. It takes forever to clear a rift, most of the attacks have a ridiculously high CD so that I'm just standing in the middle of 15 enemies waiting for my abilities to recharge. On top of that I have some troubles with managing my "wrath".

Hammerdin is the goto this season. http://www.diablofans.com/builds/57464-2-3-holy-hammerdin-perma-akarat However if you dont have 6/6 you probably will feel like youre not doing any damage. Dont worry though, its the same for all the other classes. For example one monk set, 6/6 bonus is literally 12500% damage for a skill.

None of the set is full ancient or with perfect roll, but pretty damn close to it. A lot of people say that the two are close... This is false. Carnevil out DPS Helltooth, sure, BUT the only way to make Carnevil viable, is to build it glasscanon. Helltooth is way way more tanky and easier to play than Carnevil. I play in Hardcore and love Carnevil's playstyle, but there's no way I'll be pushing higher GR with it when I see how much simpler and, more importantly, safer it is to play Helltooth. Still keeping the Carnevil for 4-man groups with a lot of CC/Heals from monks.

The community that played D2 past the first couple of years is a very insular community who loved a very specific kind of grind. A lot of the problems that D3 originally shipped with was because Blizzard listened to these people way too much. They were trying to make another D2 style grind and it was terrible. The game is in a much better state now. I don't play seasons. I stopped last November and am just picking the game up again. I'm using my old marauder set to farm for the new stuff and it's still working decently even though it's not on par at the top end. Dunno, D2 did some really basic stuff just way better than D3 imo. More extreme skills, a functioning trade system with an integrated item type for low players to get good trades (runes), no bullshit you are dead monsters except for iron maiden sorcerer, more crazy items and more complex item systems. Also the story and atmosphere still win, hands down. For me it was less about Baal runs, which I find tedious as well, but leveling was a lot of fun in d2 and it's not in d3. D3 on the other hand has probably the more interesting boss fights, more monster types overall, better level design and rifts and grifts are a nice mechanic and create a bit less repetitive farming experience. I like the reskills and it has the better set of support skills except for teleport. No duper, bot user or other cheaters. Also better drop rates. Uniques are ok for both. So overall I'd say it's about even.

After some theorycraft I'm going to put: - Furnace - RORG - Cindercoat As my Cube bonuses, and have Roland 5 set + Ancient Maximus for 80% bonus ele damage as my endgame. Going to test that out and see how it plays. With the 150% bonus attack speed I think I can finally keep Taeguk stacks up which means I can probably break out some massive damage and armor (hoping for at least double what I was dishing out last season). With good rolls I should be able to break 100 million toughness this season (especially since farming Hellfires is easier now), and I know exactly what stats I want on every piece of gear. I was easily able to heal 150k health per hit with my SB last season, should be even higher now. Gems are diamond in every slot (helps with Akarats and cuts the CD on shield glare down by 1/8th, which I'm going to need due to higher attack speed even with Cindercoat). I may end up going with a COE, but as I am bound to one specific element and am not doing a garbage can (sweep) build it's not really worth it just to proc fire 1/4 of the time. I stack crazy amounts of toughness so I can use Focus/Restraint instead of Unity and raise my damage through the roof. I have no doubt this will be able to clear TX and up to GR50 easily as I was doing that comfortably in the PTR with an un-optimized version of the build. Thinking about using an ancient Cinderswitch as my weapon as it has extremely high sheet damage. If I CAN find a well rolled Ancient Furnace (not likely, lol) then I can swap out the furnace affix from the Cube to something else...don't know what though.

http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Latham-2213/hero/65585444 Anyway, the game is pretty fun nowadays. GRifts are fun, bounties and normal rifts are decent, I like that I can gamble shards away for gear, or upgrade yellows with Kanai's cube for hopefully an ancient weapon. I did get pretty lucky with some drops like zumiassa's feet, which were my 1st lv 70 green drop, then I got unlucky getting 5 green harvester gauntlets in a row, and Kadala gave me my chest so farming now is incredibly easier. Just dropped the Ouruboros 2 minutes before writing this post, also very nice rolls I think.

I have a WD with 2 piece zunimassa's so my fetishes are permanent (those 20s ones were driving me crazy) but the playstyle is... not my cup of tea. I'm stuck around 550,000 damage and clearing torment 4 is a pain in the ass. It's so slow that in fact I'm clearing torment 3 on a regular basis. http://eu.battle.net/d3/en/profile/Latham-2213/hero/65585444 Anyway, the game is pretty fun nowadays. And I'm pretty sure most can also solo up to greater rift 50.

What is better? +Life %? armor? all resist? Are main prefixes that give bonus damage to skills even worth it, or should I focus on INT and crit to be an all-rounder? And Paragon skills? I'm taking move speed, life, crit damage, and... area damage?
