You're complaining because Blizzard are starting to give players some choice in item selection?
I honestly never thought I'd see the day.

An ARPG that is about grind? This isn't a full-blown RPG you're playing. I wonder, why do you play a game that you do next to nothing but complain about?

are you accusing me of complaining about d3? lol. how inane.

A well geared follower has ~200000-300000 weapon damage, and in conjunction with a ton of onhit effects you can get absolutely disgusting damage out of a follower. Not going to be viable any time in the near future(you'd need 12 gems upgraded to massive levels), but maybe in a month or two, you'd see a quad smite quad mini conduit with Put Gem of Efficacious Toxin onto scoundrel with the multishot + Show Spoiler + Poison all enemies for 1000% weapon damage over 10 seconds. Upgrading increases damage by 50%. Total of 3500% at Rank 50 Rank 50 bonus: All enemies you poision take 10% increased damage from all sources.
This gem on the other 2. + Show Spoiler +Critical hits cause the enemy to bleed for 500% weapon damage as Physical over 3 seconds. Upgrading increases damage by 50%. Total of 3000% at Rank 50 Rank 50 bonus: Gain Blood Frenzy, greating you 2 increases Attack Speed for each bleeding enemy within 20 yards. They may not be the strongest, but they'll easily be doing 10m+dps each to everything(mini conduit), along with probably 20m dps from the other stuff. AFAIK the gems only drop once per account, so followers wouldn't be able to use the same gems as each other, and wouldn't be able to use ones that you're using.

im not complaing about the mere fact that they add new gear choices to make. im complaining because they intend to add those new changes exclusively on item slots that already offer interesting options, while they do nothing to add variety to other gear slots that are super boring atm, like pants and bracers.

i wish they would copy poe's hourly, daily, etc. ladder system. only interesting thing i saw in poe. it keeps the game exciting for people who dont have hours to sink.

In 2.1, LpH and LpS is a worthwhile mod that you can take over VIT. It's not the greatest customisation but it's a start. There's not much of a comparison with rings/amulets now, main-stat will be dropped for a socket because it's the least impacting.

Not as inane as complaining about grinding in an ARPG. I think I'll be a hipster and complain that MMOs need too much time-investment.

sigh. that wasnt a complaint. i was stating a fact in response to the obvious fact that nothing has changed with the game. they are replacing one grind with another grind. untwist them panties.

Hmm, can't seem to see the part I wrote when tryimg to edit my post above on my phone, weird.
Seems if you have the gem on another character you can get it to drop again.

Seems if you have the gem on another character you can get it to drop again. lol that would be total bullshit. it means that if you have two main chars that both want to use the same gem, you would have to unsocket the gem everytime you switch between the chars....

I'll probably only use one of each gem anyway and do exactly that. No point trying to upgrade 2 of the same gem at once when you can just pay a bit of gold and get one to max level quicker.

i thought i read somewhere that gem drop rates were dependent on what you have equipped on current char, what your followers have equipped and what is in your inventory. so if its socketed in a char you dont play, it doesnt count. let me check
Players will not receive a duplicate of any Legendary Gem the character they're currently playing has access to This includes Legendary Gems in the character's inventory, its followers's inventories, or the Shared Stash, as well as Legendary Gems socketed in items in those locations http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/14569138/patch-210-ptr-patch-notes-updated-july-9-7-9-2014
i assume they wont allow you to socket two of the same type of gem on one char. imagine if you could get the +elite dmg gem on both rings and ammy. wow.

Ashearas will be the next Aughild's set. Unless Blizzard do something to stop that from happening because I can't imagine any set topping that in ridiculousness.
