Can you "lock" your level? How does one even do a rift staying level 1? Sounds difficult, too? Maybe not with the right gear, or I guess paragon levels are ridiculous at that point too... Huh? You are not running the rifts as lvl 1, only need a lvl 1 char to make the game... Oh right ok. So a level 1 character opens a rift, a higher level jumps in and clears it? So again, what's different about the outcome for the players that join this game to kill the RG? Different crafting material / gem drops? This is what I'm confused about. you get about 100 blood shards and otherwise useless loot.

Get a friend to make a lvl 1 char, opens T6 Game in adventure mode, you join the game with your lv 70 char and start clearing for RiF. You will get lvl 1 drops, so no souls/usable leg items, but you make 100 shards per rift. Now that kalada can drop torment only legs and blood shards scales with torment difficulty, this becomes the fastest way to gear a char.

I was under the impression that it was, since I've played as a mid-60s with some friends that were sub-60 (they didn't have RoS), and I thought I was getting drops relevant to my level. Perhaps not. That explains everything.
So it's all for blood shards, as a result of the recent patch... That's a bit annoying. Maybe I'm naive, but I always treated the rewards from the RG itself as important, and not just a blood shard pinata. It's probably just psychological.
Sorry to be so fragmented, I'm just trying to piece together everything lol.

Bloodshards dont seem to scale with level, but with difficulty (clearly an oversight again by blizz), so people make a lvl 1 T6 rift to get 100 shards quickly.
I find it rather unfun and i think i get the same or better items by playing normally in high torment.
|
rift it forward is unfun. the whole point of it is to get the shards due to the low chance of getting good loot because you only kill one enemy. funny to complain about l1 t6 when that is exactly what people want: fast shards.

I think someone posted something about it earlier, but the double legendary/rift fragments event is live as soon as servers come back up - http://us.battle.net/d3/en/blog/14005211/and-then-we-doubled-it-happy-birthday-diablo-iii-5-14-2014
To celebrate the game's second anniversary and the community that made it all possible, players who log in to defend Sanctuary this week will receive double Rift Fragments as well as a +100% boost to their chance to find Legendary items. This bonus birthday buff begins in the Americas on Thursday, May 15 at 12:00 a.m. PDT and ends on Thursday, May 22 at 5:00 a.m. PDT.
edit: uh-oh that was post #666 for me, I'm cursed to a week of blackthorne's and invokers...

Posted on the monk forums - We also want to let you all know that we will be improving some of the underwhelming Set items. The following Sets will be receiving buffs or redesigns to their full-Set bonuses in 2.1.0 and will be retroactive, so keep those pieces:
• Firebird’s Finery • Raiment of a Thousand Storms • Monkey King’s Garb • Thorns of the Invoker • The Shadow’s Mantle
Obviously 2.1.0 is probably a long ways off but I'm glad they are acknowledging how weak those sets are.

Should add Shenlong to that list! Make it as good as Danettas... 20 spirit cost dashing strike with a random rune !

Is there a VoD of this somewhere? I caught about an hour, but then I had to surrender to sleep
|
First game I created was my lucky game last night (T2). First I did some bounties, 3 legendary items and a plan doing A1/2/3/5. Fired up a rift, 3 legs. Fired up a second rift, 7 legs + 2 plan. Third rift, 3 legs. After that nothing wanted to drop. I wish I knew what cause these hot streaks =\
some pretty good stuff, too: jade harvester pants, zuni ring/boots, pretty decent azurewrath that I am excited about.
It's a good week to be playing if you can IMO

Seasons: When a season ends, the loot and other benefits will carry over to the normal game Players will be ranked per character and class Each season will have new legendaries
Tiered Rifts:
There will be different leaderboards for season and non-season Tiered Rifts
Tiered Rifts will also be separated between Normal and Hardcore The speed of clearing a Tiered Rift will take part in determining how difficult the next one will be Tiered Rifts will most probably serve as a benchmark for balancing classes
Nephalem Rifts: Pandemonium rifts were excluded from the options for Nephalem Rifts in patch 2.0.5 Rift Bosses will be tuned so that they deal pretty equal damage - this will not buff them though, but the opposite: the stronger attacks will receive some nerfs The progress bar will be filling up differently depending on the type of monster killed
Set Items: Set items will be available for transmogrification in the future Underwhelming sets will be revamped (No ETA yet)
Lore: In the early development stages there was an idea that Leah would accidentally kill Deckard Cain because she couldn't control her powers Chances are there will be a new Angel of Justice now that the 'position' was vacated by Tyrael The ending strongly suggests all the Prime Evils have been released, not just Diablo, but the devs aren't willing to spoil too much of the story
Other: Ground effects such as Plagued are currently bugged and deal too much damage - this will be hotfixed (see the Blue posts below) An interesting fact: the battering ram in the Act 5 Pandemonium fortress entering does not move - it's the background that does
The devs have been thinking about the idea of Legendary gems as a reward from Tiered Rifts
They plan on doing something about the fact everyone uses Emeralds almost exclusively for their weapons There are ideas about stashing the crafting mats in a similar way to the Gold and Blood Shards in order for inventory space to be saved Currently there are no plans for additional Stash space being added The Anniversary buff does not affect Kadala's loot

leg gems seem awesome, the rest are meh.

The legendary gems sound basically like runes and jewels from d2, and hopefully they won't just be exact versions of the current gems with higher numbers.
Also why not add another stash page and not change the crafting mats inventory system? There's room for another page on the current display and they wouldn't have to change as much and we would get more overall space.

It saves you the trouble of picking them up and putting them in the stash too. The mats will become auto pickup just like gold and blood shards.
I'm pretty sure the extra stash tab space is saved for the next expansion.
Leg gems will probably roll a combination of things like +x% cold skill dmg, +% skill dmg, etc. They should make socket available on other gear pieces aside from only weapon/armor/pants/helm/offhand if they wanted to increase diversity in builds.
