I have to say this makes the game really boring. I find myself watching TV while I rightclick a monster and wait for it to die eventually.

I remember when I played this game back in the beginning I played a full tank Barbarian and with that one I took much more damage and dished out much more damage than I now do with a witch doctor. And I died all the time. Now I never die on a too high difficulty. That is ridiculous.

And that is I want at least the possibility of dying. I mean there is almost no penalty for dying anyway, so why make it this difficult to die? So basically you went all tank, no damage and you're complaining that you character is all tank and no damage?

When I went all tank, no damage (back then like 2 months after release) I received much more damage and dished out much more damage than I do now as I am not playing a tank.

Well, you must be doing something seriously wrong, because you barely need any DPS to smash through Masters, even with self-found gear.

Back when i played after release I followed the threads here on TL, but im looking for WD builds and the WD thread hasn't been active since last September. I'm just messing around to see some of the changes before determining if I want to buy the expansion or not, but would be nice to see what builds people are playing with. Thanks in advance! My build I think is pretty similar to what most people run. Spam Spirit Barrage Well of Souls, (you must have Rush of Essence as a passive). The dogs help keep me alive. Spirit walk to get out of danger and get mana back if you are empty. Soul harvest for extra intelligence, i use soul to waste so I don't have to refresh it too often. BBV with Slam Dance for packs. Fire bats is good with large packs of units and if you are waiting for your RoE to give you back some mana. Passives are optional depending on your skills, except for Rush of Essence. I dump my Paragon points into Life on Hit, Vita/Int, Life per second and Critical Hit Damage.

You might find steamrolling mobs on a lower difficulty to be just as boring as unloading on the same mobs for an eternity until they die, but your weapon is a major DPS bottleneck right now and there's not much you can do about that other than farming (or buying a budget rare upgrade off the AH before it shuts down, which is what I did when I came back). You can craft gear as recommended by others; best slots for that are probably gloves/shoulders/bracers. Some recommended farming: - Full playthrough (with reset quests) on Normal, speedrunning for legendaries; kill only champions/elites/goblins/bosses. Guaranteed legendary off SK. You can also just do this on your preferred difficulty if you find it more fun; I do T1 with 150k profile DPS. - Core of Arreat (set quest to Heart of Sin, take waypoint, run to entry to Azmodan for checkpoint, TP and leave game, restart game, take portal, run backwards through to waypoint opening the chests and killing champions/elites/goblins, take waypoint, leave game, restart, take portal, etc.)

Another point: DPS for all chars relies heavily on the crit chance + crit damage combo, which will multiply your damage a few times. However, crit chance is only good when you have crit damage, and crit damage is only good when you have crit chance, so as you have neither, it may not show up as a big upgrade on the first item you get it on. So make sure to get crit chance on as many as possible (preferably all) of both rings, gloves, ammy, off-hand and helm. Also get as much crit damage as you can get (without cutting too much into crit chance). Crit damage rolls on rings, ammy, gloves and weapon. Also a socket in the weapon is a big plus, as you can get a lot more crit damage. Your off-hand has particular room for improvement, and I think it is because they are bugged in loot 2.0. Likely you can find muuuuch better on the AH (which will be pre-loot 2.0) for cheap. Just go for high average damage and like 8%+ crit chance. You should be able to find a better weapon as well. If you get crit damage and/or socket, that is worth like 50-100 dps each, so a weapon with 950 dps, socket and 65% crit damage is likely better than a 1050 weapon with no crit damage or socket. Compare to my char to see a bit what you are aiming for. It's a wizard, but principle is the same. I have about same toughness as you, but a lot more DPS, and it is all but slow to play. I am probably too fragile for my dps though. but that is a different story. ![]()
