So the New PvP system means you'll have to queue into a match to fight other people?
No more PKing and griefing? Blizzard is putting PvP into a ranking system... very interesting. What happened to open games just to duel other players. where people left and came freely. They said they'll look into PvP outside of a ranking system, but only said for friends and mutually chosen teams. Will these arenas have towns?
No more joining a game and owning noobs for fun? Me and my brother always enjoyed joining a open game and then it becoming 6 versus 2 (us), and we'd win (legit characters mind you).
A ladder system based on PvP? Will diablo 3 slowly turn into some kind of sport? Clearly PvP ladder rankings will be based off of items as well as skill, will this be fair?
How will Hardcore PvP be effected? Will your player not die if it dies in a PvP ranked match? or Will you be able to leave and it'll count as a loss?
Lets hope Bnet 2.0 upgrades sometime. (but that's for a whole other topic)
Seems they are pretty threatened by BLC, hence the early introduction to a VERY unfinished Diablo 3v3 (they usually wait much longer with announcements like these) and also of course by DOTA 2, hence the Blizz-made DOTA mod.
Interesting! 3v3 with no healing (i suppose there'll be no healing!) will be interesting, i also wonder how they're gonna handle the fact that potions probably won't be allowed, regenerative health once you're "resting" (immobile?) perhaps?
Looking forward to some gameplay vids!
Im sure blizz is "threatened" by a game with a tiny playerbase...
More likely they do what blizz does and takes good ideas and puts them in a polished game.
It's more about utilizing the good ideas that someone else came up with before they get trademarked, just like they are doing with WoW and other MMOs.
They have their own designers but if someone else comes up with a brilliant concept that they can replicate and integrate into their games why not do so. Heck even plants vs zombies has been ported into WoW.
Yeah no kidding... atleast don't give away class defining skills like Teleport!
To be honest, in diablo 2 if you were to win in a duel against a sorceress, it was significantly harder if you were a barbarian, necromancer, or druid even.
I remember before runewords came out, I just had a thunderstorm sorceress and no one could touch me. Just tele around at the speed of light and I would eventually teleport through the screen my opponent was at and he'll die.

So, because Blizzard fucked up with balancing teleport, give it to everyone? Point is, it is stupid design...

Well they are balancing teleport, by giving other more mobility.

It will probably be like Arena in WoW. Balanced up to a point, but certainly not balanced enought to be a proper esport.
The thing is though that WoW always had PvE balance to think about while diablo 3 won't have that issue i guess, which means it gets easier to balance pvp

They are going to need spells to work differently or be less effective in pvp than in pve, something wow refused to implement.

Or just balance it for PvP, then look at the PvE and say "Hmm, with the skills in the game, what is reasonable for this boss?"

The game is first and foremost a pve game, pvers are their big source of income, it would be silly for them from a business perspective to prioritize pvp.
I'm not really sure what I think about their announcements at blizzcon. The Demon Hunter is cool, but I mean the high heels seem kinda goofy for fighting demons (Kinda reminded me of Bayonetta). And I'm sure a good portion of people looking forward to the game screamed WoW; the character basically looks like sylvannas.
Then in one of the panels they were showing off skill runes and skills, and I couldn't tell if some of the spells were jokes or not. The witch doctor made like a group of bloody zombie bears appear out of nowhere, run in a line, then go underground. And the Monk shoots a giant bell of light, the Barb throws a giant magic spear. A lot of the attacks looked like some one was holding a rave in the middle of the fight.
I liked some of the gameplay ideas like the talisman, and how the skills trees work. But the good is mixed in with what I think is bad, and it comes out to pretty meh. Maybe I just had my expectations too high.
I'm a bit scared that the game is simply too flashy so far. I don't mind flashy to be precise. Diablo 2 was flashy enough but it had a refined look to it and it still fit in the diablo universe IMO. A lot of the skills we are seeing seem like light shows in Diablo 3 and fit more in the Warcraft universe than the Diablo one for me.
Not a big fan of the class selection as well so far. Barbarian is the only one I care for, maybe the Demon Hunter as well from what we've seen so far which is not much. I'll have to actually play them to be sure though.
I'll still buy the game because I loved Diablo 2 but I'm not too confident in it. It reminds me of Torchlight, but with even flashier graphics. And of course, since it's made by Blizzard we can expect at least 1 or 2 giant fuck ups somewhere along the way that will either take years to fix or never be fixed, because we don't truly want chat channels.
Last but not least, I'm torn on character re-rolls. I played Diablo 2 for a decade because I kept making new characters but Diablo 3 will make that pointless. It's fun in that I won't need to remake a character because I put a point in the wrong skill, but in the long run it might kill replay value for me.
To be positive, the combat looks fun (hey, Torchlight was fun... just no replay value) and the scenery looks good. Hopefully they can bring the Diablo 1 atmosphere in here and make a truly creepy game by focusing on good music tracks and storyline. The crafting system will be my bane and cause me to lose many hours of my life no doubt. Overall I have no doubt I will enjoy the game. I'm just hoping it will be as amazing as we all know it can be.

Or just make it like Guild Wars, where some spells work differently in PvP/PvE and some spells are PvP/PvE exclusive (ie. PvE skills won't work on players and vice versa).
Edit: And this demon hunter looks like some bowazon/trapsin combo. I wish they stopped introducing classes like that and instead made your archetypal fantasy classes (wizard, warrior, rogue, priest) and let you customize them to suit your needs. (ie: barbarian = warrior with light armour and two weapons for example, which could be achieved by selecting certain skills).
Arenas have me a little concerned... I hope they don't make it like the WoW system where you get PVP gear. The only gear you should get is from PVE.
Or in general don't constantly add items to the game, I liked in D2 getting every single thing to the point of perfection. I hope this isn't a problem, but in WoW their was monthly fees, so this will probably be a reason against constant new arena seasons.
I'm really sick of their character designs. The "demon hunter" looks just like a NE hunter port with the huge spiky shoulders and glowing eyes.
What is it with giant shoulder pads and glowing eyes anyway? It's like they paste it on any character to make it look "cool" but all it does it is make the character look like a 8th grader worked on it for his arts and crafts class.
