I dont want to be mean, but is there any D2 thread already to talk about pvp stuff and nostalgia ? I don't want to be mean but if you were looking for a d3 update wouldnt you go to a site OTHER than a starcraft related site?
seriously though, I saw this thread pop up and decided to have my input.

I expected that someone will complain about the D2 talk in here sooner or later sorry from my side. i knew that this wasn't the best thread to bring my "issue" up, but i was too lazy to register on a D2 fan site. wont happen again

Get 3 chars on lvl 98. Thats an achivement. I understand bashing softcorers is cool but lvl 90 char isn't an achivment

People going "just use runeword x and y and boss z is piss easy what u guys on about?!" Well in Classic D2 there were no runewords. There were no NM/Hell uniques. The best items were rares and extremelly hard to get a good one so people had pretty bad gear in comparision to most had in LoD.
This made fights like Andariel and Duriel on a non pimped char extremely hard due to a number of reasons. Hell andariel with like -50% poison resist, not so easy. And the same with Duriel since he pretty much oneshots Sorc/Necro/amazons and three shots the rest.
People who only played LoD dont know how easy they have it:D Diablo sanctuary runs and running into a multilightning oblivion knight, oh god the horror on HC.
My best memory is from LoD however playing HC as a trapassassin and just before Baals throneroom there are these stygian dolls that explode upon death for massive dmg. I managed to pull like 10 of these accidentaly and panicked TP:d to town. Only to have five people instantly taking my TP thinking it was the safe TP down to the throneroom. All 5 pretty much instantly died lol.

Who said anything about Runewords? I actually played D2 classic more than I played LoD because I liked it better... check my other posts in this topic. D2 Classic still wasn't that hard.

The game was only really hard on the very first play through. When you didn't know the cookie cutter builds and when you didn't know what items you should be using. Going through hell for the very first time was quite difficult and challenging. Now with all my knowledge of the game, it's quite simple and a joke really. I imagine the only true challenge that remains would be to start a hardcore character with absolutely no gear from outside help. Even doing ubers with non-pallys like fury barbs are quite easy now.
Anywho, I have a feeling that D3 will be easier than D2 overall, but hopefully I'm wrong. I'm sure I will enjoy it either way though.

OT I spoke of RW, to make it easier (faster rather). But FHR, +block/faster block, half freeze duration, thawing pots, etc...were all available in classic and make it a cakewalk.
Amazon has decoy, necro has mud golem so the only char with a semblance of risk is a sorc.
Back on topic, Definitly going to roll a wizard, not much appeal for sluggish characters like the barb. Dont like how monk looks altough he does seems rather strong, witch doctor and demon hunter are decent but they'll have to wait. Wouldve prefered demon hunter to wield a single ranged weapon!

Bought classic since i couldnt find my old CD's of it, found my LoD however so gonna casually level a hardcore char i guess, do u still have to complete it on normal to be able to go HC?:/
I havent played for years so any idea of character? I read CE necro is good but also trapassasin. When i last played trap assa did like 0 dmg since CE of it didnt scale at all on NM and hell. Paladin is out of the picture as i had like 10+ paladins of all sorts of specs over the years.
Anyone on EU wanna go for some fresh HC chars?
And on topic: The monk seems sorta like a smiteadin, in the sense that it looks great for soloing bosses but not so great for killing loads of mobs. The demon Hunter appeals to me alot, looks alot of fun but a bit too weak it seems in the DPS department. But then again Blizzard might not display its full power, same with the monk.

Hmm, heres my take on the classes.
Monk: Very flashy, but seems like he just won't be fun to play. A good word would be overrated. Barbarian: Seems like an upgraded version of the d2 character, obviously. Not much to say, barbs were great. Demon Hunter: At first I thought this guy looked awesome, but then I got this sinking feeling in my stomach that it was a remake of WoW hunter that will attract all of the 13 year olds that name their blood elfs legolas. Witch Doctor: I'm not solid yet. Necromancers were my favorite characters, but the Witch Doctor doesn't look extremely impressive. His spells don't really do much for me. Wizard: Looking to be the best character, just seems solid overall.
