I've had this before, at that time the servers shut down shortly after. All my things returned though, I wouldn't be too worried.
Are servers down right now? I haven't seen any messages for it.

Nope. They literally just nerfed this. Which fucking sucks, I was just trying to run through with my wizard and get him to 60. Now I guess I have to do it legitimately.
Az quest went from like 44K exp to 9K on Nightmare...

I'm not sure if its worth grinding it just feels slow in comparison now T.T but for now seems like the best option? I don't really know though I don't know any of the good farming areas for d3 exp wise or item wise yet
But this morning I grabbed a -14 reduced level 500DPS 2-handed sword for 80k buyout.
For leveling these can't be beat. And I'm sort of expecting them to nerf the "Reduced Level Requirement" affix sometime soon.
Inferno Act 4 weapons with -18 Reduced Level Requirements will be cheap very shortly (I mean blues). The "grind" will be to get to 42 then you will be in god-mode until you hit 60.
I've been running The Doom in Wortham Act 1 quest for 20k XP in Hardcore Nightmare, and at level 41 I can confirm its still giving full XP. Takes about 3 minutes to run.
Act II quest with Lieutenant Varden gives 50,000k (he probably talking about hell) plus all the monster exp. Takes about 2-3 minutes to complete once you have it down.
nm act2 boss is 94k (random post from d2jsp.) No idea how long it takes for each runs tough.
1. Kill Belial 2. Don't touch stone. 3. Leave game. 4. Resume game. 5. Touch stone (small exp). 6. Warp to town. 7. Talk to Tyrael (big exp). 8. Leave game. 9. Rejoin original game. 10. Warp to game leader. 11. Game leader leaves and makes new game. 12. Leecher turns in both quests. 13. Leecher leaves game and joins game leader in new game. 14. Turn in both quests.
On a level 42 Demon Hunter in Nightmare I just got over 120k exp doing it.

Every time they fix something people just start using the next best thing. If blizzard thought we were actually going to play the game through three times instead of just farming the best experience spot they haven't been paying much attention to their games for the past fifteen years.

Normally getting there puts you at 57-59 anyway, might as well just finish act 4 and be 60.
This is to get to 60 before hitting hell, dump uber items onto your alt, then plow through it to get to inferno faster.
There is very little point in playing through the game though. Once for the story is great and all, but Nightmare is just the exact same game along with Hell. It's far more time efficient to just grind exp at the optimal location.

Guess you never played Diablo 2. The only people who didn't abuse were the first characters on the ladder reset.

That was why the game of Diablo2 kind of sucked, too - the game wasn't worth playing through on its own merit.
