Half the people I know have found a legendary within the first 48 hours of the game including myself (and most of us probably have 20 hours min in that time period at least). These are all low level though, I'm not sure how rare the end game legendary and set items are. The thing is, legendary items don't seem to be significantly better than rare items and depending on the mods, often times worse.

Demon hunter, I think half-way thru Act 3 Normal. Been a total breeze. I gotta say, I'm really liking the versatility of her primary attacks -- the trade-offs between dps, aoe and ease of use, and how they synergize differently with her secondary attacks make it very interesting. Different builds for fast evasive enemies, mortar enemies, and max dps.
Question for you guys -- what do you think of dual-wield on DH? I read on the wikipedia that the basic increase is +5% attack speed, but I've got some additional magic find + stat buffs on my quiver that more than make up for it. Plus it's pretty hard to find two 1-handeds that give the same dps. Been happy with my 2-handed so far, easily one-shot normal enemies with piercing throwing knife :D

The ones on the first row (minus circle of life). I was using the Fetish thing for awhile because they make pretty good meatshields, but I switched to a two handed mace which killed my cast speed so it didn't seem worth it.
I intend to take the level 50 passive when I unlock it.

How do you have the mana for this build? It costs way too much for not as much damage. I use spirit barrage, but it, too, costs a lot (I do like 6,000 dmg to the spiders).

Because most of my time is spent running away while Haunt kills things. I only AoE down swarms like when there's 10+ mobs. It's true that you can't spam acid cloud, but if you can stand there and AoE you have mystical powers ^_^ Spirit barrage always seemed like a waste of mana to me.

I've been dual-wielding Xbows for the better part of normal (act 1 was a yellow bow+quiver, act 2+3 2x 1h Xbows). A 2h Crossbow has the most stable dps, while firing at a pretty slow rate (like 15-16 dmg at 1.40 attack speed). Bows are something in the middle of 1HXbow and 2 1HXbows. Better rate of fire but unstable dps (somthing along the lines of 3-29 at 1.10 attack speed) 1 handed crossbows are a whimsical DPS build. If you got good items, you WRECK FACE. If they're slightly under-levelled you begin to feel the difference almost immediately. I finally found a 'decent' 1h Xbow from a random mob and auctioned another off of the AC for 4K gold. Pretty much a cake walk atm.
My build is: Bola (with explosion rune) for left click Rapid Fire with (5hatred cost rune xd) right click Caltrops = 1 (with additional slowling rune) Exploding Trap = 2 (1st rune olny one I got) Vault = 3 (with knockback where I land) Marked for Death = 4 (with contamination)
passives are +25 hatred and +15% dmg to slowed enemies.
Been ripping everything to shreads with slow and tactical play. It's glorious. I've been considering chaning Exploding trap for Elemantal Arrow or Shadowform but I'm concerned about 1) EA's uses and 2) having too many discipline abilities on my toolbar.

Well see if I have to stop, I have been absolutely crushing with my WD, right now I just killed NM SK
I fucked around a lot until I figured out my build, which is currently FAR better than anything else i've tried. When powered up I do well over 700DPS, which is ridiculous at this level.
Passive: Spiritual attunement: Mana regen blood ritual: lower mana costs Gruesome feast: this is key, gives you int/mana bonus on orb pickup
Important Skills: Grasp of the Dead (Death is life): Its the one that makes orbs spawn, it seems to be alot more than 5% Soul Harvest (Siphon): The health regain, it gives you a panic button that full heals and it allows you to safely harvest.
Basically you lay down the grasp of the dead, walk in and harvest then unload on them with Acid Rain/Dire Bats, they drop asston of orbs which you then pick up and they percentage boost your already obscene INT. I go from about 325 dps to 750. Its verrry strong. The health harvest is by far the best, although I might try the extended duration when I unlock it.

Few posts up. I'm not in hell yet though so maybe I'll run into problems there.

No luck, this hardly tickles their 70,000 HP spiders
|
You might just be failing the gearcheck. The difficulty jump from Nightmare to Hell seemed sizable from the numbers I saw.
That or maybe you just shouldn't solo hell. The game is considerably easier when you have a monk tanking and you can just AoE down everything.
|
Just wondering, but what skills are people running w/ their monks, and their runes? And in their opinion what's hte best autoattack modifier (spirit building attacks)? I've been running the first one w thunderclap (increased dodge while attacking). That along w/ evasion mantra, is a huge dodge percentage. (note: im only lvl 27).

"If they're slightly under-levelled you begin to feel the difference almost immediately" What do you mean? I'm using a 2H socketed longbow, with a ruby it does 45dps (in total, ~330 damage with all my dex and atk speed bonuses). How does that compare with dual-wielding? I'd be really interested to see if I can optimize my DH further ... >:D
Yeah bola is pretty badass, and rapid fire dps is pretty awesome, but tbh I just got impale with the overpenetration rune and it blows everything else out the water. 4 regular monsters pop up, one shot them. A group of 14+? Multi-shot to slow, then 3 knives in different directions kills them all. Game just got so easy it's ridiculous.

I have to say i'm pretty dissappointed with the game so far.
Playing act 3 hell right now, this game does't just look like wow, it doesn't just have sounds recycled from wow... it also PLAYS like wow, you need wizards to do dps, wd/dh for some CC, and barb/monk to tank the mobs, the bosses take FOREVER to kill and drop crap every single time.
This is nothing like the diablo i knew.
And i'm not even going to comment on the stupid boss mechanic, straight up from... you guessed it, WoW.
