Since I don't bot or Google Map. I'm assuming it's because I was using Razer Macros (I had a key to automatically Spam "1" for me)
Watch out everyone, no more macros! NumLocking seems fine, I haven't heard any bans on that, yet. It's the same in all blizzard games I think. Not allowed to map one key to many keys.

Yeah, I read it (a bit too late though )
Have been using different macros since CM/Wizard back in Vanilla.

I find it funny that they would ban macros in a PvE game. Some of the builds out there for wiz will definitely give you RSI if you played manually for an extended amount of time.

Blizzard probably don't want to deal with complaining users(that they were using macros, not bots) after ban waves by keeping the threshold low.

I personally see nothing wrong with implementing an auto-cast option for all skills that do not require targeting. This should really just be a part of the game.

I blame explosive blast. A lot (maybe all) of the RSI wizard builds seem to include it.

i was planning on playing wiz next season. i dont like button mashing playstyles. is that what is required for the fire/archon build?
|
I will try Thornsader next season, might try a barbarian build if it is less boring than earthquake as well. My friend is playing the button mash wizard build and he was using a macro without knowing he could get banned. Doesn't look like it is fun.
Started playing again last friday. 10-12 hours was enough to solo gr60 with my Helltooth WD even though i used my seasonal free legendaries on my monk earlier in the season.
Having multiple good ways to find the right items is really good though. With Kanai's cube and blood shard gambling i was able to find every item i wanted really fast.

So I'm not sure I can be bothered to grind that and then plot out finishing The Thrill in one week.
Especially since next week = Summoners War anniversary event (filthy casual game).
Oh well, like daphreak I don't really revisit my characters after the season, so she can just be a mule for her offset(s) and I'll salvage everything else. She can be her own stash tab!
OCD is starting to motivate me to finish the last chapter for the stash tab now.
First milestone, it turns out The Thrill was a lot easier than I thought... I still haven't done the gold conquest yet though (that's supposed to be easy right?)
So easy I managed to finish while forgetting to finish changing gems or cube items =x (I was last running Jade farming set). Too bad double Nemesis doesn't stack lol.

Macro don't feel as useful nowadays (good bye CM/Wiz). I was using my macro because I was lazy and because I didn't want to spam my EBlast. If I would have known that Blizzard would take action, I wouldn't have used it. i do not regret using them during CM/Wiz era. That playstyle was unhealthy for the hands. I wish Blizzard would move Diablo 3 away from the spamming meta to a more meaningful one. What I mean is that I want each spells to matter : long cooldowns, heavy ressources required, but tons of damage.
I'm sad that Blizzard didn't take a more forgiving approach concerning Macros. I don't like to be associated with the other users that got perma-banned (Bots users). If they do not take action against Thud users, I really don't know what to think

If they do not take action against Thud users, I really don't know what to think Dunno, look at archon. The spell is either spammable or shitty and it's pretty impossible to be anywhere between. Long cds just don't work in a game like d3 where you are constantly fighting, esp not on wiz who has 3 damage amplification spells and an amplification set that needs skills.
The closest thing to what you describe that I've played is a clustershot dh, where you have 3-4 big shots and have to actually wait in between for regen. But dh in difference to wiz has signature spell options that aren't terrible, so clustershot is just your option for "I need more burst", while you spam your normal skill for most other purposes and shoot single clusters whenever your mana caps.
I think spamming one or two skills is fine, facerolling the keyboard is somewhat stupid. In that regard flashfire is already a lot better than cm.
Then again idk why they patched cm out and introduced in-geom in the first place. It's bound to produce the same build again.

Spells like EBlast are definitely the problem. Most builds have 1-2 skills that you spam that can be spammed by holding the corresponding mouse button. The rest are long lasting buffs, burst skills on long cds, oh shit buttons and mobility skills (I map mobility on the mouse scroll button). Pressing the keyboard every few seconds isn't a problem.
The wizard's problem is having additional low cd spells that you have to bind on the keyboard. Now you're spamming 3-4 buttons instead of 1-2 and some of them are on the keyboard.

So you can rebind mouse buttons to keyboard buttons, but you can't program a single button press to translate into more than a single action in game. Or that is how it works in StarCraft at least.

Ill go witch doctor next season

I don't think Eblast or spells with a similar cd are the problem, I think it's static cd reduction. EB is a shitty spell without cm or in-geom. And nobody in their right mind would get 90%cd reduction, it just doesn't pay off.
I don't even disagree with the design idea behind EB or similar spells. Imo the sorc is way cooler with a lot of nice looking elemental spells that she can spam on a 10-20 sec cd (although EB itself is pretty boring). That's why I rly like the idea behind the tal-rasha meteor set, imo a sorc is supposed to just turn the screen into a big firework.
