In the event where you're already targetted by kassadin's Q, you need to just suck it up and ball close and put a mark on him with auto then W.
The 10 extra MR you get in ball form softens the impact.
Like most kennens I use 21 defense so I'm a little more lenient with myself getting hit by minions, unless there's too many

9/0/21 Kennen is the way to go, but it's largely irrelevant. Even with defensive masteries, I garauntee you're making a bad trade with good Kassadin players in this situation because of his passive, Strength of Spirit, creep agro, and on top of all that, the fact that Q hits harder than auto -> W anyway.

Anyways, mostly to Smash/Shake (you guys need to finish catfighting over Kennen and relegate someone to Teh Junglez, or the dual lane lol), but I figure it might be an interesting thought for other people trying to set up teams.
I typed in Skype this morning:
what we can/prolly should do to be assertive from now are stuff like opening by taking their liz (and giving it to solo mid) dragoning asap and always going for their buffs (to abuse map-wides)
I think we're just playing too passive, playing reactively (which we can do... but we need to do a better job warding if we do, so that we react with ample time, instead "oh shit I'm dying" *fail teleport help* stuff). Especially if we're abusing the top-bottom teleport, we need to force the fights to happen, force them to make positioning mistakes and take advantage of our numeric advantage. Instead of waiting for a moment to use teleport, abuse it, create situations to use the teleport or at least threaten them with it. It's amazing how we lose map control with 2 teleports hahah.
On a similar note (something someone mentioned a while ago) we need people stepping up and coordinating these things. Like if we (as Turkey I are probably going to do) take Taric/Shen bot with a teleport on Taric, we need to set up stuff like jungling going to gank top so Shen pre-ults the jungler for a triple gank, as opposed to a sadsack rescue ult. If we're going to delegate one person to do it then that person needs to be on the sort of sit-back-and-watch hero (Shen?) or he's gotta be as good as L0cust at watching the map and still last-hitting, hahah, and that'd probably take focused effort and practice.
Edit: I'm not very high on Kennen, but I'm willing to swing with it but we've gotta get some of these combos working better, and that's just going to come with hero familiarity, which we really are lacking at the moment, I know this, we all know this, and it's a bit tough to swallow after romping by just creaming our lanes early-game all the time lol. Freaking solo queue bad habits.

Yeah, Utility tree is broken. 9/0/21 for Kennen as long as flash is a summoner spell.
Actually I run 21 utility on everyone I play except for Shen.

My feeling is that everyone needs to feel confident in at least 2 characters for their respective role. Our top needs to be able to play Kennen and Annie (and now that I think of it, Anivia would be fine here too) to assure that we get both the AP burst and sustainable CC we need from that slot. And they need to be able to play both with Flash + Teleport. With how we're trying to shift our teamplay, that's just how it's gotta be. If Shake really wants it, that's fine, I have been devoting my solo queue time to Jungling and playing that exact role (annie/kennen top), so theoretically I work in both slots. Frankly I'd rather play the caster because I feel I have developed some bad habits with regards to jungling vs. teams that suck at counter jungling, but w/e, we all have kinks we gotta work out right now, so either way there are going to be some growing pains.
And if no one else wants to step up to the plate about coordinating us and barking out orders, I'll do it. Again, this style of communication is a difference from what we've usually done in the past, so I expect that regardless of who we put in this role, there are going to be growing pains associated with ditching the decision making by commitee we're used to, but ultimately I think it will work out in our favor to have snappy calls (assuming our leader has sufficient map awareness and decision making).

I usually do it but I'm not consistent from start of game to end, and I tend to be slow in reacting because my mind moves like a sloth.
I can jungle, I can caster, I don't even really care I have like 10 heroes I'm competent with. I'm just (as mentioned last night) sitting in lane with Turkey because I feel like we're the only two that find it amusing, hahah.
Edit: Well, I don't do it when my mic cuts out and no one hears me say "back" :[

honestly, I just think I suck at duo laning, I get the impression Shake does too (correct me if I'm wrong, lol) and Red is best on carries who we need to have in solo lanes. It's more of just a process of elimination imo imo imo.

BR + Tanking spam is where you wanna be though, the order is just tricky and game dependent. I like Omen and Veil on him as top tanking priorities.

But that's the thing, I'm not saying, go in and trade hits with kassadin and win. It's just that sometimes it's inevitable if you are intent on getting certain creeps, and in this case, letting kassadin Q you for free is worse than fighting him out.

I didn't do the math, but LW should now apply to Xin's ult, so I would be really tempted to go for that. Costs only half as much as BR too. The question is what to build once you got LW + tank items and are looking for additional damage... But Sunfires are always a good solution!

Salce runs ep5plvl yellows on Kennen, I run yellows and quints. They really make a difference on him. Shen and Akali, not so much but I use them because I have them. I wouldn't waste the IP unless you're a dedicated Kennen player (Salce) or just stupid (me). 820 / 2050 per rune that're only useable on 3 champs is insane.

Top two "nerf pls" for me are mp5 runes and SoS. Nerfing mp5s isn't that big of a deal, but they should at least make other runes competitive somehow. SoS...
