When I play on higher levels I always get forced mostly into Science Victory, because someone would otherwise win via Culture or so (damn you Ghandi!) :o Wait what. I have never gotten beaten because some AI won by by culture before. It's literally impossible to lose that way. It possible for the AI to achieve a cultural victory. It happened against me in the past in G&K. It's practically impossible for an AI to achieve cultural victory, because: 1. If they expand, they don't make enough culture to win quickly enough; they might still win, but not via culture. 2. If they don't expand, they will get crushed by bigger neighbours. Also, because you can track every player's cultural progress, it's easy to see who is going culture. So if you see that Pacal or Monty with 4 policies completed, just bribe another AI to kill him.
Ghandi had like ~5 cities and and was leading the CPUs in Pts no problem.

Supposed to be this summer.
I'm really looking forward to it as well. Religion and spying aren't my biggest interests in the series and those are pretty much G&K's primary additions, along with some minor balance changes and additions. Reworking culture victories, the most boring victory condition in Civ 5, sounds really promising. The changes in trade routes and the expansion in the competition for soft power has me excited. With the reworking of culture victory, they might even change social policies to have more cities be less of a disadvantage. Building and conquering cities and generally expanding is the fun of the series.

Wow, cool update by the look of things. Hopefully my interest in HOTS and Simcity wanes before this comes out

Poland, thats cool! Now we only need vodka as new luxury and I'm ready to conquer the world!

I really like that they are going to make the money/economics game more dynamic. It's definitely something that has been underdeveloped in Civ games up until now.

The economy system is actually fine in Civ 5, except river tiles are too broken.

Getting mixed vibes from this.
On the one hand I love civ 5 and its the best civ in my opinion. On the other hand they are
a) not advertising AI fixes, which indicates its not going to get as much attention as it deserves. b) adding more bloat to the game, which will invariably make the AI even more rubbish than it currently is. c) not advertising proper multiplayer support (an option for proper turn-based games, PBEM, mods).

I'm gonna be pissed if they just add four other luxury commodities and not allow Cows, Fish, Deer, Rice, Bananas etc. to the trade table.

I think those are just there so that if you start in terrain full of hills/water/tundra/swamps/jungle you still have an option of getting some decent food tiles. Except for wheat which seems a bit pointless.

But they were subject to tarde in IV, that and they helped offer economic incentives which V desperately needs.

They need to fix sucky water tiles, too. Coastal cities are pretty weak unless they come with at least 3 fish/crab/pearl/whale tiles.
edit: Didn't they already use this 30 Seconds to Mars song for Dragon Age? It played in my head when I heard the title.

Does Germany or Russia get a bonus against Poland?

They were subject to trade in Civ IV because that game had a health cap and a happy cap. I'm not really hot on the idea of bringing a health cap back. Also, I don't think that adding additional tradeable resources is what Civ V needs anyway. There needs to be a new way to generate income, which this trade center mechanic probably will do.

If Russia and Germany are friends they gain +15% against Poland. Also when anyone conquers polish city there is one "rebel" infantry unit spawned per 5 citizens of the city. These units are infantry units from the era polish empire is in and spwans in nearest vicinity of the city. Polish player controls them. Also revolution lasts 2 turns longer than usual.
