Hmm, might have something to do with me buying it from GreenManGaming as I believe they're based in America?

The religion was what I focused on early game, since it's the new thing and I wanted to try it. Currently Tehlu (props if you get the reference) is spreading across the land and in effect granting me a free swordsman every 3 turns (and this is with the sub-optimal beliefs I chose), which really surprised my neighbors to the south. Once I take their last two cities I'll have Caesar backed into a corner, which will be nice since he's apparently been plotting against me (something I heard from Japan recently). The changes so far aren't groundbreaking, but I think they add (or reintroduce) some nice extras to Civ V. I'm not going to compare it to other Civ games as it's a different experience, but I still found myself in the dangerous One More Turn trap last night. I'd recommend it if you enjoyed Civ V already. It mixes things up a bit which was enough for me to pick it back up. If you didn't like Civ V I doubt this will change your mind.

the city state idea is soooo good, also with non stacking units game is much better. Why does it have to be so shallow on features..

I only put in about 5 hours, but I don't think it's worthy of the title expansion, more like big DLC.

"Let's announce to the world we're best friends!" then 100 turns later (marathon speed mind you, at like turn 150) "WAR TIME, bend over!" still exists. I only put in about 5 hours, but I don't think it's worthy of the title expansion, more like big DLC. Then what is an expansion for you ? . For me is Big DLC , like you write. New Civilizations .. new units , new game option , religions..imagine that you get all this seperate for 5-10 $ each .. like in DLC..they just combine this , and make an expansion. Its simple or me ![]()

Also, when the AI comes at you with an army now, they really come at you with an army. In my first G&K immortal game, I got trampled by Caesar on about turn 50 when he attacked me with 2 ballistae, 4 archers, 2 warriors, and 2 spearmen. I had about 4 archers and a couple warriors, which in the past was sufficient defense at that point in the game. However, Caesar simply ran my ass over. I think part of the problem is that killing off units is slower in G&K with the new hp/damage system. It was often taking 4 volleys to kill stuff off with archers rather than the usual 2-3. The other problem is that catapults/ballistae don't require iron any more, which makes it really easy to take cities early.

Ity's not broken but it needs a LOT more features. I am on Prince and I can't steal any techs as I am so far ahead, and if the AI manages to steal a tech it's not a setback. "Persia stole the secrets of Engineering" meanwhile I just finsihed researching Chemistry. So I am stuck with moving a spy back into my city(Capital) to prevent other spies, or just rigging elections(note a coup succeeding are inversely proportional to the difference between your influence and the ally's influence with that state). That is it and of course letting other civs know that someone else is plotting againt them, which just gets boring and the game I've played nothing has actually happened. For example, France was plotting against Russia yet no war actually came about. It's a very shallow feature. You think a sneak attack being known would cause automatic war to strike back as a surprise or at least a denounciation, but nothing happens. In the end if you want to get in good with certain AI's spy on their enemies/compeitors. Firaxis did have time to tie in Spy names with the Civ you are playing. French spies have french names etc. The AI seems to be hell bent on no longer spamming cities which is a good thing but can tend to get annoying. Policies and Great Persons: Firaxis fixed this. Going straight to Liberty gets you an extra worker but in the end you can no longer rush to Medieval before a 150 turns like in Vanilla when you chose a great person of your choice and usually insta research Compass. This time around a Great Scientist can research but may not actually finish the tech. I fell into the trap that you could actually choose a tech but found out the hard way that certain actions and the resulting great scientist will rush your CURRENT tech.

Overall a solid expansion with no major changes, but really smart enhancements to the game.

I'm playing on immortal with a coastal start where most of my good tiles in my capital are sea tiles (these are notoriously slow starts), and I'm leading in tech at around turn 100 after doing a 2 city + national college build. More impressively, I was never really far behind at any point (I think may 2-3% at most in the literacy rankings). I haven't played on immortal for a while, but I don't recall ever taking the tech lead on immortal this early. Also, when the AI comes at you with an army now, they really come at you with an army. Im playing emperor now , and im doing really good ( never beat that difficulty lv in orginal civ 5) , now i have really good chance , already kill one oppenent in one front , from other side i def good vs mongols. Regilion IS INSANE , I really like it , missionary use.. spy use oh is so good. I already steal like 5 tech in around 170 turn. Every close oppoents cities are under my religions ( this cities near my boreder). Gatling gun FTW I really like this sound and power :D @{CC}StealthBlue I think that you must send spy to city , under your religion influence , like I wirte up i was sending spy to city near my border , and that city was having some followers of my religion.

Combat AI is smarter. They focus fire siege vehicles when defending a city. They don't suicide units and are capable of playing conservatively, so you might end up in some cool situations like infantry fortifying at their respective borders while artillery rounds fly over the borders. They can also pull off some aggressive plays, especially on Immortal. Spies are cool enough. While the number of actions they can perform is limited, they can uncover some really useful information (such as if they're planning a sneak attack and against who). Any friendly civs will also tell you if anyone is scheming against you. Haven't tried religion yet. My next playthrough will be of The Celts. I've always been a hyper late-game guy when it comes to strategy games, so it's gonna be kinda hard for me to do this religion thing right. :X

Basically if you like civ 5 but got a bit bored etc then its definitely worth the price. If you dont like civ 5 then it wont be changing the game enough to change that opinion and you should keep your pocket money. I would comment further but the past 2 pages and the reviews basically sum up my opinion equally (or better) so no need. Personally I liked civ5 but got bored with it, I dont regret purchasing this at all.
