I don't think I could get into another series at this point in time. I thought Total Wars was RTS
Total War combines elements of both. You've got your empire building in a campaign, but the actual battles are fought in RTS mode (very awesomely I might add). Total War seems to be more casual though, and not a timedrain like the Civ series (I like both series, BTW). Because the battles are RTS, you end up stopping play every few turns out of sheer mental fatigue of it all (instead of Civ, where "one more turn..." never seems end your play).

This game is great except for the fact that its online mode is the worst piece of shit ever.
Even with one friend and the rest are AI, the game hitches, stops responding, hitches each time a turn finishes or simply fucks up if someone disconnects and doesn't account for it.
The game would not be frustrating to play or long if each turn wasn't 6 to 10 seconds of waiting between them D:<

I like the old way much better. Play for 20-50 turns on a super long game then upload the file and someone else has a go then you have a go again. Good times.

!!!!!! Theres a save option in multiplayer now! Holy crap I swear this wasnt in the game 2 weeks ago!
Working on beating deity. Pretty much if you settle a new city within 5 spaces of another civ's city (fog of war T__T) You may as well reset the game cos theres no way to win a war against the ai until nukes and bombers are on your side.

Find where you second city will be and be sure no other city are near.

Where can I find mods for this game? Any of them worth it?
|
CivFanatics or the built-in mod manager. Only problem is that the modding community isn't as big as the Civ3 and Civ4 ones, so there isn't as many good mods to choose from
|
The fact that there is no expansion and constant DLC with no new features and/or updated features makes this game very boring very fast.

I would have to agree. I ended up buying the Korea DLC to see if it would add to the experience but was disappointed and ended up uninstalling again. I think Paradox has made the best games in this genre so far.

I see the stacking mod, wondering if it was worth it. Never played Civ IV, so I dunno if stacking is overpowered or a great change/mod
|
Ugh, stacking ruined IV for me. You need multiple stacks just to take down one city, while in V, it's less time consuming to start a decent war. The strategic view completely won me over, as well. Makes it feel like a board game.

Not that it was really good in other Civs, but stacks of doom are still stacks of doom. It is incredibly easy to hold off hordes of AI with relatively few defences in Civ V. I like Civ V but it doesn't have the long lasting appeal of Civ IV or even Civ III.

You know all this silence from Firaxis better mean a huge update with new features, changes etc. Or an xpac announcement.
Also I really wish they would offer Leader(s) DLC's. A couple new leaders to choose from in one, or just one for 99 cents or something.

I want to confirm to you that our plans for Civilization V are far from done. Another patch is currently in the works (QA is doing a pass on it now and I'll have more details soon) and there are some much bigger plans we hope to announce in the coming months.
Let the hype begin all over again.

It better be AC2 because Civ5 is a failure in my eyes and I think that the only thing that could save it would be complete overhaul of the game.

So 2K Greg revealed that Pitboss and the DLL code are being worked on for release, for free. Still months away from release though.

Got 120 hours on this game. It's so damn addicting.
|
So they're still working on this game?
Amen!

I really hate how this game has been dumbed down it's too bad Sid Meier or even Soren Johnson can't or won't come back to work for Firaxis and put Civilization V on the right path.

Online is so much better now, it plays like singleplayer! SMOOTH FAST AND ENJOYABLE!
