Firaxis still hasn't solved it's Religion problem. Three branches of Christianity hasn't solved anything Ethiopia, Iriqouis now just can pick two out of three. So either they have to get Religions to overlap or separate it into differing branches of Buddhism, and Islam. Or both.

The whole purpose pf splitting Christianity was to remove the AI from always picking it right? Except now you just have three usual AI's picking three different forms. No randomization.

Oh I see what you mean, yes I guess that would be good.

Other things that I'd like to see. The factoria moved down to the same tech level as the nau because that makes historically more sense and also is more helpful since grabbing the nau + factoria + a possible observatory makes it a worthwhile investment.
Also, a new UA for the Japanese, both Samurai and Bushido essentially refer to the same period in Japan's history and I'd rather have something like Meiji restoration that would give the equivalent of a resident scholar bonus for catching up in tech (paralleling Japan's westernization in both the 19th and then post world war 2 period)

I'd also like to see the ai run some kind of logic check before it picks 'piety' as an opener. If there are no faith granting wonders nearby and the ai didnt pick one of the faith granting pantheons then it shouldnt just automatically click into piety. I've seen way too many ais waste their first policy tree on pantheons.

As far as I can tell the problem was that there just was too many Civ that are Christians and since the civ have a preference for one religion and if not available will chose something random what was happening was that too many christian civ ended up with a random symbol because it was already taken by another christian. So they added the other branches to diminish this overlap.

It works alright right now. The risk of overlap is lower for the other religions so no need to split. (Of course the overlap still happen but its less frequent).

The Christian religions will generally go first because they're the most popular preferences (each civ has one religion it wants, if it's already taken it chooses at random).

Catholicism: Austria, Aztec, Brazil, Celts, Denmark, France, Inca, Maya, Poland, Polynesia, Portugal, Rome, Spain, Venice
Protestantism: America, England, Iroquois, Germany, Netherlands, Shoshone, Sweden, Zulu
Eastern Orthodox: Byzantium, Ethiopia, Greece, Russia

If you also consider that this includes Celts, Maya, Ethiopia and Byzantium (who either have early faith generation or really want a religion), it's no surprise that these go first.

Is it just me, or has it gotten easier to download bigger mods since the latest patch? Before the patch, I had problems downloading big mods but today, I could download a big one without any problem.

They can, but they will usually raze it, just like barbarians. In earlier versions city states could actually expand like that, which I think is much cooler than how it works right now.

I've seen it happen several times. 90% of the time they burn it down but sometimes they keep it.

Personally I've found that City States will burn down any city they capture and then retreat their units back to their home city except when they capture another City State in which case they Puppet it.

So I just won a half assed game on immortal as the dutchs, half deciding to go culture mid game, not having a religion, barely making 500tourism at internet, not completing the game with musicians, almost reaching Science victory before winning as culture finally. Maybe its time to get on deity if I can play so sloppy on Immortal.

Sure, definitely give Deity a shot, but don't underestimate Civ 5's potential for crazy RNG. Sometimes things just fall into place.

a fun game finished yesterday, was playing Arabia on earth Huge to try some openers and fiddle around with my secondary cities (on emperor)

Pretty decent starting location in Africa, room for 2 really heavy production cities and 2 decent coastal cities.
got lucky with faith and was able to pick up + 1 from desert tiles, ok maybe ill give the Petra a go... got it on the city with 2 oases ... nice.
First time I took the preachers perk ( 30 % farther away ) instead of the printing press one, wasn't even really looking to convert the world but France, Russia and Indonesia were near(ish) and all were converted to the mighty Islam in no time, I did not send any prophets to any of their cities.
Seems a little powerful as a perk, my capital was pushing out 100+ pressure within around 150 turns I think.
decided to finish the game since this one was just too good to pass up.
Indonesia was my best friend during the whole game, he was the host for world congress and pushed through just about anything that was a benefit to me.
World religion, ideology etc.

Was a funny game all in all, had never had one were literally everything went right.

I dunno, I have a pretty hard time on Diety because while I can usually survive the initial turn 80 rush by some jerk civ (Mongols, Japan, or god forbid Zulu) but i have a hard time keeping up with a run away on the other side of the map. If you end up with Haiwathaa or some other brutally city-wonder-spamming civ I have no idea how to catch up. And the idea that you can 'just bribe their neighbor' doenst really work since 90% of the time that just lets them conquer their neighbor.

lol yeah, the game i'm currently playing, spawned right beside Attila, managed to bribe him into attacking the japanese instead of me, but less than 20 turns later all the japanese cities were gone, bribed it again to attack the chinese and 20 turns later all the chinese cities were gone ahah.

Thankfully i'm only playing on emperor right now so it bought me ample time to prepare and defend, conquer him and liberate the chinese/japanes capitals but still, I was pretty shocked at how fast he completely eliminated them.

You go trade, then at the bottom is 'other players', click on that and a menu appears with 'declare war on' and 'make peace with' and you can choose the targeted civ. A warmonger civ will be quit easily convinced to go to war. In my experience it would only work with direct neighbours and of course you have to have a good relationship with the civ.
I'm shy and reserved, even on the internet.
