"Besides the new game mechanics, features and policies there are obviously more civilizations waiting for you in Civ5:BNW. Nine, to be precise; four of which (including a proper "pro"-civ) we may sadly not yet name." The pro most likely refers to 'professional' so I wonder what they're alluding to here. What kind of civ would require a highly skilled player?

So when people dig stuff up it’s really cool. For example, if you send one of your archaeologists off to France, you’re going to find stuff that pertains to them. You might find a spearhead from a French spearman that died to a Moroccan warrior, so you actually see stuff that’s happened to other civilizations. Aside from new cultural options, Brave New World also introduces the World Congress. How does that fit into the game? The World Congress is founded when you’ve met every civilisation in the world and you’ve also researched the printing press. It’s very simple when it starts: whoever founded it gets to be the host and they get two delegates that can vote and everybody else gets a single delegate. Being the host means that you can put forth one of the two resolutions. The resolutions encompass a wide range of either selfish resolutions, or punishing resolutions, or there are resolutions for the benefit of humanity on world projects like the International Space Station, World’s Fair, things like that. But we start out fairly simply. After thirty turns you all vote on the resolutions that were proposed. In the next era after that the cycle continues again, more resolutions are passed and everybody gets a few more delegates to work with now, and then a few more the next era after that until everybody’s got a sizeable chunk of delegates to be able to spread their votes around. At that point you’re going to be assigning diplomats, which are another type of spy, so you can actually try to buy or sell votes. There’s a whole lot of meta gaming going on in terms of managing a lot of the vote process later in the game. We try to always creating these systems so they start with a very small footprint – they’re very easy to get into and do not get complex until players are ready for them to be complex. Source

The Dutch still get plodders and they still get that great early game trade bonus. The Portuguese are basically without any bonus at all if they dont have a port. I don't think they have it any worse than Polynesia. Like Polynesia I'm sure Portugal will have a coastal start bias.

I really like the improved diplomacy from the add on, it will be fun in multiplayer matches. It's good that you can vote on things like "20% increased research on technologies that have been discovered by other players" in order to let the left behind civs catch up.
