Was talking with my friend the other day about who will win the Most Improved Player award this year. Here's my list:
Aaron Brooks - We saw great things from him in last year's playoffs and he has definitely taken a leading role for the Rockets and upped his game and scoring. One of the highest scorers in the league that earns a ridiculously low salary.
Andrew Bogut - Everyone has been waiting for the Aussie to emerge as one of the premier centers in the league and in my opinion he has proven that this year. The damage he can do in the low post and on the boards amazing, and he is a key reason why the Bucks have surged to the 5th spot.
Danilo Gallinari: While he missed the majority of last season, it is clear he has improved leaps and bounds. Tonight's game against the Nuggets showed a great duel between Gallo and Melo as they battled it out in the 3rd quarter. This kid has serious skill and will be a key player for the Knicks in coming years.
Carl Landry: Filling Yao's shoes turned Landry into a beast. He played so well that Houston.... well they traded him,... oh well, their loss.
Zach Randolph: complete attitude adjustment and actually a veteran leader of this team chock full of young talent. I avoided all Grizzlies this year simply because there weren't enough touches to go around with all those black holes, but I was very wrong. Very surprising.
Marc Gasol: I knew he was a decent sleeper, but his combo of consistency and durability (except for the fantasy playoffs he played every game so far his career) are tops.
Josh Smith: finally stopped shooting 3 pointers and is listening to his coach. He has all the talent in the world and just needs to understand that shooting isn't one of them.
Jamal Crawford: I thought he and Bibby would cancel each other out in terms of fantasy value, but he has proven to be a valuable scorer.
Gallinari: I'm afraid he won't have the green light to shoot 13 3 point attempts in a game next year, but what the hell.
I'd also like to put Wilson Chandler and David Lee here, as both have been beastly but they are all a product of the knicks system.
CJ Miles has improved and hIs improvement has helped out the jazz tremendously ..2nd best record in the nba since january ... We re coming for that 2nd west spot ha :D our next 5 games look fairly ez wins!!! utah jazz hwaitin lol

The pros are that Manu's been going bananas over the last month or so. The con is that Richard Jefferson's been like Vince Carter pre-February, Roger Mason Jr has regressed into uselessness, and George Hill has been on the bad side of inconsistency. And for the last few games, the unthinkable has happened, the most consistent player of the 2000's has started to slip offensively.
Any team with a good defense can shut down the Spurs now, which is why they play well vs crappy teams. Healthy Manu's their only significant scoring threat, and healthy parker was merely above average.
It would have been worse if they were still playing Oberto/Finley/Udoka/Bowen, though I miss Bowen.
Duncan has looked god awful the past week or two ... I think he should rest for the final w/e games, he was playing SO GREAT in the first 3/4 of the season
