I dunno how to word this...
Edit:
Oh and on a promotion, you guys should play 7.5 Immaterial and Missing Power :D It's a very difficult fighting game with a lot of things to pay attention to
vid explains a lot more obviously
The commentator is really enthusiastic on par with the Korean Commentators I would say xD
I don't like the fighting games. I know they're like super technical and shit but every time I try them (both IaMP and SWR) I quit after like 15 minutes. Dunno, not my style I guess. Not a big fan of fighting games in general.
So how are you guys doing in DS ? I'm currently sitting at like 78/108, I only have the best (and most difficult lol) cards left. I really really like it so far, and again, I feel like it's easier than StB, but maybe it's just that I improved in the meantime, I remember when I first got StB, I struggled super hard to get past level 5/6, and on this one after the first day I already had unlocked everything except Spoiler (now I have it, and most of the cards are like pretty easy, but very interesting). And I really like the music too <3.

Eh not really long combo strings, there are pressure strings yes, but the long complex ones are on the harder characters, (Alice for example) Plus long combo strings are fun to do :D
Movement/controls I think are really easy in this game The way the characters move gives you so many options. If you compare it to something like Tekkan, where you can hardly move at all

But yeah its not that popular unfortunately :/
I did like playing it, but I am used to playing melee, where you hit one of two buttons and a direction for every move. I couldn't use moves like the spell card thing because I couldn't do the button inputs. (yes, I am that bad) I also had a hard time remembering what moves did what even after some time playing it. I guess I am just too used to playing melee. And I thought that combos after you pressure your opponent and knocking them down/up were very important.

well those aren't really combos as more like block strings. They are forced to block once they are knocked down, because obviously, they will get hit when they get up if they don't block against someone with decent timing. So you have these block strings that forces them to block and continue to block until ideally to the corner. Of course these strings will end, but you continue pressure with threat that if they don't block, they will get hit. Corner restricts their movement and escape routes. While doing this pressure strings, you have to watchout for DPs and bombs, which you have to predict and bait (by blocking or back dashing during pressure), then punish and continue.
Once they are in corner, basic strategy is to guard crush them. Guard Crush can be obtained by making them block wrong, or block too many bullets. Once they are guard crushed (no spirit) they can not use specials and bullets. And importantly, if they block wrong, attacks will either stagger, or induce clean hits. Once they hit clean, you can combo off of that and yeah that is important. Marisa is a good example on getting guard crush by making opponent block, and then going in and hitting either hi attack of low attack to get clean hit and combo
I find this game kind of like Melee (smash right?) In a way that give you a lot of freedom in movement
Most of the moves in IaMP are basically 3 buttons for attack and simple directions. No inputs are really that hard at max hardest would probably something like 623 or 421 which would be right, down, right down and left, down, left down respectively
I'd say technically, smash is way way more difficult. The physical skills required, the metagame, is ridiculous for melee. IaMP has a lot more simpler movement and attacks, but what makes it difficult is the mind games, which is present in every fighting game. If you don't know what you are doing you will get raped really badly by experienced players, just like melee. (I had this happen when I started lol what was it lost in 75 seconds?)

Personally found the fighting games fun, but I was never good with those types of games > <, to me it became just something for more music lol.
Traditionally full Touhou games are released at the Summer Comiket. I think StB was released at Winter Comiket, and DS was released at Reitaisai 7. I expect a demo to be released around mid-late May as usual. The early demo for UFO last year was a surprise though
A lot of people on the forums I read (DS.com and shrinemaiden) don't expect a new touhou for the Summer Comiket now that DS has been released at Reitaisai. I kinda tend to agree with that. I know ZUN is amazing but like .. Two games released the same year is a lot. Especially with no demo at Reitaisai, it looks to me like the next touhou is coming out in 2011.

I know for sure that the UFO demo came out last year during Reitaisai.
And I'm not so sure about that tyr. I'll wait until the end of May to declare that there's going to be no Touhou this year. I remember that I was surprised when I saw that Phantasmagoria came out in Summer Comiket 2005 then Shoot the Bullet came out in Winter Comiket of the same year
I have faith! ^_^
Oh, and I just restarted downloading a bunch of Touhou songs since I was busy with Animes I finally got around to listening to some of UI-70's stuff, and I can't believe how far they've fallen from their early stuff
the Demetori song is hard on osu is very hard but its very fun on hard/lunatic difficulty of course
lol lunatic I can't even clear hard I can get to like main "chorus" of the song, then once it gets back to the "verse" I fail do to awkward rhythm pattens and fast spread apart notes well chorus and verse without lyrics lol
Is that Demetori theme a remix of another theme? It sounds just like another touhou song I know (sanae's maybe?) And is it common to have the themes remixed and reused in later games?

?
Well it is remix of Sanae's theme, Faith is for Transient People in MoF
edit: oh I misread what you wrote lol ZUN usually doesn't remix themes and reuse them but he does occasionally like for the fighting games and some in Imperishable Nights
