Yeah my favorites definitely are touhou 6, 7 and 8, mostly because of the graphics probably, that I find were nicer then than they are now.
MoF was really weird and I though it would get even worse but SA and UFO were much better gameplay-wise, more like the previous ones.
I guess we'll have to wait til Touhou 13 to see what happens next. ^^
I wonder if it'll be a PoDD/PoFV style game.

I didn't really like UFO either, music and the characters didn't really seem to appealing
but most likely what threw me off the most was those curvy lasers.

lasers rape me in any Touhou game x(

Well the thin lasers that shoot out fast, I think it started in SA? I don't really count Marisa's spark to be laser in IN
I really didn't like that game either because of the lasers

And another thing I don't like about UFO is how hectic it can get.
Since there are so many power up and point items that drops, it can like cover the entire field.
Add the bullets and UFO's I think there are way too many things on the screen at the same time

On the other hand I actually like MoF

I thought that game was fun
come to think of it I didn't like Nitori's cucumber laser thing :x

Lasers....omfg they are my bane. After tons of practice against curvy lasers in double spoiler - shou has a ton of them, iku does too - getting a little bit better...

thin lasers that shoot out fast.... think Mystic Square lol! Alice and Yumeko
MS also had those kickass hard as fuck to dodge cheeto lasers that yuki, mai, and shinki use. but after getting good at dodging them, theyre soooooo fun!!

Try 4chan's /rs/ (rapidshares), they have all kinds of stuff. You can get english patches from the touhou wiki page.

I just recently got into touhou... I've only beaten IN on normal so far, and I had to use a continue :/ But i'm workin' on it. I've gotten better since I decided to bomb first and ask questions later. Too many times I say, "Nah, I can do this!" then waste my life along with 3 unused bombs...

I kinda want to play Hisoutensoku with people, but I don't want to be competitive and memorize frame data and all that bullshit, I just want to mash buttons and have fun :< I guess it's probably not the fighting game for me, then.

Been playing these for a little bit, but I could never figure out how to remap the controls. Are they set in stone?

in IaMP controls are in separate config files

Soku is kind of more difficult
you have to go to settings in game and check
Unless you know Japanese, just kind of guess and check

Why are there two reitaisai events this year ._.

I feel sorry for any doujin circle that tries to keep up a release cycle with this lol.

There are two Comikets every year, too, and several other Touhou-only events, forget their names though.

Errr as far as I can tell the primary Reitaisai event for this year is already over. The other event is not supposed to be Reitaisai 8.

The other relatively big Touhou event is 東方紅楼夢 (Touhou Kouroumu) held during October of each year. Reitaisai is still much bigger though. There are other smaller events too though, like TAMusic sometimes has a release event of their own outside of the normal schedule.

A lot of the larger groups actually end up having a pretty crazy like 3-month release schedule. Alice's Emotion and Alstroemeria Records end up releasing something like one at each Comiket, one at Reitaisai, and one at Touhou Kouroumu. That's basically March, August, October, December. Most normal groups don't do that though .

Edit: I just realized that ZUN hasn't released a demo yet for Touhou 13. It's a possibility that this special event is held to release something Shanghai Alice related at the very least. The only question will be whether ZUN will pull a 9 to 9.5 or a 9/9.5 to 10. (9 was released at Summer Comiket, 9.5 at Winter of the same year. On the other hand, Mountain of Faith was released two years later :X)

Well, even Touhouket isn't quite completely converted yet, having Reitaisai 7 + a Reitaisai SP is kind of scary...not sure why we just got smacked with a SP out of the blue though.

You li - ... *Goes to check music library* Ok maybe not.

Not exactly sure why I don't like their songs though. Perhaps they're just too hardcore or something.

I mean, why a second reitaisai thing so close to comiket, I don't think it's gonna end well lol. But yeah it's a special event so who knows. And regarding music: IOSYS/Cool&Create for more overhyped imo, although C&C actually puts out some good stuff every now and then.

I always end up loving at least one track on each AE album, and it's usually always a track by Betwixt & Between. REDALiCE puts out better tracks in his non-Touhou HARDCORE TANO*C circle imo.

At least other groups are taking their time and releasing some quality Touhou arranges :3 EastNewSound, Halozy, and C9 come to mind as good Touhou arrange groups.

Hopefully this Reitaisai SP has some ridiculously amazing annoucement or something lolol
<Wolfpox> i remember when MVP beat that one guy, and everyone was like 'whoa' except that penguin dude.
